Ralffers Posted November 8, 2016 at 07:21 PM Posted November 8, 2016 at 07:21 PM Obviously, today being election day (like none other) is very important – BUT – eqully as important are the local politics, which admitedly, I know very little about. Who on the ballot in Illinois is pro 2nd Amendment?
spec5 Posted November 8, 2016 at 07:43 PM Posted November 8, 2016 at 07:43 PM If you are a member of the NRA look at the American rifleman magazine. How did your representative or senator vote on concealed carry? Give your Senatorial district and your representative district and somebody can help you out. Hillary isn't for the Second Amendment and Trump says he is. They could definitely affect us all locally.

OldMarineVet Posted November 8, 2016 at 08:28 PM Posted November 8, 2016 at 08:28 PM Yes (you just beat me to it ) It's my recollection this is the first year you don't have to access NRA endorsements/grades with your member number. I 'm happy to see this. Great change!
Grayhawk Posted November 8, 2016 at 08:37 PM Posted November 8, 2016 at 08:37 PM yes, notice that the NRA rated Duckworth as an F but Kirk was rated F-. Oh well, only have to wait 6 years.
Xwing Posted November 8, 2016 at 08:49 PM Posted November 8, 2016 at 08:49 PM Basically, if you vote straight Republican up and down the ballot, you can't go wrong. While a few of the Republicans aren't pro 2a (although the vast majority are), their Dem opponents are equally anti-2a or even worse... Kirk vs Duckworthess is a key example. Both are anti-2a. But Kirk will keep a pro-2a person in the Speaker's chair, while voting for anyone bit Kirk will put prime enemy Schumer in the speaker's chair. At that point we can forget about anything good making it through the senate in any way, shape, or form.
Kaeghl Posted November 8, 2016 at 11:54 PM Posted November 8, 2016 at 11:54 PM Locally, I did vote for one Democrat. The State's Attorney is straight arrow and pro-gun rights. The rest, either GOP or left the spot blank. Uuuhhh I did vote for someone named Trump.....did I do that right?

Apparently you don't snivel when someone says something non-PC and take it like a grown-up...others here have a problem with being over-sensitive.

GWBH Posted November 9, 2016 at 01:20 AM Posted November 9, 2016 at 01:20 AM Our state reps down here are "D's" and pro-gun.I did vote for some local Democats as they are good people and don't carry the party's water. I know that to be true from personal interactions with them on county issues.

mauserme Posted November 9, 2016 at 05:58 AM Posted November 9, 2016 at 05:58 AM Has the supermajority disappeared from both houses?
C0untZer0 Posted November 9, 2016 at 06:34 AM Posted November 9, 2016 at 06:34 AM I think they lost their supermajority
C0untZer0 Posted November 9, 2016 at 06:36 AM Posted November 9, 2016 at 06:36 AM I think downstate voters finally figured out that if they kept voting democrat, they were going to keep getting screwed by the Chicago Socialist Democrats.
papa Posted November 9, 2016 at 06:53 AM Posted November 9, 2016 at 06:53 AM How the counties of Illinois voted for President. ---> http://www.politico.com/2016-election/results/map/president/illinois/
Molly B. Posted November 9, 2016 at 07:15 AM Posted November 9, 2016 at 07:15 AM Has the supermajority disappeared from both houses? Capitol Fax has a quote from House Republican Leader Jim Durkin that the supermajority has been broken.
markthesignguy Posted November 9, 2016 at 07:19 AM Posted November 9, 2016 at 07:19 AM OK, as far as I can currently figure: Illinois State Senate lost one Democrat seat to Republicans.UNFORTUNATELY it was Gary Forby, a staunch 2nd Amendment supporter. Only 2 names will be different for the 100th General Assembly Senate rolls In the Illinois House, there was a net gain of 4 Republican seats, 5 seats gained, but one R seat was lost to a Democrat.I have not yet done a fine tooth combing of the database I have been assembling to adjudge the new names versus 2A status. Former occupant 99th to new occupant: 100th5 (D) Kenneth Dunkin to Juliana Stratton (D)10 (D) Pamela Reaves-Harris to Melissa Conyears (D)72 (D) Patrick J. Verschoore to Michael Halpin (D)114 (D) Eddie Lee Jackson, Sr. to LaToya Greenwood (D)51 ® Ed Sullivan to Nick Sauer ®66 ® Michael W. Tryon to Allen Skillicorn ®73 ® David R. Leitch to Ryan Spain ®74 ® Donald L. Moffitt to *Daniel Swanson*(e)®102 ® Adam Brown to *Brad Halbrook*(e) ®63 (D) Jack D. Franks to *Steven Reick*(p) ®71 (D) Mike Smiddy to Tony McCombie ®76 (D) Andrew F Skoog to Jerry Long ®79 (D) Katherine Cloonen to Lindsay Parkhurst ®117 (D) John Bradley to Dave Severin ®112 ® Dwight Kay to Katie Stuart (D) *name* () means they were either (p) preferred or (e) endorsed by ISRA-PVF Personally: Our junior U.S. Senator now quacks like a duck, and my US House rep is Progressive Democrat and Obama Sycophant Raja Krishnamoorthi filling her former seat.
Colt guy Posted November 9, 2016 at 08:27 AM Posted November 9, 2016 at 08:27 AM Sorry to see Munger didn't make it. Another Madigan cronie got the spot.
bmyers Posted November 9, 2016 at 12:10 PM Posted November 9, 2016 at 12:10 PM So I'm assuming gun owners came out better in this election than we thought we would even at the state/local level.
