PICA arrest/charge in Bloomington

This is the first instance that I’ve heard of someone being charged for possession. I’m curious to see how this plays out and if the McLean County SA will put any effort into defending the law on a motion to dismiss.

I could be wrong…  but after reading the Bloomington PD FB post, it sounds like the offender may have been a felon, illegally possessing a firearm, and was apprehended after an attempted crime during which he brandished the firearm, later ditching the firearm while attempting to avoid being caught. I think this happens all the time. Given all that stuff, I don’t imagine it matters much that he may have had a firearm prohibited under PICA. 

 

Have you seen any news coverage, local newspapers or local television which adds clarity?

Burglary and possession without a FOID ... This guy is hardly a clear PICA victim. Even if you want to debate about the FOID, there's still the burglary.

No aggravated battery with a firearm. Witness must not have been interested.
