So who are you going to vote for in the primary for Governor?

What a dirty race, and not much to choose from, either.  I'm convinced Irvin is nothing but an opportunist Democrat running as a "Republican," figuring it would be easier to beat fatso in the general than as a D in the primary.  (Kind of like "the Maverick" John McCain, pretending to be an R in AZ, but on steroids.)  I will hold my nose and vote for Baily, but I'll be shocked if Irvin loses.  In the general, geez, what do you do with Putzker vs Irvin?  While I'd be inclined to do a write-in vote for the Ghost of JBT, even Irvin would be better than Jelly Belly.  He'd have to think twice about going hardcore left if by some miracle he beat JB and his billions and the so-called "news" and their free, unreported contributions in kind pro-JB propaganda.

Maybe if we all move to AZ, we can counterbalance all the lefty transplants there and turn it red again ...

The entire stretch of Jackson Blvd from Austin through Garfield Park is full of JB lawn signs, some intersections have them on all four corners. Seems like more are put up every day. Digging deep to get the hard inner-city vote. I bet they'll have tent rallies before the primary to give stuff away.

I also feel like Ken Griffen is throwing so much money at Irvin so that Irvin will win the primary and lose in a landslide to the Governor. Besides this crazy theory, I can't believe he would back the worst of the three candidates - Rabine, Bailey and Irvin. Griffen has shown some other RINO actions like the $1M he gave to the Obama Foundation in 2017.

Ken is not stupid and he is not a JB fan.

So then Irvin must be the best candidate. I'm convinced.

Best to beat JB, yes, a good candidate he.. no.

A pretty young white boy like Sullivan has zero chance of pulling the minority votes out of Chicago or Aurora.

Bailey is at least fat but that isn't going to work either.

Don't forget that past Illinois Republican governors have been up against Madigan and an entrenched (for many years this meant Daley-controlled) state Democratic machine.

The Ds may be somewhat weaker now. And in my view, any R would be better than JB.

I’m skeptical of 1 particular candidate that keeps bashing the other 2 as Democrat stooges. Which makes me think he is a Democrat in disguise, even for an Illinois Republican.

The Republicans waste most of their time attacking each other. Then they hold grudges when someone else gets the nomination and withhold their support in the November.

Even in hard fought primaries, Democrats usually come together in November. I do not expect that there should never be negative comments, but I want to know about a candidate's stand, accomplishments, and plans.

I do not live in Illinois anymore.

I still think that Irvin has the best chance against Fat Boy, since some Blacks will support him while they would not support any other Republican. And crazy Far Left Whites will suffer terrible guilt if they vote for Pritzker over a Black candidate, and thus might just not vote at all. Bailey might be our best candidate, but his haircut makes him a loser nerd. And if he did actually vote for Biden I could never support him in the primary. At this point, I will hold my nose and go for Irvin I think.

When you have no morals, it's easy to get behind the top guy.  Democrats vote for convicted wife beater aldermen, governors who wear black face, etc.  R's have so many different groups that stand up for their beliefs.  2A and abortion are pretty big right now.  Those that are deep in these belief's will vote for the best candidate to their cause, not just because that was their only option.  If they don't have a candidate, they wont click the ticket.

This is where I stand right now.

Don't kill the messenger, but I think JB is going to be the democrat's presidential candidate in 2024.

Is balancing the budget even possible, considering the criminally underfunded state of all of the pension funds?

No but a plan to stop digging would be a good start.

If JB is re-elected we will see a retirement income tax it's just a big pile of revenue.

If everyone just doesn't burn down their house and leave in time (not quick) with other fixes, yeah it could.

But we need changes is public unions, ALL public unions.  Apply the reality factor of the other class the Paul's (not state workers) the Peter's.

I want to hear one of them say AND do, lower income tax.  This could be the biggest help for every contributor.

Illinois INCOME tax isn't that bad, it's the combination of taxes that makes Illinois one of the worst.

If the progressive tax passed we be screwed very quickly.

I think the "millionaire" in Iowa starts at 75K and around 8%.

Does anyone here really think Bailey could win? And if you don't think he could win, then voting for him is just foolishly wasting your vote. I think that Bailey's appearance, as a middle aged white guy with glasses and a crew cut would have zero chance. Irvin at least has a chance of winning, in my opinion.

Irwin does not get our votes, period. He won't even debate Bailey face to face.
