cope Posted April 6, 2018 at 04:46 AM Share Posted April 6, 2018 at 04:46 AM So I have been looking at getting a new sub-compact for a while now.... not that I need another.... but by golly cause I want one hehe The next part is taboo so close your eyes and dont judge as some on here have bitterness about the company I was looking at the SA mod2 in a 9 had a lot of features I like.... not the least of which is the grip safety common on their models... a feature I feel comfortable with carrying condition 1ish (guess that would technically be closer to 2ish) so I was at the LGS the other day and held one.... that is one heck of an agressive grip.... so much so that just firmly holding it started hurting my hands a bit.... or at least causing discomfort any recommendations on a good sub that has a little better grip but similar features? a stipled type grip isnt my thing I guess 3.25" is the ideal range.... plus or minus a 1/4" 9mm is choice caliber for me grip safety would like to stay below $600 on it most other features are negligible (perhaps) just looking for thoughts on models to try edit: I guess I should add that while I have smaller hands I prefer a fuller grip........ so something like the Shield is just plain to thin for my grip prefs

RandyP Posted April 7, 2018 at 12:36 PM Share Posted April 7, 2018 at 12:36 PM I side-by-side compared the offerings from Springfield, Glock and S&W at my LGS the day I bought my new Taurus PT111 G2, 12+1 9mm. Great ergos and available most everywhere for $300 or less.
TRJ Posted April 7, 2018 at 02:10 PM Share Posted April 7, 2018 at 02:10 PM Like my P938. But if you like the new Springfield just get a set of Talon grips for it to fix the bite.

Crude, 3 extra mags free for the next two months, might just have to buy it blind and see... If not it'll go in the bottom of one of safes with at least a dozen others

Briantime Posted April 10, 2018 at 04:53 PM Share Posted April 10, 2018 at 04:53 PM Anyone try the XD-E yet? Hammer and no "touch" safeties, that works for me. I bought an XD=E about two weeks ago. First range trip last week and the gun ran great. Worked with everything I put in it from WWB to Hornady Critical Duty. Heavy double action pull, but I don't think that is a bad thing in a carry piece.

lee n. field Posted April 13, 2018 at 03:00 PM Share Posted April 13, 2018 at 03:00 PM So I have been looking at getting a new sub-compact for a while now.... not that I need another.... but by golly cause I want one hehe The next part is taboo so close your eyes and dont judge as some on here have bitterness about the company I was looking at the SA mod2 in a 9 had a lot of features I like.... not the least of which is the grip safety common on their models... a feature I feel comfortable with carrying condition 1ish (guess that would technically be closer to 2ish) I have a XD subcompact, that I bought from someone on Illinoiscarry 4 or 5 years ago. I like it. They do tend to run heavy, compared to other guns of similar size. so I was at the LGS the other day and held one.... that is one heck of an agressive grip.... so much so that just firmly holding it started hurting my hands a bit.... or at least causing discomfort any recommendations on a good sub that has a little better grip but similar features? a stipled type grip isnt my thing I guess 3.25" is the ideal range.... plus or minus a 1/4" 9mm is choice caliber for me grip safety would like to stay below $600 on it edit: I guess I should add that while I have smaller hands I prefer a fuller grip........ so something like the Shield is just plain to thin for my grip prefs Talon rubberized grip for the XD Mod 2.. $17, 5 minutes to install. You'll love it. Or, Glock of choice, prob G26, with "striker control device" installed. A Glock with "striker control device" backplate installed, gets you almost exactly the same amount of safety, without the things people complain about with the XD's grip safety.
