I'm going to go out on a limb here, and at the risk of being overly-blunt I'll offer this theory for him (and others like him) equating gang-banging thugs with law-abiding citizens like us:

That moron takes the crown for worst idiot in Glen Ellyn (where I grew up). It's a pretty decent suburb, and at least marginally conservative.
