Todd Vandermyde SB1034.pdfThanks for the clarification Molly. Truly a bad bill that needs to be defeated. [
RECarry Posted May 22, 2012 at 05:12 PM Posted May 22, 2012 at 05:12 PM Thanks for the ISRA document. I was able to point out some faults in my response to Senator Susan Garrett's email. No reply yet from D-Rep. Karen May. "The Amendment to SB1034 is currently in the House and has not yet been considered by the Senate. It is my understanding that the bill would bring the State of Illinois into compliance with State and federal law and secure Illinois' eligibility for the federal NICS Act Record Improvement Program (NARIP) Grant. That is the main purpose of the legislation. If and when the bill does make it to the Senate, I will be sure to take your thoughts under advisement. I will also look for a more detailed analysis if and when the bill passes the House."
Patriots & Tyrants Posted May 22, 2012 at 05:16 PM Posted May 22, 2012 at 05:16 PM I just got that e mail with the clarifications a few hours ago. I can't believe they would try to pull a fast one on us like this, I think we need to pass HB148 as both a freedom to the people and a clear message to the dummies who think they run this state that we the people will no longer stand by while they persecute lawful gun owners. This is not California. Ontop of all that I think it would give me some kind of personal satisfaction watching anti gun types like Rham, Quinn and the rest of the gang swallow the bitter pill of accepting that law abiding peoples can carry a firearm for self defence in Illinois.
Bud Posted May 22, 2012 at 07:00 PM Posted May 22, 2012 at 07:00 PM I suspect this was done to delay consideration on either of the two ccw bills. Notice how all the interest is on this one Bill and there is no dialogue or 'buzz' about concealed carry

jfd287 Posted May 22, 2012 at 07:45 PM Posted May 22, 2012 at 07:45 PM My state rep emailed me back and I was surprised to see he wrote back saying the ISP is even against the bill The senator has not gotten back to me yet.
jfd287 Posted May 22, 2012 at 08:10 PM Posted May 22, 2012 at 08:10 PM Maybe I'm reading it wrong. It says " the NRA and ISP are not in agreement with the contents" Any thoughts? Is the ISP for or against the bill?
Buzzard Posted May 22, 2012 at 08:10 PM Posted May 22, 2012 at 08:10 PM My state rep emailed me back and I was surprised to see he wrote back saying the ISP is even against the bill Do we know this to be true? And is it still just House Committee Amendment No. 2 that we are apposed to? Is it HCA No.2 that added all the evil stuff??

Notice how all the interest is on this one Bill and there is no dialogue or 'buzz' about concealed carry That's all this is a out. The best defense is a good offense. Now they've taken us off offense and have us playing defense. ... Again.
abolt243 Posted May 22, 2012 at 08:20 PM Author Posted May 22, 2012 at 08:20 PM Maybe I'm reading it wrong. It says " the NRA and ISP are not in agreement with the contents" Any thoughts? Is the ISP for or against the bill? The ISP SUPPORTS the bill! They stand to make $1.2 million from the bill. Look at the majority of sponsors of the bill. Jakobsson, Cassidy, Soto, Arroyo. Not exactly a who's who of 2A supporters. I think your rep is saying that the NRA and the ISP don't agree on the bill as in they are on different sides.
abolt243 Posted May 22, 2012 at 08:24 PM Author Posted May 22, 2012 at 08:24 PM Here, read this and tell me the ISP opposes SB1034; SENATE_BILL_1034_FACT_SHEET.pdf If your rep reads that and tells you the ISP opposes this bill, he needs a course in reading comprehension. THE ISP SUPPORTS SB1034.
Tvandermyde Posted May 22, 2012 at 08:34 PM Posted May 22, 2012 at 08:34 PM The state police are pi$$ed about this. They really dont like the fact sheet and I got a testy/nasty email about our opposition. I dont think i will be getting foid apps processed for a while. And they are now threatening that they wont help legislators with foid issues if they vote against the bill. They continue to beat the drum about the feds shutting down NICS and stopping retail sales.

