Kelly reintroduces 3 gun violence prevention billsFebruary 11, 2021 - 16:53U.S. Rep. Robin Kelly, D-Ill., has reintroduced before Congress three key gun violence prevention bills -- Recognizing Gun Violence as a Public Health Emergency, Keeping Guns from High Risk Individual Act and the Firearm Safety Act....The Recognizing Gun Violence as a Public Health Act would require the U.S. Surgeon General to submit to Congress an annual report on the public health impacts of gun violence on communities....“Just like the Surgeon General’s landmark study of smoking, this report will examine the full picture of gun violence and its long-term impacts,” Kelly said. The Keeping Guns from High Risk Individuals Act would prohibit the sale or transfer of guns to individuals who have been convicted of certain aggressive and high-risk behaviors....“Shockingly, .... “Federal law currently does not include stalkers within the definition of ‘domestic abuser’...The Firearm Safety Act would bring guns and ammunition under the jurisdiction of the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). Kelly said this “common sense reform” would allow the CPSC – which already oversees hazardous products that pose a threat to American consumers – to issue safety standards for guns and ammunition that will help reduce gun-related deaths.... spec4 Posted March 4, 2021 at 05:51 PM Share Posted March 4, 2021 at 05:51 PM As I recall she got a lot of Bloomberg money when she was first running. Maybe one of these days SCOTUS will get off its butt and end this nonsense for good. "Shall not be infringed"

Quiet Observer Posted March 5, 2021 at 04:18 PM Share Posted March 5, 2021 at 04:18 PM So what has all this got to do directly with Illinois; will there be any changes? She is a Chicago Democrat. Would we expect her to be anything other than anti-gun? I do not know if, as Chair of the Illinois Democrat party, Madigan ever supported any pro-gun candidates or positions. What it be different with her?

What it be different with her?Mr. Madigan supported candidates that would get elected in the district where they were running. That meant supporting pro-gun D candidates in much of the state. Your question about her intentions is right on point. The difference is Mr. Madigan was mostly agnostic on gun bills. Her history is much more ant-gun than his. It depends on how she feels about keeping the party together in Illinois vs being who she is at heart.
