DomG Posted March 6, 2014 at 02:13 AM Posted March 6, 2014 at 02:13 AM Pretty fair piece from channel 7. Just the facts, didn't take a side. Now the shaking in their boots moms, well they're another story.
Mr_Rich Posted March 6, 2014 at 02:14 AM Posted March 6, 2014 at 02:14 AM There is still quite the disparity in coverage. The four Moms got 1 minute 10 seconds air time in the news broadcast. That's 17.5 seconds per person. There was only 34 seconds showing the march and speeches at IGOLD; that's 0.0085 seconds per person assuming there were 4,000 people at the event. Another way to look at it is four people received 60% of the airtime in the segment, 4,000 people received 20% of the available airtime. The missing 20% was a talking head (not David Byrne). Rich

RichBut the four moms looked desperate and the restaurant owner didn't seem to want to listen to them. There was probably only a camera crew in Springfield for IGOLD and no reporter to interview. Look at this way, there are probably dozens of marches in Springfield every year. The vast majority probably don't even get a camera crew.
Blackhawk067 Posted March 6, 2014 at 02:38 AM Posted March 6, 2014 at 02:38 AM Why do the anti-gun people always look like they are about to cry?
latetotheparty Posted March 6, 2014 at 02:39 AM Posted March 6, 2014 at 02:39 AM Thank you for posting this. Got stuck at work late and will be asleep by the time the 10:00 news is on
WindyCityGuy Posted March 6, 2014 at 02:39 AM Posted March 6, 2014 at 02:39 AM The Illinois State Rifle Association couldn't provide a spokesperson??? Are you kidding me?
lee n. field Posted March 6, 2014 at 02:42 AM Posted March 6, 2014 at 02:42 AM Why do the anti-gun people always look like they are about to cry? I think Todd in his speach today nailed it. They're constantly reminded that they LOST.
DomG Posted March 6, 2014 at 03:03 AM Posted March 6, 2014 at 03:03 AM Why do the anti-gun people always look like they are about to cry? I noticed that too. I was expecting her to start bawling as she was talking.
Tango7 Posted March 6, 2014 at 03:09 AM Posted March 6, 2014 at 03:09 AM Is this thread about the same story?
defaultdotxbe Posted March 6, 2014 at 03:22 AM Posted March 6, 2014 at 03:22 AM Why do the anti-gun people always look like they are about to cry?Because they are
Indigo Posted March 6, 2014 at 03:34 AM Posted March 6, 2014 at 03:34 AM The Illinois State Rifle Association couldn't provide a spokesperson??? Are you kidding me? They were all at IGOLD.
Terry 9595 Posted March 6, 2014 at 03:40 AM Posted March 6, 2014 at 03:40 AM As a Private Investigator for over 30 years, I have had to know when people are untruthful. One of the tell - tell signs is body language. Note both Mommies movements when telling the interviewer it's for their children. Both of them close their eyes and turn slightly away from the interviewer. This tells me that the reason they are doing this is NOT about the kids. But we all knew that anyway. So goes the antis!!!
domin8 Posted March 6, 2014 at 03:45 AM Posted March 6, 2014 at 03:45 AM I just watched the video. My intuition started waiving the red flag when I saw one was a pediatrician. I wonder if she's drinking the American Association of Pediatrics kool-aid. They are anti 2A and have been using debunked data for decades to push their agenda. Since my wife is a Certified Pediatric Nurse they AAP keeps sending her mail asking her to join. I ask her to not. Fortunately, she hasn't. Just a thought. We have a name and a profession. Surely there is a public record that would allow us to know where to send letters with facts and data to her. Is this something we could do?
Marie Posted March 6, 2014 at 03:52 AM Posted March 6, 2014 at 03:52 AM The first mother who spoke acted like a holstered gun is going to go off on its own in a crowded place. Sheesh. Talk about wusses.
larryrxtx Posted March 6, 2014 at 03:54 AM Posted March 6, 2014 at 03:54 AM Love the waitress in the background laughing at them. It will be interesting to see if the Blueberry Hill Pancake House posts or not.
FarmHand357 Posted March 6, 2014 at 04:18 AM Posted March 6, 2014 at 04:18 AM Does anyone ever say to these people "Would you please show me any actuarial data indicating that allowing concealed carry license holders in businesses results in greater risk/reduced safety for patrons.” I don’t believe any such data exist.
BrowningHP Posted March 6, 2014 at 04:31 AM Posted March 6, 2014 at 04:31 AM Love the waitress in the background laughing at them. It will be interesting to see if the Blueberry Hill Pancake House posts or not. "we service the whole community" he said. nice response!