Jim Sacia is in on this bill!! Just what exactly is a Alternate Chief Co-Sponsor? He was added as such on 5/17 which was after House Committee Amendment No. 2 was added.
kurt555gs Posted May 22, 2012 at 08:40 PM Posted May 22, 2012 at 08:40 PM Good time too get rid of FOID entirety. Problem solved. * Carthago Delenda Est *

What else could that kind of threat mean?
jfd287 Posted May 22, 2012 at 08:48 PM Posted May 22, 2012 at 08:48 PM I read the fact sheet and if I was ISP I would back the bill. I think my rep meant to say they ( the nra and isp) are not in agreement.

They continue to beat the drum about the feds shutting down NICS and stopping retail sales. So they won't do the job they were hired to do in the first place and will just do a poorer job if they don't get their way. Just read Mauser's post, well put. I hope the fed DO shut down NICS for IL. It will be because of the negligence of the ISP to address issues that were pointed out to them THREE YEARS ago! They've known about the shortcomings of the FOID and the reporting of DV cases for THREE YEARS and they now try to run a bill through during the last 9 days of session. Does that sound a little strange to anyone else? And it doesn't just address the shortcomings that the FBI pointed out, it's got all these other "feel good" points to help get it passed. If it truly addressed the issues the FBI required, it wouldn't need all that window dressing to hide the bad stuff. Perhaps shutting down gun sales in the state will wake up the gun owners that say "they aren't coming after my *******shooter so who cares?" And it will point out the negligence of the ISP to follow the letter of the FOID laws regarding reporting of certain crimes. AB

Tvandermyde Posted May 22, 2012 at 09:12 PM Posted May 22, 2012 at 09:12 PM Guys I would take the copy of the letter threatening the shutdown of NICS and start calling your congressman asking them under what authority does DOJ have to stop Illinois access to NICS and stopping all retail firearm sales? You can referance that the state police are running around springfield telling legislators that if they dont pass a gun control bill, they will shut down background checks which will stop all retail sales. Maybe even a call into Rep. Issa's office would be in order
Bud Posted May 22, 2012 at 09:35 PM Posted May 22, 2012 at 09:35 PM The heck with all this, we need to start firing back and we need to get everyone in the State behind us. I just sent this to my Senator (Hatcher) and Rep, (Pritchard): Todd Vandermyde is now telling me that the State Police are threatening to shut down all retail sales of firearms if this bill doesn’t get passed. They have further stated to Vandermyde that they will no longer assist any legislator that helps to defeat this Bill when they as for State Police FOID processing assistance. Please explain to me how our legislature has completely lost control of State agencies. Senator Hatcher I know for a fact that the Director of the IDNR has blown you off on several occasions and now the State Police are going to retaliate against any Legislator who represents the voters in their District. If one of you would like to become an instant hero to the 1.1 million firearm owners in Illinois, please start the process to introduce a Bill to abolish the FOID system in Illinois. If forty-nine other States don’t need it, why are the citizens of Illinois continuously subjected to repressive violations of our 2nd Amendment rights? Please do not support one single bill coming from the political lackeys of the Chicago Machine. Please become vocal and start fighting back for us, we will support you both if you do. TFC Posted May 22, 2012 at 09:43 PM Posted May 22, 2012 at 09:43 PM It gets much bigger than we can see right now. Everyone from sworn personnel to private security can't be instantly verified. It will all have to be done by hand and on paper. As well as the computer checks from their terminals in the cars won't be able to use the instant check.Basically, their system will be ground to a halt. I thing we should let them burn.
Bud Posted May 22, 2012 at 09:48 PM Posted May 22, 2012 at 09:48 PM Senator Hatcher responds: Bud, there is that legislation but it never gets sent to committee. I'll alert my staff about the issue. Sent from my iPhone

Tvandermyde Posted May 22, 2012 at 10:07 PM Posted May 22, 2012 at 10:07 PM Hatcher is a state rep. If she is your rep, then lauzen is your senator If prichard is your rep, then chris johnson is your senator
Bud Posted May 22, 2012 at 10:14 PM Posted May 22, 2012 at 10:14 PM sorry, redistricting is kicking my butt: Represzentative Proitchard (current Rep) responds: Bud the answer to your question about why Illinois is different is Chicago and Mike Madigan. He controls the process and would stop any bill like your suggestion. We need to concentrate efforts on getting a majority for a new speaker in January.
TFC Posted May 22, 2012 at 10:14 PM Posted May 22, 2012 at 10:14 PM Anyone forward the threatening stuff to NRAILA? I'm sure they'd love this for their show.
