Rumor control has it that we will see a new amendment in the senate.

No carve out for Cook county, but a carve out for chicago.

On top of that we are told that home rule units of government will have thenability to enact additional regulations for a period of time say a 90 day window.

This would have the effect of gutting any preemption that would exist.

More as i learn of it , so we need to continue with NO BAD BILL, One State, One Law

Todd, thanks for the update. When you say "a 90 day window" does that mean they would have additional restrictions for 90 days after the law is enacted, but then preemption after that 90 days?

Let them have may issue in chicago, but constitutional carry without exemption for the rest of the state and let them vote on it. That would be a fun one :frantics:

I don't want to dismiss our chicago carry brothers/sisters, but I think that needs to happen. Then have a lawsuit against the city for discrimination, and then PAY ever legal pistol owner for not allowing them to carry for however long the case takes.

WOW! That would be bad. You could go from legal to 5 time felon while just driving across the state and you wouldnt even know it. Even the most law abiding citizen would need to military grade GPS to determine their location and see if they are legal or not.

Sounds like the Chicago voting pact feels they are super special and want their own special set of controls over the population.

Wow Textbook lawsuit material.

Yeah, jump ship to get something for yourself, leave 40% of the state behind, and then discover that your lack of reading comprehension means that every little home rule unit in the state gets to burden your right with their restrictions. Thats a great idea. I cannot possibly see how it could go wrong. Especially given how honest and forthcoming Illinois politicians and police tend to be.

Reminds me of a Mencken quote: "Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard." Thanks, but I'll not bend over.

We could go over the cliff on June 9th and have the same outcome as what they propose

You can polish a turd so many ways and it's still a turd

I'm more along the lines of it would be a good way to return the favor and troll the chicago politicians back to see how they would vote on it. The city of chicago gets their may issue, but the rest of the state has complete constitutional carry. No home rule, no exemptions.

Thats crazy... You have a 90 day window to pass additional permanent laws?

That makes no sense. The obvious thing some entities would do is pass the most restrictive additional laws it can find so they can (maybe) in the future back off. As they will never be able to pass them again outside the 90 window...

Non-thought out laws that are permanent being rushed. GREAT IDEA!!!

You seriously have to be ******* kidding me?

They just won't quit. Now they are saying that people in different parts of Cook County aren't equal !!!!!

And the cronies in Chicago are too dumb to see that suburban violence in Cook will shift inward to the city.

I am so mad I can't even think !

These are their final death throws. Everyone is putting in their own BS because they realize they simply must pass something and they know it.

They cannot go over the cliff, we have them where we want them if we don't cave.

I want a carry bill as bad as anyone, the thought of carving out Chicago but not Cook (since I'm in Cook, 40 miles from Chicago) got me excited for a second. But we are all brothers and sisters in this fight. The bill of rights extends to EVERYONE. No carve out, NO BAD BILL! Shall NOT be infringed!

Where can you possibly live in Cook County and be 40 miles from Chicago City limits?

Otis, Mary and the law abiding of Cook County and the City of Chicago come with us. I won't leave them behind.

They cannot go over the cliff,

So I noticed this cliff we are about to drive over. Did you bring your parachute? :3

I may start contacting some of the downstate Demmies. Now till the end of session is when the cow manure is dumped into the feed tanks and bull is passed.

That is EXACTLY what the suggestion is. We need to pound our Representatives/Senators!!! NO BAD BILL. Better we go over the cliff than settle. If our side weakens and crumbles for fear of the cliff we are toast.

Thats what I'm saying Todd !

Nothing will make me feel better than knowing that we beat the machine and to know we can carry here in Chicago against the will of the oppressors.

Even though there is no carve out specifically for Cook Cnty, wouldn't they be able to enact a may issue law within the 90-day period because they are home rule?

One State - One Law

Yes and they quickly would. The proposal is garbage.
