richp Posted February 9, 2022 at 09:59 PM Posted February 9, 2022 at 09:59 PM I have a strong suspicion that the fear of a replication down in the US of what is going on up in Canada is behind the sudden relaxation of Covid restrictions here and in other states. Trudeau is looking powerless to stop the truckers, some of the draconian measures being used there don't play well in the public eye, and the economic damage is becoming significant. Those things, combined with the drop in Omicron cases, means that there is a dwindling political rationale for keeping things buttoned up so tight. The amazing thing to me is that nobody has successfully challenged the two year long deployment of a 30 day emergency decree statute. But the truckers up north may actually have been the straw that broke the fat guy's back. Rich Phillips

richp Posted February 9, 2022 at 10:35 PM Author Posted February 9, 2022 at 10:35 PM Flynn, there is no doubt the politicians want to look more benevolent and "in tune with the needs of the people" as elections approach. Relaxing prolonged restrictions that they themselves have imposed gives that artificial effect. But I think this Canadian thing has shown the power of the people in an interesting and persuasive way. Nobody -- from Biden on down -- wants to have to deal with what Trudeau is being battered with. And yes, particularly with elections coming. Rich
illinois_buckeye Posted February 10, 2022 at 04:40 AM Posted February 10, 2022 at 04:40 AM Newsmax today said that they think trucker convoys could start in the US on super bowl Sunday.

Rich I believe the mandates will lessen, whether for political or practical purpose. Over this spring and summer, expect the baskets to open up and the carrots to come back out, ie free education, etc in order to lead the masses back into the barn. Castro's son made a huge mistake in labeling these truckers, and their supporters as "fringe extremist" who do not deserve to be heard. I would hope this administration would learn from that but hope isn't a guarantee.
rmart Posted February 10, 2022 at 12:17 PM Posted February 10, 2022 at 12:17 PM The infringements will lessen until this fall after the election... then, expect a new wave in blue cities. If the house and the senate remain democrat, expect it to go nationwide again only more so. The beatings will continue until morale improves.
soundguy Posted February 10, 2022 at 01:54 PM Posted February 10, 2022 at 01:54 PM I think it's cool that while echoing American like protests, they are still polite, eh?

Yes it is cool, not like the Antifa or BLM “protests”. Just maybe that’s why they are having some success.

richp Posted February 11, 2022 at 07:06 PM Author Posted February 11, 2022 at 07:06 PM I find it interesting that Biden is now telling Trudeau how to handle it... This is going to get particularly interesting if the proposed Superbowl disruption takes place, or if US supporters decide to try it in New York or DC. Rich
GTX63 Posted February 11, 2022 at 08:33 PM Posted February 11, 2022 at 08:33 PM You should expect the corporate media to hit them with all they have to discredit them, and plenty of Fed boys to infiltrate them.
markthesignguy Posted February 11, 2022 at 09:50 PM Posted February 11, 2022 at 09:50 PM I am reminded of a CALGUNS spoof prank played on LCAV for a San Fransisco Hotel based something or other years back. http://onlygunsandmoney.blogspot.com/2010/07/spoofing-antis.html?m=1 LOTS of upsetting (to them) online chatter. Had them prepared for WAR. And then.... NOTHING happened. (folks were privately warned to stay far away to avoid being hassled by disappointed minions of the Totalitarians) Imagine a bunch of ONLY Fed provocateurs in trucks showing up someplace....
