2smartby1/2 Posted August 4, 2018 at 03:32 AM Share Posted August 4, 2018 at 03:32 AM More info is needed about this. Not that door to door searches are good, but CA has had such laws on the books for awhile. Is this all part of the back-log of guns being in the hands of people who were convicted of crimes, and didn't provide proof that they sold or transferred weapons they already owned? Hard to get a read from just the two videos.

Is this all part of the back-log of guns being in the hands of people who were convicted of crimes, and didn't provide proof that they sold or transferred weapons they already owned? Hard to get a read from just the two videos. I didn't watch the video, but the way they did it last time is they allowed for amnesty, then overturned amnesty confiscating all the guns that were volantarily registered in the amnesty period. http://articles.latimes.com/1999/aug/18/news/mn-1290 This time around they set up a terrible website that on top of having glitches that exposed private user information to other users it was crashing around the deadline.https://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/2018/06/29/california-bullet-button-gun-registry-process-bogs-down-as-deadline-looms/ https://www.nraila.org/articles/20180707/california-massive-data-breach-and-significant-registration-problems-with-ca-doj-s-assault-weapon-registration-system People have been calling local law enforcement begging for amnesty due to technical issues and are being advised to surrender their gun. I know you might call it a volantary surrender under the threat of felony and shame on them for not registering it sooner, but I call that a gun confiscation. And of course the California politicians blames gun rights groups for not being able to implement a better system, so it's all those legal gun owners darn fault. Its amazing the creativity and ways they find around our definitions and laws, said Amanda Wilcox, legislative advocate for the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence who was instrumental in passing the new gun registration law. We have passed and updated our assault weapons law now four times, said WilcoxThis is how they take your guns in Cali.

I really wish our side would stop doing this. It disarms our arguments agaisnt the anti's who thrive on the hyperbole that we are paranoid anti government gun nuts. Only crazy people use hyperbole, we are logical government skeptical (based on past history) firearm enthusiasts...

Only crazy people use hyperbole, we are logical government skeptical (based on past history) firearm enthusiasts... Pretty much...It was a compliance check on those folks who registered their guns as compliant.....to see if the guns were really in compliance. Still a bit "big brother-ish" being that Cali is some pretty harsh rules. I don't like the idea of the police showing up at someones doors to "check their guns". But on the flip side, if there wasn't a check, the compliance law would be useless. (Whether there should be such a law is a different story).
