On September 3, plaintiffs filed a motion to extend the time to file their reply to the government's response. The court granted the motion and extended the due date for the reply to October 18.

Also amicus briefs started coming on September 4. And most of those - if not ALL - are "blue" anti-gun states.  Correct??  😡 🤮

I wish someone would raise these amicus briefs next time one of these states asks for an extension because they're too busy.

Breaking News challenge to Cook County AWB Viramontes v cook panel announced -- SYKES, Brennan, St. Eve Sykes -- Chief Judge has been good in the past Brennan -- was in our favor on Bevis St Eve -- who was bad on Wilson (prior cook challenge)

Yesterday, 6/2/2025, the 7th circut panel affirmed the lower court's decision, stating that

Quote

We addressed a similar challenge to the ordinance in a case that was before us on appeal from the denial of a preliminary injunction. Bevis v. City of Naperville, 85 F.4th 1175, 1185 (7th Cir. 2023). We rejected the challenge based on the record the plaintiffs had compiled at that early stage of the litigation. Id. at 1197. The challengers here have failed to develop a record sufficient to justify a different result. We therefore affirm.

The court didn't like the evidence, when it was presented, how it was presented, and also the admissibility of the evidence?

Quote

In response to the County’s statement of undisputed material facts,
Viramontes submitted 105 exhibits, ranging from articles to surveys, in an apparent
attempt to supplement the record that he had previously elected not to build.
The judge
entered judgment for the County, expressing concern about the admissibility of
Viramontes’s eleventh-hour submissions
and concluding that his claims were
foreclosed by Bevis

BUT it might work next time, if presented properly?

Quote

. Though it left open the possibility that a better-developed record might
affect the final analysis,
id. at 1197, Viramontes’s failure to build an adequate record
here dooms his challenge
.

the tactic was to shout Bruen, Bruen Heller and loose fast to get higher up. Based upon what SCOTUS did yesterday that tactic should now be dead. SCOTU
S is NOT interested in interlocatory appeals. they are not interested in case with a limited record. this case should die where it is

Ballot box gave us the politicians that legislate our rights away, jury box is useless to get them back, what’s the other box? Lol.

just saying, there doesn’t seem to be a political solution in this state and circuit

There is a political solution, there are 2.4 million FOID Card Holders. We can tilt any governor's race in the State of IL. Buuut, for some reason, we give each other an excuse for not voting for the 2nd Amendment and blame the people in the black robes. Indiana has Indianapolis, Wisconsin has Milwaukee, and Kentucky has Louisville. What's our problem...

We have members here who are FOID holders who actively work against ILCarry and gun owners just because they’re partisan hacks and worthless in the fight (not talking about some of the more vocal posters here). I loathe those worthless “people” more than the black robes who rule over us. Heck, a good portion of FOID holders LOVE the FOID and think it’s “common sense”, even though it’s completely irrelevant in the digital age

I think they are called Fudd’s and they have their shotguns and country club and are happy with that. They don’t think they “need” an AR and therefore you nor anyone else should have one either cause you jus too shoot up a school or something.

I think Todd's point is that if Snope wasn't good enough for the Supreme Court, Viramontes (and FPC & SAF) should just let this case die rather than waste time petitioning.

Correct. Don't know how many are in here, but in the IL SubReddit, they come out quite often. Liberal gun owners calling others in the SubReddit MAGA lovers. Couldn't believe it. I thought we were all here for the same cause, to protect the 2nd Amendment. The only right that has the power to protect the others. Instead, it turns out we have a lot of gun owners, but not a lot of gun advocates.

This is a good point. Funny how this guy uses the same point from a different angle to wrap up his video. Rights are rights. We need to protect them all.

Yep. And once you know the names

of these worms who are filing witness slips against what ILCarry send out, makes you really wish a red flag order would be filed against them lol, after all, they love that stuff. They don’t deserve to have these rights, they actively work against them. Anyone who thinks gun owners are all in one boat are delusional. That all said, the ends of both spectrums have more common ground in this than the worthless middle of the road team D and team R people who truly don’t believe in the right to be armed, but rather are just mere hobbyists that will do what their party tells them to do
