Raw Power Posted March 27, 2020 at 01:35 PM Posted March 27, 2020 at 01:35 PM A lot of people seem to be willing to give up their personal liberty based on the small chance that this virus will kill them. I find this viewpoint extremely selfish. Me. Me. Me. What about the people that could be infected by YOU simply because you're not yet showing symptoms? Out of consideration for them shouldn't YOU be willing to endure a temporary inconvenience? SMH. Does this apply to flu and all other human transmitted viruses or just this one specific human transmitted virus? So you will never go out in public again? Reasonable precautions will get us through this, just as it does for all the rest. The flu is 1/100 to 1/1000 as lethal, and not spread as easily. Please stop comparing this to the flu, that attitude will kill people.

Quiet Observer Posted March 27, 2020 at 04:40 PM Posted March 27, 2020 at 04:40 PM I'm supposed to be ok with my engagement trip being postponed over health of people I do not know? I think not. I Work for this state and do not respect this governor nor will I enforce any of his draconian measures at all. I don't think anyone here has any expectations about you being OK with recent events, or not OK with them. Congratulations on your engagement, though. Very nice comment, Mauserme.
JTHunter Posted March 30, 2020 at 07:58 PM Posted March 30, 2020 at 07:58 PM https://www.theblaze.com/news/stanford_coronavirus_too_high_deathStanford medical professors: COVID-19 death toll estimates may be 'orders of magnitude' too highThis is something that I have been expecting. The fact that we DON'T know the true number of "infected" people (ChiComs will never let that data out !), the mortality rate can only be estimated. It follows that, if the number of infected people (positive tests whether or not they have symptoms) were increased by 50%, the mortality rate will be dramatically reduced. The two submit that because the United States and other countries largely focus their testing on symptomatic patients, the number of people who are infected with COVID-19 is likely much larger than the number of confirmed cases being reported by public health agencies throughout the country, which means the virus' mortality rate is likely significantly lower.

crash7 Posted March 31, 2020 at 07:35 PM Posted March 31, 2020 at 07:35 PM Going around Pritzker will extend the stay at home recommendation through April Doesn’t his “emergency powers” only last 30 days by law? I think he declared that around March 9th-ish. So, how could he do anything past April 9th-ish? To quote ‘Battlefield Earth’: “...with endless options for renewal” Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

To quote ‘Battlefield Earth’: “...with endless options for renewal” Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk There is nothing that says he cannot declare another state of emergency every 30 days until the situation resolves. It could be challenged in the courts at any point. The governor would have to prove to the court that such declarations are necessary. Potentially, the legislature could amend to law to limit his power. Laws cannot be written to cover every possible situation. The 30 days was a reasonable guess by the legislature, but they are not fortune tellers.
Sol-Invictus Posted March 31, 2020 at 08:30 PM Posted March 31, 2020 at 08:30 PM 30 days is plenty of time to go the the legislature. If he can declare the same emergency again then the 30 day provision is meaningless and so is the constitution. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

Caryboy60013 Posted April 6, 2020 at 10:41 AM Posted April 6, 2020 at 10:41 AM I want to know why i am expected to do what everyone else is doing and comply with the stay home order. Like gun rights,, I have the right to do what i want and no governor has the right to interfere in ANYONE'S RIGHTS FOR NOTHING MORE THAN A HEALTH ISSUE. Who does this idiot pritzer think he is? He has no right to interfere in people's rights especially about health. if i do not care about being healthy for no one at all, that is my right, and the governor has no right to interfere in my instant gratification at all and the need for instant pleasure and he has NO RIGHT TO FORCE ME TO DO ANYTHING FOR MYSELF LIKE TAKE CARE OF MY HEALTH AND PROVIDE FOR MYSELF. i was shot as a cop and it was a career ending injury and i am expected to continue working at the new career as an arson investigator for this state and fat idiot governor instead of the state paying me disability money, but an injured military veteran gets everything free, like they deserve it, when cops deserve everything. like my right to have any firearms i want, i have the right to go out and do what i want and no governor has the right to stop me.
mauserme Posted April 6, 2020 at 11:05 AM Posted April 6, 2020 at 11:05 AM We all make choices - the choice to follow gun laws, for example, in order to maintain our freedom and for many, the choice to limit contact with others as a way to mitigate the spread of disease. If you choose to ignore laws there can be consequences that you will be intimately aware of. If you choose unlimited contact with others, there can be consequences you may or not be aware of, some having far reaching, negative effects on others beside yourself. But these things are your choice. Choose wisely.
Caryboy60013 Posted April 6, 2020 at 02:11 PM Posted April 6, 2020 at 02:11 PM seeing as how 90% of cases of covid 19 in people with chronic lung issues typically resolve completely with no further lung damage, cases like asthma and respiratory allergies are what i am talking about, and i have minor asthma and severe allergies, im not just allergic to the tree pollen, i am allergic to the entire tree for example, and out of the 10% that dont recover completely from it 7% end up being considered disabled, meaning 25 to 30% of lung function lost and they will get free money, being a gambler.... it is pretty good odds i will survive if i caught it and may be better off because i would get free money. my boyfriend is trying to get me to stay home and actually do the job i was hired for, but ultimately who would i be successful at the job for, no one?
