Will citizens accept the end of concealed carry?

Here in Illinois we tolerated, very unhappily, the lack of a legal capability of concealed carry for decades. While many other states passed laws legalizing "shall issue" licensure, IL remained in the dark ages of gun control much as in New York City, most of the New England states, California, Maryland, etc. And then we finally achieved legalization, and now have almost 1% of the state's citizens licensed to carry a concealed firearm. But should we see Hilary Clinton win the Presidency, as well as a combination of having the Democrats seize control of the Senate and then stock the Supreme Court with anti-gun liberals, we well might see a national law outlawing the type of concealed carry we have now enjoyed here for just over two years. And if that should happen, how will the citizenry react? Will the almost 200,000 Illinoisans quietly acquiese, turn in their licenses and return to being defenseless outside of their homes and businesses? Will concealed carriers in states that have grown totally accustomed to the freedom supposedly protected by the 2nd Amendment shrug and say, well, that is the will of the people so I will have to comply, a la Australia, the United Kingdom, etc? Or will there be some type of resistance, such as the continuance of concealed carry without the protection of legality? When total gun registration is the law of the land, will gun owners quietly comply or will a sizable minority claim their guns were "lost in a boating accident" and hide at least some of their guns where a search of their home or business would not easily yield the now outlawed guns?

I am not yet ready to concede that this is the future awaiting us, but I do think it is not out of the realm of possibility. If this should happen, and crime rates soar as criminals again find the entire nation a "gun free zone", will the public realize the futility of gun control and demand a return to adherence to the 2nd Amendment as it was intended, or will this same public demand even more draconian anti gun, anti any weapon laws such as in the UK where the very concept of using a weapon of any kind for even unquestioned self defense is a criminal act? And what will the patriots among us really do when this scenario comes into play and the rest of the sheeple world applaud the U.S. for finally giving in and joining the so-called civilized Western World into committing national suicide?

I've actually thought this many time's I want to assume that most of America will stand up and make sure it doesn't happen. but i don't really know what the real outcome would be. you have to remember they make these large push's after some "mass shooting" or something to get the laws passed quickly.

Some politicians may not like us but they take our license fees. politics has buzz words to move and inspire the base., no matter what your political ideal is there is a buzz word to scare or inspire you.

My opinion. They will want to keep the money and behind the scene the majority will want those fees to continue.

I truly don't think the minimum dollars raised through concealed carry licenses, even here in high-cost Illinois, means anything to the anti-gun politicians. They don't flinch at trying to pass a budget with a 4 BILLION dollar shortfall compared to revenues, do you a think a few million dollars would make any difference at all to Madigan and his cronies?

I truly believe that if that would happen, there would another civil war. It would utterly destroy the United States as we know it. I believe that Americans would stand up at that point.

I travel all over the country and for the most part most everyone I speak with has similar values as those expressed here. The exceptions are the highly populated urban areas, homes to the majority of liberal thinkers. Look at the national voting maps, most blue states are only blue due to the high density of liberals in the large cities. Just like Illinois, we go the way of Chicago and can't do much about it. If you look at the county maps of the last 2 presidential elections, the whole country looks red from a distance, yet the white house went democrat.

Imagine a personal "Till" or "Petty Cash" box sitting somewhere in a select few Politicos.

Now just with the current fees here in 'The Republic of Illinois' they have 45m collected.

Allow this Crazyness as the Anti's call it, to continue and in ten years of this states fees alone......half a billion cash/unaccounted for!

Now stretch that out across 'The United States of America' and it becomes a huge cash cesspool of power and corruption.

What do Politicians want and desire more than their interns? Power and Money!

With the American populous far out stretching the current military in numbers, their take away as little as 50% of those who would NOT turn against citizens within the borders of this country...........why would we turn in anything or succumb to their wills?

Politicians every where want people to go about their normal lives, broke maybe, unhappy of course, but not armed and ready to revolt against them in any form of a massive way.

Fear Mongering is and always be their best tool, allowing ourselves to be infected with such a virus would be their hope.

Allow the people to spread the Fear amongst themselves and watch the solidness of the base start to chip away.

Oh Wait..........

Yep, my iPad screen just flickered, they're here watching, copying, pasting, and logging screen names.

The hammer has been laid out, let the pounding begin, and Vito was his name!

Concealed carry is not going away anytime soon, but I'm sure they'll chip away at it. The precedent up to now over the past 10 years has been increasingly in our favor. A full-on overturn of that would be an extremely bad idea and even the gun grabbers understand that. What they're more likely to do is get an overly restrictive assault weapons ban, then start tacking on a bunch of fees and additional licensing requirements for the existing CCW. It's like the old frog in the pot of water analogy, they'll slowly, little by little, build small pieces of garbage up on top of people until they achieve what they want. I'm sure they'll use every tragedy to accomplish that, too. After all, gun owners are all just baby hating evil racist monsters.

The politicians who run this state believe that citizens shouldn't have guns, they've believed it for decades and they haven't changed their beliefs. When we lose a case like Kwong, it is a lesson for the anti-gunners, a roadmap charting the way to restrict our freedoms.

