  1. Only downsides are the (IMHO) unconstitutional costs and training/retraining nonsense. My Hoosier brother has had his Lifetime CCL for quite a while with ZERO mandatory classes. I don't believe Hoosiers are more law-abiding than Illinoisans. No dopey waiting periods for firearms either.
  2. I saw nothing about IGOLD '26. Not in emails, forums or at any of my local gun shops. Would I have trekked down to Springpatch had I known about the event? Honestly - no. Only THIS weary geezer's opinion, but I suffer from "Legislative Fatigue". Positive 2A efforts in THIS State sure seem like a meaningless waste of time to me. The deck is fiercely stacked against us with a 2A and gun hating Governor, Cook County Board and Chicago Mayor. But again, that is just MY opinion.
  3. Since I am a Chicago resident (yes it sucks) Palmetto won't even sell me a T-shirt or a hat. NO sales of ANYTHING to this dump. Their $$ loss, I buy all my guns from either RangeUSA or 2nd Amendment Sports.
  4. Did you know that Palmetto won't even sell a duffel bag or hat to someone from Chicago? ALL sales of ALL merchandise is banned. My Hoosier brother constantly find it amusing how untrustworthy Illinois captives must be. As he admires his new Walther WMP with its threaded barrel that he bought without any waiting period and while enjoying his constitutional carry of a SD handgun.
  5. Laws or not, enforced or not, if I am a gun owner and there are kids living in or visiting my home, IMHO I would be brain dead NOT to lock up said guns out of their reach.
  6. And here us Brownells' take on the pistol - Gen 5 vs Gen V Glock 17
  7. I would add that if I didn't already have the equivalent of two Glock handguns (9mm and .380) I would not hesitate to purchase one of the new Glock V's.
  8. From the Glockstore - The new Glock V FWIW I'm quite satisfied with my G19 with accessory G25 upper and have no plans on changing/upgrading.
  9. SIG makes some mighty fine firearms. Sadly, although they WILL eventually find the mechanical reason for this P320 problem and fix it, their reputation is now wrecked across their product line. I could not carry a gun I don't trust 100%.
  10. Can't be surprised that a minority issue gets minority treatment.
  11. If that stat is correct, I does kinda explain why our State, County and City legislators don't give a rat's you-know-what about the subject.
  12. Once again Ian has an informative unbiased take on the subject -
  13. I am not surprised that no relief appears to be forthcoming from the courts prior to the New Year's Day deadline. I fully accept that I am the only one who will be liable for any consequences arising from my choice of action prior to year's end. Yea or nay it seems a mighty sad state of affairs in this sorry State. But hey..... there's still time for a Christmas miracle..................... or the Energizer Bunny.............. or Sasquatch riding a unicorn to come to our rescue.
  14. No worries - let them take their time - I mean it's not like we only have some 19 days to choose whether to comply with an unjust law or risk loss of our FOID/CCW and face the potential for legal fees, felony convictions and fines. Oh wait..... never mind.
  15. And THAT is why that Ice Cream franchise sells all those different flavors. IMHO we are living in the 'Golden Age' of handguns. I'm 74, been shooting for over 60 years, and marvel at the plethora of 'good' choices for reliable, safe firearms there are at ALL budget levels. I reckon we can thank the era of the "polymer wonders" as the genesis of this Golden Age. I well remember when low cost/affordable meant Saturday Night Special crapola, Not anymore....IMHO.
