Molly B. Posted November 13, 2016 at 02:40 AM Posted November 13, 2016 at 02:40 AM It depends on why it was denied.

Terry 9595 Posted November 13, 2016 at 04:23 AM Posted November 13, 2016 at 04:23 AM Did you apply for a ccl? If so, if you have an old foid, they will invalidate the old one to give you a new one

Cordell34 Posted November 13, 2016 at 09:33 PM Posted November 13, 2016 at 09:33 PM If it was outright Denied then ISP had a valid reason, they are as fair as it gets when it comes to FOIDS. If you qualify, they send it. nothing in between.

Jcogdell Posted November 14, 2016 at 12:29 AM Author Posted November 14, 2016 at 12:29 AM I just saw all the posts. Thanks for replying. I sent off for my first FOID and it was Denied Thursday. No details yet. Someone told me if I made a mistake on it or my picture was insufficient they could deny. True?
Jcogdell Posted November 14, 2016 at 12:32 AM Author Posted November 14, 2016 at 12:32 AM This was my first time applying. I have already taken my CCL class and was ready to send that it when I got my denial. How do I know why it was Denied as I called and they said they didn't have that info.
Molly B. Posted November 14, 2016 at 01:12 AM Posted November 14, 2016 at 01:12 AM You should receive a letter stating the reason for the denial. Once you have that, we can figure out what you need do next.
Jcogdell Posted November 14, 2016 at 01:22 AM Author Posted November 14, 2016 at 01:22 AM Thanks. I am so glad I have yall to go to for help cause I don't understand this at all.
Glock23 Posted November 14, 2016 at 05:30 PM Posted November 14, 2016 at 05:30 PM Thanks. I am so glad I have yall to go to for help cause I don't understand this at all.Did you answer "yes" to any of the questions other than the US citizen one?
Monty80 Posted November 14, 2016 at 07:32 PM Posted November 14, 2016 at 07:32 PM First rule of FOID denial... Appeal.
Jcogdell Posted November 14, 2016 at 08:12 PM Author Posted November 14, 2016 at 08:12 PM To Noone. I am pretty sure I didn't answer yes, but I may have gone to fast and checked yes by mistake. No felonies or anything like that.
Bubbacs Posted November 15, 2016 at 04:25 PM Posted November 15, 2016 at 04:25 PM So you checked the web site and it says "Denied"?And since no one else told you, please don't take the CCL class until you get this resolved!I'd hate to see you waste the class money before it is cleared up, just saying, it is a hefty fee. It may take a few weeks to get that letter which MollyB is talking about, a neighbor got one last weeek. Be sure to PM MollyB when you get it, she is the best at dealing with the ISP! Hang in there, and Welcome to the forums......

Someone told me if I made a mistake on it or my picture was insufficient they could deny. True? This is true yes. If the address doesn't match what's on your DL, not enough address history or errors in said history it can be denied.

I know that CCL apps with missing or incorrect information are "rejected," not "denied." I see no reason why the FOID would be any different.

We need clarification on what the ISP website says whether denied or rejected.
Jcogdell Posted November 16, 2016 at 02:59 PM Author Posted November 16, 2016 at 02:59 PM It was DENIED not REJECTED. How do I PM Molly B? I am 100% new to any forum but I knew you would be my best hope. Unfortunately I already paid for and took my CCL soo that money is gone for now. I just hope I can get this resolved because I am a "solid citizen" and I have no clue why the card was denied.

You can PM (private message) anyone here by clicking on their name that appears on the bar just above their post. In this case go the post #12 in this thread and click on "Molly B". That will take you to her profile page. On the right side of the page are 3 boxes, one of which is labelled "Message Me". Click on that icon.
Cerus Posted November 16, 2016 at 05:24 PM Posted November 16, 2016 at 05:24 PM I'm confused - Isn't the training certificate good for a certain period of time? Why would the FOID being denied negate that money spent? There were several in my class that hadn't yet applied/received their FOIDS.
Jcogdell Posted November 16, 2016 at 05:29 PM Author Posted November 16, 2016 at 05:29 PM I was saying that in the event they deny my foid for good, at that point it's 200 bucks I can't get back. I just hope I can get this straightened out.
Quiet Observer Posted November 16, 2016 at 05:47 PM Posted November 16, 2016 at 05:47 PM I'm confused - Isn't the training certificate good for a certain period of time? Why would the FOID being denied negate that money spent? There were several in my class that hadn't yet applied/received their FOIDS. According to post #11, his application for a FOID was denied. He has already taken the CCL class. If he is never able to receive a FOID, he will not be eligible for a CCL. This is the risk that those taking a CCL class without first applying and receiving a FOID take. Most have no problem taking the class without having a CCL, but there are no guarantees.
RandyP Posted November 16, 2016 at 06:04 PM Posted November 16, 2016 at 06:04 PM I guess about all that instructors could do to eliminate the problem down the road for any future folks is to require a FOID upfront? Good for the student but a potential loss of $$$ for instructors.
Jcogdell Posted November 16, 2016 at 07:32 PM Author Posted November 16, 2016 at 07:32 PM Absolutely! I am glad I was able to take my CCl before having a FOID but I also didn't think there was any chance of being denied. If I had it to do again, I would wait but hignsight is 20/20. I am just anxious to get my denial in the mail and know how to proceed. Thanks to everyone for the help! I'll keep you posted.
Quiet Observer Posted November 16, 2016 at 08:16 PM Posted November 16, 2016 at 08:16 PM I guess about all that instructors could do to eliminate the problem down the road for any future folks is to require a FOID upfront? Good for the student but a potential loss of $$$ for instructors. I am not sure if that would be the best answer. Based on what I have seen on other posts, most have no problem doing the class before receiving their FOID. They do receive their FOID and CCL. It does seem to speed up the process of going from nothing to finally getting the CCL. We do not know why the OP's application was denied for now, whether an error in filling out and submitting the application, an administrative error, or something else. An instructor demanding a FOID may be delaying the right of self-defense for someone,
Jcogdell Posted November 16, 2016 at 09:18 PM Author Posted November 16, 2016 at 09:18 PM Still no Denial in the mail...UGGGHHH
Monty80 Posted November 16, 2016 at 10:03 PM Posted November 16, 2016 at 10:03 PM Jcogdell, check your PM's.
