Update 1/1/13

We have been notified that the gun ban bills are expanding.

Not only are they going after semi-autos and magazines, but they are going after ranges and shutting down shoots like the Aurora Sportsman’s Club Zombie shoot.

Sources say the new bills would require any range open to the public to be run by an FFL. That they would be licensed under unlimited rules and regulations by the State Police. If you say what the Governor did under his AV of SB-681, you can imagine what kind of rules/standards he would put in place to run a range.

So ACS’s zombie shoot is open to people beyond the club’s membership, thus the shoot would be closed except to club members, certainly limiting the event. If not almost ending it. It would also seem to end those open range days where ne members are recruited.

This would also seem to be a result of the Ezell lawsuit as there would be no need for them to try to shift the regulation from locals to the state unless they thought Ezell was gonna be a losing on the second go around.

And the bill reverses changes that allow non FOID card holders to experience firearms safety training that has live fire components with it.

The gun ban now also attacks pump action rifles.

I won’t go into a lot of detail and I will ask that when the bills are made public that we not dissect every line and explain them to the antis as they will only try to build a better mouse trap. There are some doosies I have found that just make me laugh and then cry with the utter stupidity of these. I will look forward to testifying against these.

But as I have said, we don’t need to do their work for them. Thanks God they are not gun geeks.

And make more calls to your Senators.

pass this along to all your friends and gun clubs
While a 9 mm or .40 caliber bullet may or may not expand, it is an undeniable fact that a .45 caliber bullet will never shrink.

Good luck this week. Stand strong.

Thanks for the update!
Also good call on dissecting the bills and providing talking points to those who oppose our position.
In attempting to proclaim our knowledge about firearms, we may have done just that in the past

If you didn't need a reason before to make the calls and send the e-mail this is it.

I doubt the actual bills are out yet, perhaps some rough preliminary stuff.

I don't know the schedule for other state's legislatures, but I'm guessing we're one of the few that actually goes back in on the 3rd of Jan. I'm thinking we may be seeing the beginning of a gun grab to be launched nationally by states that are influenced heavily by the present administration in D.C. Rather than do it from the Oval office, send out the mandates and let it be done from the state level. At least to the point that it becomes less distastefull to just pass a federal law.

Anyway, call everyone you know, post on your facebook accounts, blogs, anyway possible to get this out. And remember, we may be looking at the "bait and switch" where preposterous proposals are made, to be replaced later by "more reasonable" gun laws.

No More Gun Laws!

I guess that's my question. I'm newer to the forum and have never been highly involved until recently.

Is this typical/same crap or is this something new and much more serious?

This is new and HUGE

The powers that be have declared war on the Constitution and particularly the 2nd Amendment.

If they disarm us they will be free to do anything they want.

If this gets passed then we won't have any weapons to carry. My guess is the prohibition on any firearm less than 20 ounces in weight will also be included.

Todd, please go back and add all the questionable things you were on the fence about putting into our new CCW bill. Lets make them pay for this BS so bad that they re-think these moronic decisions in the future.

Make sure all the covered weapons are banned for all in IL, police, national guard, VIP's, security companies/employees, friends of elected officials, elected officials, appointed officials, etc. You don't want to make certain people targets for theft of their special and dangerous firearms.

Sounds like this proposal will fly in the face of the Illinois Supreme Court ruling on the non resident FOID ruling.

Sounds like the Illinois legislature doing their version of a nose thumbing.

I will NEVER give up the fight. Maybe I am just frustrated but being treated like a criminal by your own elected officials because you support the constitution is frustrating.

Is it me or to do others feel its just not about the 2nd Amendment. Does anyone get the impression that other Amendments are at risk? I think all you have to do is ask any Catholic whether or not their constitutional rights are being violated.

Seriously, are we turning into a socialist country?

We need to forget firearm stuff and immediately put forth a recall vote for Quinn. This f***ing shithole of a state is being torn apart at the seams and they are worried about this crap. Next go after our attorney General Madigan for complete dereliction of all duties. We need the war to be on different fronts other than 2nd amendment issues. We need to stop the evil at the source. Im tired of focusing on stopping bad bills. We need to stop them from ever being written by getting rid of the writers. We need all of these morons in our legislature to get really scared about losing their jobs. Nothing else will work. This is the time for all So called Blue Dogs to go independent and switch sides, effectively ending Madigans reign. Its time to take this state back or lose it forever to this madness. We may not have a Supreme court makeup in a few years to help us on our issues so we have to stop this now.

Good. That will put an end to the speculation. Now, with your help, we can squash this B.S. and move on.
Ending the uncertainity may also help bring gun/ammo prices back to "normal"

I expect that this bill will probably look alot like the idiotic legislation that Biden and crew are going to come up with. In fact, they will probably be very similar.

I agree with Bud except the part about doing anything they want.... Seems to me they do that already and with impunity. We beat them back but the sheeple just cheer them on and go vote these enemies of the constitution back in office....

There is a day of reckoning coming in this country and I think it is getting perilously near...

DEFINITELY, they are attempting a long term strategy to strangle future gun owners by limiting access and introduction to firearms.

I think we have been one for a number of years. Now they are just racheting things up a few notches at a time.
