Joe308 Posted June 5, 2021 at 09:46 AM Posted June 5, 2021 at 09:46 AM I moved out of Illinois in 2015 and had an Illinois CCL at the time. About a year later I received a letter stating my CCL and FOID was revoked. The local police even went to my old address looking for me. I sent a letter along with my FOID and CCL back to the state police explaining that I moved out of state. Well, five years later, I received another letter that my CCL has been cancelled indicating that I moved out of state. What is going on? Is there a difference between revoked and cancelled? Sorry, no intentions of ever moving back to Illinois. Surprised to get another letter.
bmyers Posted June 5, 2021 at 11:11 AM Posted June 5, 2021 at 11:11 AM The best part, it only took a year for them to realize you are gone and then FIVE years for them to realize that you really were gone.

They needed him that’s the great news for Illinois. He more than likely voted for those 5 years also!
InterestedBystander Posted June 5, 2021 at 06:28 PM Posted June 5, 2021 at 06:28 PM ,,,"What is going on? Is there a difference between revoked and cancelled? "... Its the silliness from the ISP and CCL of the last few years. Initially people moving did get revoked notice and threatened with a warrant to be issued. I recall isp made some changes, or wanted to, in terminology and were a bit less harsh using terms like cancelled as a mover shouldnt be mixed in with someone revoked for cause. Letters have not been consistent in timing, data included, typos + grammar, etc
luckydawg13 Posted June 5, 2021 at 06:30 PM Posted June 5, 2021 at 06:30 PM Ok so if you move out of State yon need to send your C/C and your FOID back ??To whom
InterestedBystander Posted June 5, 2021 at 06:40 PM Posted June 5, 2021 at 06:40 PM Ok so if you move out of State yon need to send your C/C and your FOID back ??To whomThey want you to return it to Springfield but I doubt few do. ISP FAQ What if I moved out of state? What should I do with my FOID Card? Simply mail it back to the Firearms Services Bureau at 801 S. 7th Street, Suite 400M, Springfield, Illinois 62703. Include a note that you have moved out of state and are surrendering your FOID Card
luckydawg13 Posted June 5, 2021 at 06:51 PM Posted June 5, 2021 at 06:51 PM Ok i didn't know this is there a fine if you don't
InterestedBystander Posted June 5, 2021 at 07:19 PM Posted June 5, 2021 at 07:19 PM Ok i didn't know this is there a fine if you don'tno penalty. How are they going to impose an IL law on someone out of state unless I suppose if they issued a warrant which while threatened i dont think ever done. That could also be confusion with real revoked vs moved revoked. FOID and CCL FAQ at ispfsb site
TRJ Posted June 5, 2021 at 10:26 PM Posted June 5, 2021 at 10:26 PM I was a good little boy and sent my wife's and my fccl and foid back just like I was supposed to. My wife got the moved/canceled letter a week later. I just got my moved/canceled letter a month or two ago. I haven't been a resident since December 2019.
Joe308 Posted June 11, 2021 at 12:58 AM Author Posted June 11, 2021 at 12:58 AM Well after researching the subject some, if I moved back to Illinois, I would be eligible to reapply for my CCL as the status is cancelled instead of revoked. (However, never moving back, ever!!)
Penumbra1811 Posted June 11, 2021 at 01:20 AM Posted June 11, 2021 at 01:20 AM I cant wait to get out of Illinois myself!! Come on July 28! It might take me five years to mail them my Foid back. They wouldn't like the table being turned on them would they. But being the law abiding citizen that i am they can have there card because we are off to a Constitutional state.

GTX63 Posted June 11, 2021 at 11:36 AM Posted June 11, 2021 at 11:36 AM I have been gone since May 2019 and have received no letters or notification about my FOID or CCL. I kept them by the way. Now, if I should manipulate and sell them to someone or otherwise use them in a nefarious way, then example #497 why the system is a fail.
