The 79-year-old Democrat was convicted on 13 of the 14 charges leveled against him in a 2019 federal indictment accusing the veteran Chicago City Council member of using his position to steer business from private developers to his law firm.

Quote

Burke faces a maximum sentence of 110 years in federal prison.

He left the courthouse with his wife, retired Illinois Supreme Court Chief Justice Anne Burke, without speaking to reporters.

If it were anything other than a Biden Justice Department one might expect conversations, while awaiting sentencing, that might include relating past indiscretions with others suspected of having conspired with the alderman to commit this or other crimes. Never seeing the grandchildren again can be a great motivator as can the penitentiary one goes to. But, with President Roomba’s DOJ, they’re most likely going to isolate Ann and make sure he goes to Club Fed. I wouldn’t look for a Trump pardon, but the potato might grant one on his last day. We must always remember that Barry Obama got his start in politics on Chicago’s south side.

Who is that?

I was wrong he isn't waiting for sentencing, he still hasn't made it to trial.  A google should show you who.

Initially indicted by a federal grand jury on September 13, 2017, in a six-count indictment, including allegations of embezzlement.

He didn't have the highest salary in the state (2nd) but. he currently collects the highest pension in the state, over 30K a month.

I'm watching another case, of personal interest,  convicted in 2017 but still no sentencing hearing.  Burke will become sick and frail now.

Madigan will never see the inside of a cell.

What bribery case? If he's innocent, why are they waiting on a "Bribery case"?

Any bets on whether or not his "constituents" would be stupid enough to vote him back into office?

Burke's pension: Even if it's likely that former Ald. Ed Burke is stripped of his monthly $8,027 city pension following his corruption conviction, the Chicago City Council icon turned felon is still entitled to the $540,000-plus he paid into the pension fund — and a nearly $2.5 million payout from his campaign fund.

HOW SAD IS THIS!

Former Ald. Ed Burke, convicted late last year of racketeering, bribery and attempted extortion, has been allowed to keep his law license after a majority of the state Supreme Court recused themselves from taking up the issue, a court spokesperson confirmed Monday.

And why would the majority recuse themselves? Party affiliation? Money received they can't pay back?  They don't want to upset "Mr. Burke & associates",  who might tell them what a nice court room them they?

It's all intriguing....

he ARDC is the governing body for attorney’s in Illinois. What does the court have to do with it?

The state supreme court in each state is the governing body of the bar association in each state. The ARDC operates under the authority on the Illinois State Supreme Court. The ARDC reviews bar association disciplinary matters, but it only has the power to recommend disciplinary action. The Illinois State Supreme Court then decides, typically based on that recommendation, what action to take.

His wife was former Chief Justice of the Illinois Supreme court.......   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anne_M._Burke

It's a somewhat sarcastic question.

So she WAS, not IS, the Chief Justice, don't we have independent judges, this whole system is lawless and corrupt, all the way to the supreme court.

Democrats buying each other off, and we don't want to what they do to each other.

If it were Republican's we would never hear the end of it, the media would be frothing at the mouth and slobbering all over!

If your a Democrat "it's OKAY WHEN WE DO IT!"

Maybe we should request two separate court systems, Democrat and OTHER!

Maybe he can be one of those jailhouse lawyers we hear so much about.
