What Todd is up against

Todd made Thecapitolfax again today, and proves what a patient man he is. Check out the video in the link, about 1/2 way down the page.

Rep. Arroyo says he needs a gun law (sounds like any gun law) to protect the people of his district, and asks Todd what gun bills he would support.

It's really pretty funny, Arroyo needs to make make existing crimes MORE illegal to "save people in his district".The Capitol Fax

I'm not able to watch because I have media flash not adobe and I can't get the adobe to load.

Way to stick to your guns Todd. They want Todd to work with them, but they don't want to work with Todd basically.

When Todd mentioned the Mcdonald case Sen. Arroyo seemed to get a little upset. "We need it know!" Could it be the anti's are getting a little nervous? Hmm?

Representative Arroyo's district already has the strongest of all gun control measures, a complete ban on handguns and a virtual ban on long guns. What more could he want. He has the ultimate in gun control, a ban, albeit a ban that does not prevent violence. The reason is that Arroyo does not understand the real causes of the enormous amount of violence in some areas of Chicago. He and persons of his elk will continue to push gun control legislation that punishes peaceful, decent people, but not criminals, until he is voted out of office.

I opened up the video and grabbed the url from there.

I don't think we can wait for the Supreme Court to rule on anything, we need it NOW!.....

(Jeez, it is only a little over a month away)

Yeah, because after McDonald ain't no sane politician gonna go anywhere near the rights violation legislation that the anti gun zealots so cherish.

I liked Todd's comment about concealed carry making a difference in that district but I didn't much care for Todd calling people "subjects" (unless it was meant as a sarcastic dig).

Just look at that video ...

If anyone doesn't appreciate the work that Todd Vandermyde does in Springfield, that person doesn't appreciate the conviction with which the antis want to restrict our gun rights. "We have to pass something." That statement says it all; as if they don't care what it is, just SOME kind of gun law.

Fantastic, Todd.

Ok I agree we can't wait for McDonald, so let's pass ccw now!

Absolutely Fantastic Todd! :tinfoilhat:

Is it just me, or is there a high pitched squeal in the video?

I can't listen--it's like taking a chisel, driven by an 8-pound sledge hammer, swung by Albert Haynesworth, in the center of my head.

yes the term subjects was intended as sarcasm.

I'm suppose to be getting more vids from the hearing.

i have a request in for the audio.

We knew we were beat in the committee. So why not swing for the rafters? they want a fight, we'll give them one and they will bloody well know we were there.

So I let them have it.

At one point in the disscussion, I told them there was not enough bread to make this thing taste good.

Can you imagine if Todd want down there foghting for us? This is why I get upset when he asks us for something we dont give it to him.

Everyone of us should be calling Arroyo. He just said basically that all the calls hes getting is from anti's well...

We need to drill in his skull that he already has the greates banns and that does nothing. Since it does nothing dont pass blanket lawas that take away rights from me. I may not be in your district but your laws affect me just the same.

to all,

thank you for all the kind words. It was just another day with a hostile committee hearing. But I do get to have fun with them. And I enjoy having the privlege of representing all of you.

Just another day, perhaps. But you have to feel pretty invigorated here, lately. After all, the tide has turned in a very big way. For the first time in years ... perhaps even a decade or two ... many of them are realizing that the standard fare (eg. Arroyo's "must pass a gun law") just isn't so doable anymore. There are now very serious and far-reaching constitutional concerns about such legislation.

That must make work a whole lot more enjoyable. I can see IL gun rights finally now going on the offensive. That is going to be the most fun ... and those legislators you've had to work so hard just to fend off all these years are now going to be working hard to try and fend off the bills that will restore second amendment rights to Illinoisans. In other words, now it's "our turn", and they know that.

Given the past, and given their relentless pursuit of any and all measures to take away these rights, and given the grief and unrest they have caused Illinois gun owners all these years ... I'd say you are perfectly justified, righteous perhaps, to "kick them when they are down." They will go down, and be down, particularly when McDonald comes down. I think some serious kicking is in order, and I trust that most here agree. This is not so much about spite and revenge ... it's simply a matter of taking back meaningful rights that have forced away from us by often deceptive, and arguably unconstitutional, means.

With respect for Todd, the NRA, the ISRA, Illinois Carry, and every single free person working toward "the cause" in their own way,

I sent him an email and I will call tomoorrow. At the very least it will show him the support that Todd has. He will learn not to mess with him.

Oh, Arroyo and Osterman and Kotowski and all the rest are very aware of the support that Todd has. IMHO, calls to Arroyo will never change his mind. He either has "guns are bad" ingrained in his mind or he is being pushed by the Chicago Dem machine to run these bills regardless of his personal convictions.

What will change their minds, or at least their actions is when "we", including Todd and ISRA and Illinois Carry and GSL and every gun owner in the state are able to convince enough legislators to vote AGAINST their bills and keep them from becoming law. When they become ineffective, then they will lose the support and funding of those that are backing them.

Call whomever you like, but calls to the "moderate" legislators of both parties that might vote either way will do a lot more to kill these bills than the same number of calls to the sponsors of the bills.

Having said that, I'll probably e-mail Arroyo myself and tell him to enforce the laws that he has in his district and penalize those that break them. Leave lawabiding gun owners alone.

Okay, that was just fun to watch. I would have asked Rep. Arroyo why all the laws he's passed haven't caused one hundred percent of the criminals in his district to change their ways, but that's just me.

Who are the moderate legislators we might call about gun bills? I doesn't seem essential that I call my rep as he normally votes the way I would like of gun bills.

That is great to hear Todd am I am glad you "went there". Putting them on the spot in that way is exactly what is needed. The reaction you got to waiting for the McDonald decision is very telling. For the anti side is showing (even if it doesn't want to) that they know their gun banning ways are about to be curtailed.

If you are the recipient of an attempted cornering again, on the "what legislation would you actually support" front, could you offer something along these lines in response? "When firearm legislation doesn't constitute infringement, I am happy to support it! Let me know when that legislation exists". :frantics: I thought the tactic employed against you there was a bit out of line. He tried to paint you as unreasonable, and even though I somewhat disagree with you from time to time, that is not something I think anyone can honestly accuse you of.

You are about to have a tool in your box that has long been missing. Enjoy, The McDonald decision will be here soon.

What I do is go here http://illinoiscarry.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=14073 and I call all the reps that are in the yellow and orange. We aren't going to change the minds of the pinko commies or the green patriotic, constitutionalists
