I have many pistols without holsters. I have several holsters for each of my favorite pistols. I do have holsters for an NAA-22MSC and a Bond Arms .410/.45LC. I stopped trying out new holsters once I found the one style/brand I prefer. Cheers, Tim

Also consider your wardrobe, your daily manner of dress. Because I enjoy extra pockets, and wish to cover my middle, I wear a PolarTec Vest every single day. Hot or cold. It makes an excellent cover garment which will even cover a pistol carried on the outside of your belt, OWB. OWB is far more comfortable than IWB. IWB may require pants and belt be one size larger. OWB will not. If you do the vest as cover... get it in a roomy "loose for you" size and get the "Tall" version if available. This will cover the bottom of your holster better and puts your hands at a more comfy relaxed spot when in the pockets. Cheers, Tim

My preference is leather and custom made to the pistol. Privateer Leather is my favorite holster maker. OMB is more comfortable than IWB. I stay away from all hybrid holsters... in certain delicate situations retention is nonexistent. Never cheap out on your holster. No license to carry is required on your own property or on the property of someone who has given you permission to carry. It's not even about having yours on your person. If you are thinking about carry and want to see what it feels like to carry, and I tell it's OK to explore that at my home and property in Chicago, you and I are not violating any rules even if you have not yet applied for your IL License to Carry. We can even have a little open carry practice if you like. No one has ever been required to have a license to carry at their home, property or place of business. Cheers, Tim

I interpret it to say exactly what it says. The statute does not say that carry at a private residence requires prior permission. The statute says a homeowner is not required to post that "no carry" sign. The terms of entering a private residence are quite different than those entering a place where the public is invited. At a private residence, it is far simpler to chat with each invited guest and make your view on carry known. This is more difficult at a public place where random folks are expected to enter, hence the requirement to post. It actually makes sense. Cheers, Tim

My Internet experience is not with Maxon's, which is my favorite range... All of my Internet purchases arrive at my regular FFL two to three days after I have purchased and paid for them. When they arrive I fill out the forms, they make "the call" while I inspect my new item and I actually do leave the shop with my new gun. A one stop affair. When I choose to buy something off the shelf at my favorite range, of course I must fill out the forms, observe that Illinois waiting period, and return for pickup in three days. You should chat with your FFL if your experience is different. I agree, it would be lovely if there were no waiting periods or hoops to jump through. This new proposal is not practical or convenient. What part of the state are you in? My favorite range ever is at Lake Yellowstone in WI. It's free to all and has camping in the nearby state park. Unfortunately it's in the middle of nowhere and quite a hike from Chicago. Cheers, Tim
