I'm going to go out on a limb here, and at the risk of being overly-blunt I'll offer this theory for him (and others like him) equating gang-banging thugs with law-abiding citizens like us:
  • He, and other liberal elites like him, live in their pristine upper-middle class white neighborhoods, isolated from predatory criminals and the destruction they inflict
  • From his ivory tower, he sees and feels no need to protect himself.
  • And since he is a highly educated, white upper-middle class elite, his view must be the correct one ... and since he doesn't need to defend himself, nobody does.
  • Therefore anyone who wants a gun must be either
    • a) one of those criminals, who its his duty to disarm from afar or
    • b ) some crazy, uneducated, redneck gun nut whose desires should be sacrificed for his (the liberal elite's) idea of the public good.

That sums up D-Rep. Karen May's view exactly.
A woman's "Right to Choose" the abortion issue starts with the words "No!",  "Stop!", and "I am armed!".

That moron takes the crown for worst idiot in Glen Ellyn (where I grew up).  It's a pretty decent suburb, and at least marginally conservative.

Good reply, Lou!
