IGOLD has gained statewide and national recognition as a well organized and highly respected event.

Each year, as the event has grown larger and larger we have gained the respect of City and Capitol

police/security for the professional and orderly manner in which we conduct ourselves - as well as our

cooperation in helping to make the lengthy security screening process as expedient as possible.

Some are advocating the wearing of fanny packs as a form of demonstration.

We at IllinoisCarry will indeed ask you without equivocation, directly and to the point, in clear black & white

language - DO NOT attempt to "fanny pack" a firearm or any other type of prohibited item during IGOLD.

In fact, to expedite security procedures it is best to enter the Capitol with the least number of items that must be

opened and searched or screened. If you can narrow that down to a wallet that can be tossed on the scanner bed

all the better! 5,000 -10,000 individual packs that must each be scanned or opened and searched would be a nightmare

for security and greatly delay everyone's entry into the Capitol.

We thank you for your cooperation - and so will Capitol security!

I'll be dressed for the weather with my front pocket wallet and one car key. It's about a 1/4 thick and has clear windows on the the front to show my ID. I hate going through security at the airport, and I imagine that security at the capitol will be tight.
Posted

That's a good way to do it - they will add additional screeners to expedite the process

but those extra screeners will have wands and will have to visually check all bags, purses, and packs.

The less we have on us the quicker we can process through.

And with the HUGE turn out we expect this year that will be crucial.

I'm in for my first IGOLD. See you guys there or maybe on the bus if there is one.

You'll enjoy for sure. It's really inspiring to see so many people marching for the Second Amendment.

I'm sure there will be a bus for you.

Already have the day off. Wouldn't be anywhere else. I'm in to help out with the event in whatever capacity you need me.

Tuesday when I go back to work I'll put in for that day off. Last year was my first and I plan on attending every year from now on. I do agree the faster you can get thru security is better. Last year had to stand out in the cold while the long lines slowly moved up.

Haven't missed one yet! Hope to make this one. It's on the schedule.

GSL/CCRA is booking 2 buses from C/U.

Thanks to global warming, weather should be decent, huh??

This will be my fifth IGOLD, wouldn't miss it for the world. When I go back to work Monday I will schedule my vacation day. Jim.

Technically it will be your fourth, as before '07 it was ISRA Lobby Day. At least, that is my recollection.

I will be there. This will be my first. I hope more people like me that have watched, and sat on the sidelines show up as well. The biggest reason I have become involved with 2nd amendment rights, is that I see our freedoms in every other area being eroded at a frightful pace. To me , this is not so much a gun issue, but a civil rights issue. This is one issue that I think we can win. I will do my best to help. I joined the ISRA for the 1st time (family membership) the day of the ISRA meeting in Elmhurst.

This is about civil rights, don't let the Brady's etc cloud the issue that it's something else.

Posted
This will be my second year in a row and I'm bringing 3 or 4 new people with me this year. Hopefully, others will do the same. It's quite an experience when you are able to stand up for your rights!

Correct, '07 was the first official, "IGOLD".

I stand corrected, my first trip in IIRC 2004 was Lobby Day and quite a difference. There were only approximately 200 people there and I think we all had our meeting in some cafeteria, no busses no banners and no march. We have come a long way.

Actually this is kind of cool, because I have been to every IGOLD and don't have any plans to quit. Jim.

RE: IGOLD C/U - Danville - Decatur buses...

I've been told that 2 buses are booked by GSL/CCRA. One will leave from Urbana Farm and Fleet, the other from Danville. IIRC, the one from Danville last year left from Guetteridge (sp) Harley Davidson...someone correct me on that if I am wrong.

If the Danville bus is not full, it will stop in Urbana to pick up any overflow.

If the C/U bus is not full, it will stop in Decatur at Sam's Club, as in previous years. IOW, each bus MAY make one stop.

If both buses fill early, GSL has the option to lease up to 2 more buses... a total of 220 people!!

FILL 'EM UP, folks!!!

Time to start posting/passing out lit at gun shows, gun shops, shooting clubs, anywhere else you can think of!!!

Just put myself down for PTO. I hope to bring a truck load with me. Been putting bugs in peoples ears since just before Christmas.

I got the wife interested enough now that she is going to attend this year with me. There is a quote from the new movie "The Blind Side" that she loves and said she is making a sign to carry based on that.

"Marcus: Whatchu packin? .22? A little Saturday night special?"

"Leigh Anne Touhy: Yep. And it shoots just fine every other day of the week too. "

Another good line from the movie

"Leigh Anne Touhy: If you so much as set foot downtown you will be sorry. I'm in a prayer group with the D.A., I'm a member of the NRA and I'm always packing. "

Ok Folks! It's show time! Let's get as many flyers printed up as we can

(goldenrod paper if you can for maximum visibility) and get them plastered all over town!

For the most part the media will not cover this event or help us publicize it - we must get the word out ourselves.

We're counting on you!

Hi folks, Just my $0.0002 worth....

The phrase to use to search with for the IGOLD color is Wausau Papers Astrobrights Solar Yellow

That'll get you PLENTY of online sources and some local sources although the local sources usually have to order the color with a 1 day delay...

The old signs I previously made were "Liftoff Lemon" (close but no cookie), and I am working through that paper, so when that's gone I'm switching over to Solar Yellow.

These old Liftoff Lemon 11x17 papers were the basis of the close to 200 signs brought by yours truly to both 2nd Amendment Freedom Rallies in downtown Chicago in 2008 & 2009, as well as the signs brought to IGOLD 2009 rally (you know, the header picture at the top of the ISRA.org homepage...)

http://www.isra.org/images/igold_banner_760x160.jpg

And since it's the start of 2010, the sign shop (my basement) is starting up again. Maybe we can have a few "sign sessions", (weekdays, weekend, days, evenings... whatever...) the last few years it was my Dad & me. I'm right next to O'Hare, southwest of the field. IL 19 & Rt 83 are close

I am looking for someone who has control over a Photocopier capable of handling 11 x 17 paper. That's my MAIN cost. I have over 100 signs worth of cardboard, and need to get stakes (Menards lath bundles $8 for 50) for the handles. I have gallons of glue.... An 11 x 17 photocopier that can enlarge from 8.5 x 11 masters would be a bonus.

If I find someone, I will arrange for Sign Masters, and paper to get to you.

I will soon scan in and post the Sign Masters I have, probably in the Back Room Forum. I hope to also post the old directions I have concerning the construction of the sign "bases with handles" that the signs are actually mounted on.

For those of you who took home and stored signs after SAFR 2008, SAFR 2009 & IGOLD 2009 (there's over 200 out there), Thank YOU, and don't forget to bring them!!!

Mark:

You and I will talk about the photocopying part.

You won't have to go out of pocket if you'd like to make signs again.

Think about designing and printing at 11x17.

Mark,

I am just north of you at Foster & Edgewood. This is my place of business. If you need a xerox machine capable to print 11x17 or to increase from 8.5x11 to 11x17, it is right here. PM me if you still need the help!
