Many here know this already I'm sure,  but I noted the FOID now expires 10 years from today, while the CCL expires 5 years from its ORIGINAL  expiration date.  So you don't lose any time by renewing 'early'.

For those that may not know, if you have fingerprints on file every time you buy a new firearm, your FOID is automatically renewed for 10yrs again.  CCL for obvious reasons is not unfortunately.

Thx.  The 10 year FOID renewal wasn't a surprise.  It was the CCL renewal that takes effect from the original expiration date that I was happy to see.  It's just good to know we don't lose months every time we get renewed. 👍

Sent my renewal in on 3-17-24 and finally got the active notice on 6-5-24. If I counted right 79 days. Not sure if it would have been faster with prints but I just can't get comfortable with giving them to the state!

To keep everyone updated on wait times:

Took the 3 hour renewal on 6/11/24, submitted everything same day and as of today, it is still "under review".  It has been 55 days, the wait continues.....

Any updates on wait times ? My son who served in the USMC as a MP came home in October after 6 yrs and did CCL and submitted without prints. He feels naked. Not mention he was able to care nationwide and overseas. He had highest level of security clearance including pentagon and white house. He keeps checking daily and is disappointed at this commie state.

I don't have any answers for your original question, but I can feel his pain with this crooked state not recognizing his prior work/training. I was DOE nuclear security for 29 years and this state couldn't care less.
