Renewal people, log your processing times here

I got a letter that my CCL renewal was 'Denied' for 'Insufficient Number of Training Hours'.

Except... I'm a State Certified Trainer...

I suspect this is an ISP database issue - since my initial license was regular (I was not a trainer originally) - but I'm renewing as a trainer...

Cannot get hold of anyone via the customer service number... :(

If you are an instructor - please revisit this (archived) thread: http://illinoiscarry.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=52946

If your NRA Pistol Instructor Certification was renewed (and the new one was NOT sent into the ISP) - then this could happen to you!.

It would truly be nice if the ISP told us this... or notified us or something.... grrrrrr.... My instructor status in the ispfsb.com portal was listed as 'Active' even though the instructor certification they had on file was expired. Hopefully - they get the updated certification to my account before the resubmission of my application is processed again.

Thanks to Molly B for pointing this out to me...

I submitted mine on 12/22 and it hasn't even changed to qc_approved. It's still under submitted.

Judging by most people's processing times, I should be seeing something change by next week hopefully.

I submitted 12/17 (2 days short of 30 days today) and I am still "Submitted > Under Review". Although a little anxious to see this complete, the longer it takes, the closer I get to my original CCL expiration of 3/29/19, resulting in less time lost on my original license.

I submitted 12/15 and just checked, still showing submitted.

I'm wondering if a whole bunch of people submitted their renewals the same time we did and the state has a massive backlog now.

To think, I was going to get my renewal class done back in October or November and I waited for a friend that wanted to take the class with me, but he kept delaying and agreed to a later date. The week of the class he told me he didn't even sign up, and didn't bother telling me.

Well, after a 36 hour-ish turnaround on sending my updated NRA training credential, I got an email response from the ISP. Credential added AND renewal approved.... Woot! I confirmed it with the ‘view source’ option as well. So, now I await the next card print run...

Did they let you know it was approved via email? Or did you call in?

I took renewal class 12/1 and renewed online the same day. I just checked and my renewal was approved 12/31. 30 days exactly! I still haven't gotten it.

Mine and my wifeâs went active on the 31st as well. We renewed 4 days apart. Methinks they had a lot lot lot of cards to mail out that day. Still havenât received ours yet either.

Renewal approved 12/31/18. Should arrive today. Just saw an image of the letter after signing up for USPS informed delivery. https://informeddelivery.usps.com

When did you apply?

4 weeks prior to approval.

Arrived and in hand today.

Pretty good turnaround!

I'm getting upset because I applied on 12/5. Although it has been approved since Jan 3rd, it still is not "active" yet. I wish they would just mail the darn card.

In other thread, poster said they called and was told

...that they had printing vendor problems...

Not a renewal, but I can't really find a thread for it, so I'll just toss it in here. Haha.

Applied for FOID *first time, military new to the state of Illinois* Dec 6

Found out about the F12 trick and checked. QC_Verified Dec 18

Checked again via F12. Approved Jan 4th.

Still waiting to go Active, and get my card, but the lovely representative at the ISPFSB told me they do cards in batches, and it would possibly be between 15 to 20 days for my card to be made. It is in line though. So, I'll take that win. :frantics:

Update: Just went active today. Jan 11 :D

Update: Issued on Jan 14th now to wait for card to show up in mail, which, depending on postage can be anywhere from 2 to 7 days if not longer if they are holding the batch to mail out. I don't know how ISP does things, but I am coming up with my own theories

Still waiting, submitted 12/15, just checked, still showing submitted.

Maybe I will get lucky and stay submitted for the next 4 years and 11 months and then go approved and get a free 5 years out of them by not expiring until 2028....could I be that lucky?

I submitted / renewed on 1/7.. Checked last night and it has changed from "Submitted" to "Under Review".

"Under Review" is what is displayed in the portal, from submission until one goes "Active". Inspect Element reveals SUBMITTED, QC_VERIFIED, APPROVED as the process moves along. So the change you mention doesn't make sense to me.

I applied for the renewal 12/17 and remain "Submitted" today.

I may be mistaken but I am pretty sure it at 1st said submitted, then last night it changed to under review.. And I am talking about the web page.. Not the inspect element thingy.

Original license (no prints) expires 4/16/19

Submitted renewal (no prints) 1/15/19 - status "under review" as of 1/17/19

Question: Somewhere I've read that CCL/FOID license holders are background checked daily/weekly to continually ensure their status is correct. Amounting to hundreds of background checks per year.

If so, wouldn't renewal of a valid license essentially be nothing more than a rubber stamp?

Applied: 12/5/2018

QC_Verified: 1/3/2019

Approved??: 1/9/2019

Active: 1/17/2019

A total of 43 calendar days from submission to Active. Now, just the wait until I receive the card in the mail. Will probably wind up being closer to 50 days until card in hand. I pray there are no issues with the mail. Fingers crossed! I have learned that this process bugs me out regardless of the time frame or the fact there is no objection period. I will never really be able to relax until I get the card in the mail. That's because this state makes you feel like a criminal for the slightest things related to CC.