Of course they never bother to do the math that shows a homicide rate about 25 times less than the general population, because that of course is completely devastating to their case

So goes the antis!!!The talking with the eyes closed thing is the smug... the South Park creators did an episode about this, here they talk about it. The "talking with the eyes closed" part is at the 2:45 mark. Warning - language! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ef-YWyG5TXw

Anyway, I acknowledged - if not agreeing with - the "14 CCW holders who shot and killer police officers since 2007" - and immediately countered with the 327 non-CCW holders who shot and killed police officers. <crickets>
BrowningHP Posted March 6, 2014 at 05:47 AM Posted March 6, 2014 at 05:47 AM If you pay attention to what they actually said... one of them said "intuition". that's their logic, "well, I just feel it's not a good thing, but I'm not sure why"... they aren't even founding it on realistic scenarios...guns don't just go off in holsters. they probably dont even know about holsters, they just think of a gun existing somewhere near them that may blow up at any time
1911 .45 Posted March 6, 2014 at 05:48 AM Posted March 6, 2014 at 05:48 AM The first mother who spoke acted like a holstered gun is going to go off on its own in a crowded place. Sheesh. Talk about wusses. I was thinking the same thing. But then, I remembed the time that I was in a crowded store and my .45 just leaped out of my holster and started shooting. Boy was that embarassing.
BadWaterBill Posted March 6, 2014 at 12:24 PM Posted March 6, 2014 at 12:24 PM So a pediatrician is afraid a gun MIGHT discharge. Dr please note that your children are walking down the street with long handled suckers in their mouth. Didn't they teach YOU in med school that all of those sweets are detrimental to childrens health and well being?? Also DOCTOR allowing children to walk around with items sticking out of their mouth can lead to a deadly accident if either child should trip and fall driving that sucker thru the back of their mouth directly into their brain. Just what kind of RESPONSIBLE DR or PARENT are you?? Actions speak louder than useless dribble DR.

This funny part of that is Blueberry Hill has 3 locations and I had lunch at the Oak Brook location 2 weeks ago. That same owner was there and we wound up having a conversation about rifles. It was NOT posted!
McCroskey Posted March 6, 2014 at 04:58 PM Posted March 6, 2014 at 04:58 PM Why do the anti-gun people always look like they are about to cry? Trying to convince people they should give up their freedoms and let the govt ban everything you're afraid of can be an overwhelming task.
sdf4 Posted March 6, 2014 at 08:44 PM Posted March 6, 2014 at 08:44 PM I live about 15 min away from blueberry. I have an eye glass apointment on Monday across the street so I'll check.
domin8 Posted March 6, 2014 at 09:01 PM Posted March 6, 2014 at 09:01 PM We should remember to be careful about pushing our agenda on people/businesses. It could backfire. My perception of the restaurant owner after watching news story is that he doesn't want to bothered with it. To make it as convenient as possible for himself he would likely not post. But, I've been wrong before.
sdf4 Posted March 7, 2014 at 12:46 AM Posted March 7, 2014 at 12:46 AM I figure i'd just walk down the street and look. not bug anybody.
BadWaterBill Posted March 7, 2014 at 12:57 AM Posted March 7, 2014 at 12:57 AM The owner probably has every dime invested in his businesses and saying the wrong thing would cost him EVERYTHING. Who here would take that kind of gamble?
