Ok, so what happens if people have banned items (like parts that you never needed even an ID for) and they can’t comply with the law because they don’t have a FOID card? Sounds like that’s a big problem….

So, like everything except the lower receiver....

Good point.

Right. You don’t need a FOID to buy an AR pistol grip, and some people have display firearms that are not operable, but would have “banned” parts. Further, some parts also can be swapped with airsoft guns, like hand guards, pistol grips, VFGs, etc.  Are teens who play airsoft and have parts that fit both their airsoft/paintball gun and a real rifle gonna be felons now? Further, even if they got word and wanted to comply (and get a FOID to do so, which is nuts), how could they in such short time, especially since they have no idea it includes their items?

Perhaps that’s a good question to ask at the next session:

How are folks that don’t have a FOID but own banned items that don’t (and never did) require a FOID supposed to obtain affidavits??

Yep! And how are you gonna notify such a group of people without seriously ticking them (and their parents in the case of kids that play airsoft and such) off? Is ISP gonna start hanging out at businesses that have the fields where it’s played and arrest kids?

And if they found out that they holding banned items, and actually wanted to comply, can they even get a FOID before Jan 1?
How's that going lately?

Then there's the under 21 crowd...

One of the blasters in the Force Awakens is a H&K G36 modified.

Not to mention the blaster in all

the movies. A Sterling SMG. This is a common prop gun that people

make out of parts kits. Unable to fire, but the parts themselves (grip, hand guard, stock) qualify and are banned under PICA

Unintended Consequences...

Regarding Airsoft.

The way this is being handled. PICA bans the sale and possession of airsoft rifles and accessories due to many grips, for ends, trigger pins, end plates, handguards, stocks, and accessories being compatible with modern sporting rifles.

Technically even some internals/ETC if the Airsoft Gun is a Green Gas Blowback. (For example Gas Blowback Airsoft ARs use a buffer and spring system just like the real version does. Some airsofters actually use a real AR buffer springs to tame recoil a bit further. You could use the gas Blowback buffer technically in a pinch (probably need an adjustable gas block/or carrier though)

As discussed a FOID is not needed to own these. These accessories cannot be registered unless the owner has a FOID. So quite a few people will be criminals in January, some will even be under age.

The ISP should be ashamed of themselves. Turning so many people into criminals. Yet we have an unchecked and unvetted migrant crisis that grows each and every day. But they would waste time and resources to person this.

I'm sure they are reading this. But they are an embarrassment to the badge and to the public that they serve.

No, they are not unintended consequences.  This was all by design by some very sinister people with dark motives.

The lightsaber registration is proof of it.  How many people have a spring in a old parts bin in their garage that could have a dual purpose?  Trigger style springs are used in lots of old electronics and gadgets. I remember pulling a couple springs out of an old VCR and thinking, wow, I bet this could be used in an AR.

The scope and vagueness of the law are features to be exploited by a police state.

Once I was assembling something and I was missing/misplaced a safety spring. So just took the spring from an automatic center punch and cut it to size. apparently it worked perfectly. Do we now have to register our automatic center punches? 🤣

Every hardware store in the state is complicit now.  John Menard is now an arms dealer per the State of Illannoy and the person who runs the hardware aisle at The Home Depot can be locked up.  Don’t even get the state started on those folks who bought the local True Value franchise and are now hardware felons.  Can they not refill their bins of springs and bolts anymore?  Imagine registering an Ace Hardware aisle!!

So basically every hardware store is going to need to close their hardware section and inventory and register each piece they have from the band list.  I wonder what Home Depot thinks about that?

I'm really confused - so do we register the Lightsaber or the individual attachments? Like an Airsoft that has a pistol grip and vertical foregrip or if we are in possession of "parts" that can make an "assault weapon" wouldn't we register the parts/attachments?

I'm so confused.
