mauserme Posted August 4, 2021 at 11:39 AM Share Posted August 4, 2021 at 11:39 AM https://sendarrenbailey.com/2021/08/02/law-abiding-gun-owners-lose-with-signing-of-new-foid-card-bill/ Law-abiding gun owners lose with signing of new FOID Card bill State Senator Darren Bailey (R-Louisville) has released the following statement regarding House Bill 562 a bill signed by Governor JB Pritzker Monday aimed at Modernizing the FOID Card System: This is an example of Democrats passing and signing bills which offer no real merit to the everyday lives of the people of Illinois. When HB 562 was called for a vote in the House earlier this Summer, the bills sponsor didnt even understand the process of getting a FOID card. Instead of actually trying to understand the issue, the Majority party, along with a few weak-kneed republicans, passed this bill outside of our normal legislative session to place unnecessary burdens on our law-abiding gun owners. This bill does nothing to curb gun violence and crime across our state, instead it prompts innocent people to undergo a redundant process, costing state resources and card holders more money. This bill is also a gateway for mandatory fingerprinting and a registry on our guns. It hurts small businesses and private dealers by placing new taxes and liability during the private transfer process. The Pritzker Administrations focus from day one has been circled around more restrictions on our God-given constitutional rights. Its time we Void the FOID and fight like heck for our constitutional rights.
Sweeper13 Posted August 4, 2021 at 11:56 AM Share Posted August 4, 2021 at 11:56 AM As long as Republicans' play nice with the Dems, we will never get rid of burdens to our gun rights. The bodies piling up in the state and the country dont matter to the Dems. Its about power and destroying the 2nd amendment.
2A4Cook Posted August 4, 2021 at 11:58 AM Share Posted August 4, 2021 at 11:58 AM Step 1: Remove the RINOs who voted in favor of this garbage.Step 2: Remove Durkin as Republican "Leader" EDIT: On second thought, switch the order. The RINO-in-Chief should be the first to go.
lilguy Posted August 4, 2021 at 01:35 PM Share Posted August 4, 2021 at 01:35 PM The majority of Illinois voters has spoken. As much as we wish otherwise it will only get worse. States that were once staunchly progun have been changing over time. Who’d have ever thought Colorado would fall. You can bet the farm that more states will join us over time. You will never see a state go the other direction and rid its self of strict gun control. Nanook Posted August 4, 2021 at 11:34 PM Share Posted August 4, 2021 at 11:34 PM I couldn't find the voters for this bill. I was curious which IL R's turned their coats for this bill. I searched the IL sites, but came up empty. Does anybody know the link?

mauserme Posted August 5, 2021 at 03:11 PM Author Share Posted August 5, 2021 at 03:11 PM From today's ISRA email: Of course, none of these background checks apply to the drug fueled street gangs that rove the streets of Chicago and other cities in Illinois shooting up everything and everyone they can. If they are caught, they get a stern scolding and released. That will show them by golly!Color me confused, in a neutral sort of way .
Odinson Posted August 5, 2021 at 07:08 PM Share Posted August 5, 2021 at 07:08 PM What a bummer. Witness slips for Amendment 1: 2636 against, 367 for. Amendment 2: 1404 against, 272 for. Kind of knocks the wind out of my sails.
