  1. Today
  2. In reading the news feeds tonight, there was an article about this (I didn't keep the link) that talked about these 2 paired cases and that there were over 20 states that have already joined on or the other of these two filings. Things are definitely heating up. 🤔 😄
  3. It's kind of a twin of Kansas v US Attorney General.
  4. The case was filed in the Federal District of Eastern Arkansas on May 1. (docket) It's kind of a twin of Texas v ATF. Other plaintiffs at this time are AL, AK, AR, GA, ID, IN, IA, KY, MO, MN, NE, NH, ND, OK, SC, SD, TN, VA, WV, WY, Chisholm Trail Antique Gun Association, and three individual plaintiffs. At issue is the ATF "final rule" which requires private individuals to possess a Federal Firearm License if they sell firearms which are not part of a personal collection. Firearms owned for self-defense are prohibited from being classified as being part of a personal collection. (i.e., Selling firearms owned for self-defense thus requires a license.)
  5. Expect ATF, like every other Federal regulatory agency, to spend every second between now and the election adopting as much of the D regulatory wishlist as possible. The only way it will ease off a bit is if Biden manages to win in November, but that doesn't really help matters any.
  6. I understand the idea of SCOTUS taking appeals made by the federal government, those are special circumstances. But when they take them on administrative law grounds and not explicitly 2A grounds, while seemingly not taking action on actual 2A cases, I remain curious as to why. I mean, they took Dobbs despite how contentious that topic is, and frankly anything gun-related isn't even remotely as contentious a topic as abortion. So why the reticence? Also, why the refusal to use the shadow docket?
  7. At this point, I question if the Biden administration is even trying to win,l or if they're just doing this for the optics and to play to the base.
  8. Yesterday
  9. If you think about it, the real problem here has always been the Friedman precedent, not the Supreme Court or other actors, strictly speaking. Until the Friedman precedent is thrown out, the courts are still bound by it. While that doesn't stop Easterbrook, et. al. from just making up bad case law, at least this would remove that set of arguments from the negotiating table.
  10. Senate session, previously scheduled for today and Monday, has been cancelled. Today is the House Committee deadline for Senate bills, and would have been the Senate Committee deadline for House bills. With Senate Session cancelled today yesterday, 5/2/2024, was effectively the Senate Committee deadline though many bills have been given extensions. We expect little if anything to occur on the House floor today, and there are no committees scheduled until next week. I will be away from the forum most of the day. The House is scheduled for 10:00 AM today. The Senate is not in. Next Days Scheduled House: 5/6/2024 Senate: 5/7/2024 House Calendar
  11. Not great on the first point, but excellent on the second point. It never makes any sense to me, aside from maybe the financial burden involved, to file anywhere but federal court. You can easily get a win in Illinois courts as long as you file in a conservative judicial district, but at the end of the day if the state supreme court has to get involved, you're going to lose no matter what. I really wish that attorneys on our side would make more judicial use of the federal courts and quit trying to file in state courts. It's a waste of time, money, and resources to file anywhere else.
  12. I do have prints on file for my CCL. So that part is covered. I also sent an email over to the ISP asking the same question I did here and I did get a response back stating my FOID and CCL are valid while the renewal is pending. Which we all know is the case now. But I still wanted something from ISP in writing stating that as a CYA. Now its just a waiting game for both the FOID and CCL renewal to be processed.
  13. The Senate stands adjourned until 5/7/2024 @ 12:00 Noon. Session previously scheduled for 5/3/2024 and 5/6/2024 has been cancelled.
  14. My thought, Do you have finger prints on file due to getting your ccl? If so foid is life time free.
  15. Question about the ISP KIOSKS. I know there are 5 ISP headquarters throughout the state that are supposed to have employees and computers available to help people apply and renew their FOID/CCL cards. With that, I have had a number of students who have gone to District 5 in Joliet and I've been told that nobody answers the door, nor will anyone answer the phone. Has anyone else heard about this issue with any of the other locations. Or did ISP just stop the program altogether. Thanks
  16. The House stands adjourned until 5/3/2024 @ 10:00 AM.
  17. The House is coming to order. 114 members are present.
  18. Case appears to be still kicking. 2023MR4 PRITZKER, JAY ROBERTLast Search | Information | Dispositions | History | Payments | Fines & Fees Date Entry Judge Entered Under: ACCURACY FIREARMS LLC ET AL 04/30/2024 Letter and Order entered by Appellate Court and filed. (Appellant's Motion For Extension Of Time To File Brief granted in Appellate Court Case# 5-24-0112) UNASSIGNED
  19. Well, you know it's an honor to be part of such an awesome group. Besides, no one else will put up with me.
  20. Thank you for putting up with listening to those clowns!
  21. I would prefer a full smackdown, but this is actually a good option as it gives the lower courts a chance to see the error of their ways... At the end of the day the SCOTUS can no longer stay silent, they are being ignored by the lower courts on a daily basis, they simply can't allow that to continue...
