Manhattan Posted July 14, 2022 at 03:28 AM Posted July 14, 2022 at 03:28 AM How likely do you believe it is that Illinois or the Federal government will soon enact a "semi-automatic rifle" ban or a high capacity magazine ban? If the Federal government can't get it done, Illinois just might. What are your thoughts on this, and do we need to panic buy this stuff now or can we still wait a while to see?
Euler Posted July 14, 2022 at 03:35 AM Posted July 14, 2022 at 03:35 AM It's not happening in Illinois until spring session, at least. We may see some action in Viramontes v. Cook County (AWB case) soon, too.
MagSlap Posted July 14, 2022 at 03:44 AM Posted July 14, 2022 at 03:44 AM Every day is a good day to buy an AR....
spanishjames Posted July 14, 2022 at 04:00 AM Posted July 14, 2022 at 04:00 AM Why wait to panic buy? The market's flooded with all things AR and AK. Prices are coming down relative to last couple years as well. Get it while you still can, and don't look back.
Flynn Posted July 14, 2022 at 05:07 AM Posted July 14, 2022 at 05:07 AM If you want to buy, buy, but don't pay over market value and I would keep it reasonable and you have time. I fully expect any mag bans to be overturned as unconstitutional and you will be able to buy them all day long once again.
cola490 Posted July 14, 2022 at 09:06 AM Posted July 14, 2022 at 09:06 AM OK, what exactly does a “ban” mean? I understand that sales would be stopped, but what about the ones that have been legally purchased.
THE KING Posted July 14, 2022 at 01:17 PM Posted July 14, 2022 at 01:17 PM If you're worried about panic buying or buying an AR platform semi auto rifle now, I'd say you are late to the game already. 🤣👍 As others have said, just go buy what you want to.

A total ban means anyone who has the banned items must dispose of them, either by selling/transferring them to someone who can possess them or by destroying them. Sometimes our overlords allow us to possess things we acquired previously, but we must first specifically ask permission, usually in the form of a registry, and/or pay an indulgence fee.
soundguy Posted July 15, 2022 at 04:59 AM Posted July 15, 2022 at 04:59 AM In the previous "AWB", you could not buy newly banned items. If you had them, you kept them. As Flynn said, buy what you need. Do not over pay.