I just did a search on how many conceal and carry license are in the United States it said 12.8 million so that's a lot of people who are probably not willing to give up their right to carry.

I am not worried about hypotheticals and other what if this happens or what if that happens. Hillary might be upset since as a felon she won't be able to carry, however.

I believe many pro 2nd amendment States have begun to prepare for a large scale FEDERAL attack on the ownership and possession of weapons by civilians. This is likely to be something the blue states will follow by happily reversing current laws. The red states will fight it by not enforcing federal laws. Ala marijuana sales in Colorado. Our country has gone leftist and this is what will happen when the Supreme Court decides that only a militia can have guns and uses the current meaning of militia. That day will now happen in my lifetime and I am old!

She is not a felon, because she has not been convicted of a felony.

The fact that she has not been charged with a crime is unbelievable.

What do we know? She did have classified documents (Top Secret) on her unsecured e-mail server.

Read this law and tell me she didn't break it: https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/798

Trust me you or I would be in federal prison if we did what she did.

Correct we would be in prison. You also read into what I said. i didn't say she is a felon I said as a felon she wouldn't be able to carry. She also isn't the president. I read both secret in top secret documents while in my position in the Army and I know even now to not discuss it.

There is the principle of stare decisis. With the supreme court holding that the second amendment is incorporated to the states, and specifically finding a right to possess loaded firearms outside of the home, that is a principle that cannot be overturned lightly. Case in point: there was a conservative majority on the court for years, yet the right to abortion was not overturned as was found in Roe v. Wade. The court only rarely reverses it itself, because to do so it deteriorates its credibility and shows that politics plays a heavy part. We all know that the court is politicized, but it is supposed to give the appearance that it is not though well reasoned opinions and holding to the principle of stare decisis. Best that the Ds could hope for is to somehow chip away at the right.

Hillary will not get convicted since during the discovery of her stuff, it was determined or found out that many other folks were doing the same thing. So my bet is that absolutely nothing happens to her. I know people say well they just gave immunity to the guy who setup her server. So what, as an IT person, the DOJ or whoever already know what was and was not supposed to be out there. The tech that setup a server has no bearing on this since they know e-mails were sent to her.

Don't you know? Rules don't apply to our elite Democratic masters... Anything the left-wing political elite do is "ok"... Or so says the media. :(

The children have been indoctrinated to hate guns and the freedom they stand for for a long time now. I would imagine once those darlings that could never wear a tee shirt with reference to guns, or make your finger into a gun in recess because you were playing cops and robbers, will one day put out a tweet that says, "From today forward...all guns are banned". And the indoctrinated will bob their heads in compliance and go back to watching u-tube videos of cats looking stupid and angry.

That crap didn't work with me, in fact it backfired badly. It opened my eyes to double standards as well as the arbitrary (and fragile) nature of authority.

Then again there's a lot of sheeple in training, and it is a truism that as long as someone's life proceeds on an even keel you can get away with murder (SOMETIMES EVEN LITERALLY)

I come from a family that tended more towards the anti side, but I always interpreted the 2nd Amendment as protecting a right to own a gun, and that was without any prior legal reading or outside influence. I forget how old I was, but I was still pretty young.

Hillary will not be charged by a Democratic controlled/politicized justice department. I am an IT guy that works for the fed gov and I have a secret clearance (full FBI investigation, anal probe-level secret clearance). What she did makes all but Snowden-level espionage look trivial. Not only did she break the rules (criminally) herself, she also directed others to break the law. She also endangered lives, both American and foreign. Our entire espionage system was compromised, care to put a price tag on that? That's just the who-ha related to her private email server, there's also an investigation regarding the blatant influence pedaling that appears to have been going on between the excessive speaking fees and "donations" to the Clinton foundation surrounding key decisions of the State department (Haiti dev. funds, foreign uranium mines ownership, etc). Other than than, not much to see... :nono: .

Back to the OP: Stare decisis will be tested mightily. We've already seen what an activist enabling EPA has done with coordinated lawsuits by environmental groups that the gov doesn't bother to defend against to advance Cap & Trade and other nonsense climate change rules that couldn't pass congress. My hope is that Hillary will be a 1-term president and her damage-making administration will be limited the same way Bush 41 was following Reagan's term.

I'm 32, a later millennial, and the first time I played duck hunt I knew I was gonna own firearms for sport and self-defense.

I'm 35 my father was a LEO for almost 30 years. I don't think it's possible to hate guns. I had a BB gun at like 6 or 7. I've got my 13 year old son shooting. He wants to be a cop so all hope is not lost on society.

Long before the 2A gets obliterated like the scenario the OP mentioned, the first amendment will be obliterated.

We won't legally be allowed to have any religion or opinions outside of the home. And even having freedom IN the home will be begrudgingly given.

You think the country will roll over and play dead to our totalitarian government? By then, yes.

I see the saying "if this were our founding fathers, they'd be shooting by now" - well, we don't have enough of those people these days. They are a tiny minority and they stopped having kids (thank you 60's pelvic religion - aka "sexual revolution")

It's not unaccounted for - it's covering the gaps in the FSB and State Crime Lab that Blago and Quinn created by line-item veto.
