Todd has alerted me via text that SB1034 has had a bad amendment attached to it in the House and he thinks we need to gin up some opposition to it. Please contact your reps and any others you feel comfortable contacting and ask them to oppose SB1034 as amended by House Amendment 2. According to Todd, the amendment guts relief under the bill and give the ISP Carte Blanch as far as enforcement. More later, get the phone fired up! AB

I think the amendment mandates the notificatoions by the Courts to the ISP and from their to the FBI for the NICS database. does.

I had taken 30 minutes out of my day at 4:00 to walk down the street and watch my granddaughter's 5th grade volleyball scrimmage. Took advantage of a break to check mail on the iPhone. Todd's message was a couple of hours old then, I misread the bill number at first, then picked up the changes to the FOID law in amendment #2. I still needed to get 250 bags of beans to a customer south of town before 6:30 so I didn't have a lot of time to research things, I just knew that Todd wanted to put some pressure on them. Thus, the call to action. Guys, when Todd analyzes a bill and says it's bad, it's usually bad. I don't always have time to read through each one nor the expertise to know what parts are objectionable. That's why Todd spend the time both in Springfield and in the off season reading bills and figuring out what the anti's next move is. He contacts me to put these calls out 'cause he knows I've got my phone with me all the time, usually check messages, and can either get to a computer or call someone else to get the info on the board. I'm glad to help the cause in any way that I can. If you don't feel comfortable acting on his recommendation alone, then by all means don't. But, so far, we've been pretty effective at shutting down the bad bills. Hopefully, in a few days, we'll be just as effective at passing a real good carry bill!! Thanks again for sorting out my somewhat cryptic message. Hopefully, Todd will be along shortly to fill in the blanks. AB
