soundguy Posted February 18, 2021 at 06:59 PM Posted February 18, 2021 at 06:59 PM May no one ever have so much power, for such a long time, ever again.

BobPistol Posted February 18, 2021 at 07:45 PM Posted February 18, 2021 at 07:45 PM May no one ever have so much power, for such a long time, ever again.Madigan wrote so many laws and wrote so many house rules to make the House Speaker very powerful that his successor WILL have so much power and for a long time. Here is the new boss, same as the old boss.
ragsbo Posted February 18, 2021 at 11:04 PM Posted February 18, 2021 at 11:04 PM Glad he is gone but his machine is still around and running things! Until that is shut down, don't expect much to happen differently. Now I am NOT saying he shouldn't be hung from the nearest tree, and I hope the lock his lousy butt up for a long long long time.
Euler Posted February 18, 2021 at 11:09 PM Posted February 18, 2021 at 11:09 PM ... Unfortunately for those of us still here, nothing will change. The guy using the control of millions of bucks over a whole herd of democrat politicians.May no one ever have so much power, for such a long time, ever again. Isn't he still the state party chairman, so he still controls the party agenda, all the money, and all the people? He just doesn't get a state paycheck for it anymore.
NRApistol Posted February 18, 2021 at 11:31 PM Posted February 18, 2021 at 11:31 PM Even after he leaves the House, Madigan will also still control two other massive political committee funds: the Friends of Michael J. Madigan, which stands at more than $13.5 million and the 13th Ward Democratic Organization, which has more than $2.6 million. Madigan is in line for an annual pension of $85,117.32 upon retirement after paying $351,013.73 into the General Assembly Retirement System over 50 years. His annual pension would jump to $148,955.28 on July 1, 2022.
mab22 Posted February 19, 2021 at 02:57 PM Posted February 19, 2021 at 02:57 PM May no one ever have so much power, for such a long time, ever again.Agreed..We really need a constitutional amendment stating that anyone can be the speaker, like the federal constitution.Even allow people to run for the position statewide.
mauserme Posted February 24, 2021 at 12:00 PM Posted February 24, 2021 at 12:00 PM And now this: https://chicago.suntimes.com/politics/2021/2/23/22298107/madigan-house-appointee-steps-down-edward-guerra-kodatt-speaker-tabares-appointment Just two days after personally anointing his successor in the Illinois House, Mike Madigan on Tuesday abruptly urged the 13th Ward employee to step down from the post due to “alleged questionable conduct.” Madigan was instrumental in engineering the appointment of state Rep. Edward Guerra Kodatt, 26, on Sunday, giving him 56% of the weighted vote. But a little more than 48 hours later, the former Illinois House speaker suddenly switched gears. “After learning of alleged questionable conduct by Mr. Kodatt, it was suggested that he resign as state representative for the 22nd District,” Madigan said late Tuesday in a joint statement with Ald. Marty Quinn (13th). “We are committed to a zero tolerance policy in the workplace.” The statement did not elaborate on the nature of the “questionable conduct.” ...
cope Posted February 24, 2021 at 12:57 PM Posted February 24, 2021 at 12:57 PM The questionable conduct was most likely that he wouldnt shine Madigans shoes
Euler Posted February 24, 2021 at 01:41 PM Posted February 24, 2021 at 01:41 PM ...... Madigan said late Tuesday in a joint statement with Ald. Marty Quinn (13th). "We are committed to a zero tolerance policy in the workplace." ... That statement is simultaneously ironic and ambiguous on so many levels. It's genius. It forcefully asserts absolutely nothing.

cybermgk Posted February 24, 2021 at 06:58 PM Posted February 24, 2021 at 06:58 PM As much as I dislike the corruption that is Madigan. I do think he kept the far left progressives reined in to a degree.
