KnowThyZomB Posted January 10, 2023 at 04:51 AM Posted January 10, 2023 at 04:51 AM What's a shroud? Does an mini-14 have a shroud? Only the tactical is specifically banned.
Manhattan Posted January 10, 2023 at 05:06 AM Posted January 10, 2023 at 05:06 AM This is the part of the bill that kills me: Barrel Shroud being banned. Damn near every rifle, "assault" or not, has a barrel shroud. Does a barrel shroud make the rifle more deadly? No. But god forbid we place our grip on the barrel to better control the firearm. Can't have that. Better remove the shroud so that it's difficult to wield. (vi) a shroud attached to the barrel or that 25 partially or completely encircles the barrel, allowing 1 the bearer to hold the firearm with the non-trigger 2 hand without being burned, but excluding a slide that 3 encloses the barrel.

yurimodin Posted January 10, 2023 at 01:25 PM Posted January 10, 2023 at 01:25 PM everyone figuring out their compliance strategy I see.
kevin525 Posted January 10, 2023 at 01:29 PM Posted January 10, 2023 at 01:29 PM Harmon said the M1 was not banned because it only holds 8rnds. But buy the bill says it has a barrel shroud, it's just made out of wood. They screwed me on the 80% law where i had to pay $500 to serialize my firearms and register them. Now i'm going to have to register them again if i want to keep them.
bmyers Posted January 10, 2023 at 01:39 PM Posted January 10, 2023 at 01:39 PM After reading the list, I believe this is the only thing I will be allowed to carry and conceal or take to the range.
TK 9mm Posted January 10, 2023 at 01:39 PM Posted January 10, 2023 at 01:39 PM So how many of us will apply to be Private Security Contractors under the excluded persons section?

bmyers Posted January 10, 2023 at 02:05 PM Posted January 10, 2023 at 02:05 PM I guess we will have to just defend ourselves with our dusters, but they probably made those illegal to.

Benbow Posted January 10, 2023 at 02:24 PM Posted January 10, 2023 at 02:24 PM Quote the M1 garand can also be converted to a detachable magazine. Just ask Beretta and Breda, or for that matIt ter the James river Armoryas It also bans ordinary SKS rifles, as they are defined as detachable magazine, as you can remove the magazine without taking apart the "action". Interestingly enough it does not appear to ban the sale or possession of receivers

Elmhurst doesn't even allow slingshots? Kids can't even be kids these days? sad. Rubber band gun link:

It doesn't say a shroud is a part made out of any material surrounding the barrel. Maybe shroud means a forend with holes so that the barrel is only shrouded, not completely covered....
JamesW Posted January 10, 2023 at 03:30 PM Posted January 10, 2023 at 03:30 PM Wow, I am glad I didn't pick this up at the show in Franklin, per Page 86, E: (edit to add, being an antique it looks exempt)

I keep almost buying it, but talk myself out of it because its really just a novel toy without a use case. I'm glad that I haven't bought a dangerous assault shotgun.
Jeffrey Posted January 10, 2023 at 03:41 PM Posted January 10, 2023 at 03:41 PM Today it's mag capacities. Tomorrow will be the ammo. At what point will they consider a bird shot to be illegal due to too many pellets in a single shot?
djmarkla Posted January 10, 2023 at 03:43 PM Posted January 10, 2023 at 03:43 PM didn't they already ban 50 in this legislation?
2A4Cook Posted January 10, 2023 at 04:02 PM Posted January 10, 2023 at 04:02 PM Did they ban JB's assault fork? How many times did he stab that half a yak he ate at the BBQ joint last night?

There are SKS's that have been modified to accept AK mags, THOSE are what are listed. Non modified SKS rifles, are a fixed mag of 10 or less..
