It's moving along now:   Your submission successfully completed the background review and has been sent to await printing.

🙂 Another CCL renewal update:

Status: Active
Printed

Your card is valid. If your card was recently issued, it is on its way to you. Please allow time for printing and mailing. Please contact our office if you have not received the card within 45 days of the issue date.

Now I wait for the mail.  Oh, they also renewed my FOID for 10 years to 2032 (I didn't request a FOID renewal), and my CCL is 2-2027, so I received a FOID renewal and an extra 10 months on my CCL since I renewed my CCL in 2-2021 and it expired in 4-2021..   Not bad IMO.

Received my second (and updated) consolidated FOID/CCL card this year. The initial card processing was initiated by a FOID renewal in December, 2021. Some of the details:

First Card:

FOID Renewal Application: 12/08/2021

Card sent to printer: 01/28/2022

Card Received in Mail: 2/11/2022

Indicator: "Y" (Incorrect)

AL # Format: F#########[Print Date]

Bottom card wording: This card does not permit bearer to UNLAWFULLY carry or use firearms. This does not authorize the carrying of a concealed weapon. (concealed part incorrect)

Back of card: Detailed rehash of transferring firearm requisites

The card was reported to ISP as incorrect on 2/14/2022 (At ISP kiosk)

Second Card:

FOID Renewal Application: 12/08/2021

Card sent to printer: 02/14/2022 (Same day service on when the issue was reported)

Card Received in Mail: 3/3/2022 (meter date 2/28/2022)

Indicator: "CCL" (Correct)

AL # Format: X#########[Print Date]

Bottom card wording: This card does not permit bearer to UNLAWFULLY carry or use firearms.

Back of card: High level reference to FOID and CCL Acts

It took two tries, but I think they got it right. One item of note- the AL#. The AL (Authorized License) "number" is a number that the ISP (per sources in the ISP) intends to use in the future to validate the FOID in certain transactions. This may be used instead of, or in conjunction with, the date of birth (DOB) when entering into transactions. For the first part of the number. the ISP has not divulged any of the logic used in the number. The letter code does peak one's curiosity. It will be very interesting if the ISP does use the AL#, as well as how well they roll out the usage of the number.

Good luck to all who embark, or are "dragged into" getting a new consolidated card.

Update! Went active 2/28/22 so will see how long to get card in hand. Application sent  7/25/21.

Wow, that's pretty fast considering I renewed 2-2021, and mine just went active on 2-28-2022, same day as yours .  That was 5 months quicker than  mine, so that email you sent must have worked.

I think there was a batch of us lost in the in basket on a vacationing employee! lol

the poster before me got the same results and it would seem so did we. And now more of you in that timeline are getting active and printed.

heres to hoping this backlog is finally unjammed!

Still waiting on mine. Spoke with someone on the phone at ISP on Friday 03/04/2022 claimed that those of us whose cards showed printed on 01/18/2022 was never printed. Now they are showing printed on 02/24/2022 supposed to be printed soon. This is crazy. Hope we will all receive our cards soon could not get an exact time frame as to when they would actually be printed and mailed out. Quess we will still have to "HURRY UP & WAIT."

Different Illinois agencies have different results.  In late February 2022, I received a renewal letter from the Illinois Secretary of State, and it took only 11 days to receive my new drivers license in the mail.

Weigh the costs against each of those two against each other. Two separate agency’s within the same state. One more expensive than the other. One which serves several millions of people daily, weekly, monthly etc. one you have gained a right to do. The other you have the right to do. And yet we sit and watch the inequities of a state which serves much less than a million vs tens of millions, stumble and bumble through the process of merely printing a plastic card. They don’t want one to get these cards. And the other needs these cards out as fast as possible so their constitutes can line up to vote. Discrimination against a selected class?

Boggles the mind.

Just speculating here: could the difference be that one organization is run by an elected official answerable to the public every 4 years and one is run by someone appointed by the governor and only answerable to a a rabid anti-gun zealot?

Final update:  USPS informed delivery is showing my renewed CCL will be delivered later today.  It only took 386 days to process and get it to me....😮

I got a second FOID/CCCL card in the mail today. This less than a month from when I got a previous one. BOTH have the indicator as CCL, so it is not part of the misprinted group. The X-Number is different. I do not know why and I do not know why I got a second one!

Anyone know What the hey!!! is up with this?

Is the red text at the bottom of the card different?

So apparently the ISP is issuing multiple different cards to some,

multiple identical cards to others,

single incorrect cards to some,

single correct cards to others and

no cards at all to some others…..

So what’s next?? A declaration that all cards are null and void due to “printing irregularities” and everybody has to reapply??

And yes, that was supposed to be purple….. or was it???

New and hopefully final update.

The wife’s CCL renewal was 6 plus months out.

I decided to e-mail the director directly. Sent the e-mail late (8pm) on the 22nd February.

Received a reply less than 24 hours thereafter on the 23rd.

They stated that her card was approved and would be sent to the printer. They also stated that she should receive it with 10 business days.

Scrolling forward I figured maybe Thursday this week. Nope not here. Ok Friday. Nope and that’s a full 12 business days! 😡

Well today Saturday the 12th of March we got her card from the mail box. So it does pay to send those e-mails if it’s been a long time out. I say that as several over 6 month cards have been reviewed of late. I might add that my e-mail was polite and to the exact point about the card and the timelines only!

She got the new and improved FOUD color card with the CCL designation on it. All dates have been extended.

Others have been stating they are getting multiple cards but she only got this one and it looks correct based on the portal etc.

Keep up the faith fellas it will and can happen, I’m thinking they need these nudges every now and then. But that’s just my opinion.

Earlier this week the ISP published some information on average processing times for FTIPS, FOID (new and renewal), and CCL New (fingerprint and non fingerprint). After reporting all averages within relevant ranges for January, 2022, it appears in February, 2033 that only CCL new applications (with fingerprints) were outside the "statutory guidelines". A history of averages over the past year (or so) is listed below. The information is also available on the ISP website (for select periods). (https://isp.illinois.gov/Foid)

Please note that according to ISP guidelines the processing time is calculated from the time the application is received to the time that an application is denied or the card is SENT to the printer (print queue). A card that needs to be reprinted or the time it takes to print, mail and when the card is ultimately received is not currently measured (and made available) by the ISP.

Notice they don't have "Average CCL Renewal Times" in there, probably because it would be too embarrassing.

The average would be over 500 days.

The whole chart is laughable. February 2022, New FOID card processing time 19.8 days!

And then you have to go to the bottom to START reading the disclaimers.

Days before dined or approved to be sent to printer to que before being printed and awaiting to be mailed and the be taken to local post office to be processed to be delivered across the state to other post offices before being processed to be delivered to YOUR local post office to be scheduled to be delivered out to you home.

Total time for a New FOID from apply to received, 272 days. GG Prickster and Brendan!
