Illinois is controlled by a Democrat Super Majority with an agenda to make it as difficult as possible to own firearms in Illinois. PICA is blatantly unconstitutional yet SCOTUS kicks it down the road repeatedly. America is being disarmed, inch by inch, bit by bit, and Illinois and similar States are leading the way. We don't need more laws - we need SCOTUS to enforce Bruen and Heller. I have lived in Illinois my whole life and have owned firearms my entire adult life. Illinois' Democrat Super Majority is literally destroying this State....if we get a Federal Democrat majority in the midterms as expected, you'll see laws like PICA in Illinois go national in a heartbeat. Republicans want Authoritarian rule and Fascism and in the face of this assault against Democracy Democrats want US disarmed or infringed to being impotent. Gun ownership in the US is sun downing. Starting with Illinois. IMO. I don't think there are enough pro gun folks in Illinois to stop the madness. VooDoo

Yup. Just because "they" have not yet enforced PICA does not mean that, evetually, they won't suddenly start enforcement. I didn't worry too much about PICA and such as I went along with the crowd that feels positive and that it would be struck down by SCOTUS but it doesn't look like that will happen any time soon. I'm concerned at this point that the backlash against Trump's heavy handedness will lead to a National Democrat Super Majority and this nonsense will go Federal. And we/US doesn't need that. VooDoo

I have been shushed for years for saying it but it's coming true bit by bit - We are being disarmed, inch by inch, bit by bit, by this "micromanaging" of legal gun owners. And SCOTUS is not coming to save US. Neither is Trump nor the Republicans. Get ready to be a criminal, Friends, because the legislation won't stop until we have to choose between being law abiding and staying armed. VooDoo

Patience, my friend. It's only April yet. I'm curious about how this might work with PICA - if we regain our right to own suppressors in Illinois, but threaded barrels to accept them are banned as "assault weapon" attachments, how is this going to work? Not that I expect we will get suppressors in Illinois but I'm really curious. VooDoo

I don't know if it translates to State wide, but, in my neighborhood group of Illinois gun owners (all Liberals) they were/are unaware of PICA and are ignorant of most of the new laws regarding transportation/storage of firearms/ammunition and are ignorant in general about modern firearms. Several of them have long expired FOID cards. All of them are what I call "Fudds" and they are perfectly fine with banning "assault weapons" and hi cap mags, suppressors, threaded barrels, etc. because, they only own "sporting arms" for shooting skeet and target. We have been, US gun owners, neatly divided against our firearm interests by politics and rhetoric. SCOTUS seems owned and operated by the same Oligarchy that owns and operates our Representation and Legislators. We have been divided and conquered. We have dug ourselves a hole and it's way past time to stop digging except that it has gone too far now and polarized US against the neighbors we need to keep our Rights. SCOTUS is not gonna save US. Enlisting neighbors who are gun owning Democrats/Liberals to help US stop the rampant infringement might be our only hope. VooDoo

I believe there may be as many Liberal gun owners in Illinois as there are conservative gun owners. Or a lot of them anyway. I have been trying to get my local circle of gun owners invested in the idea that we will *all* be infringed to the point of disarmament unless we find a way to connect and leverage the unity against legislators. The problem with Illinois/America is our government which is controlled by a 2 party system where both parties are owned and operated by Oligarchs that have no interest going forward in seeing Americans armed. But both sides seem more intent on alienating the other side with party rhetoric and hate. We are being disarmed by our .Gov and if we think things are not so good now, wait until the Oligarchy gets US disarmed or infringed to the point of virtual disarmament. In my opinion, the forces that control America have plans to do things to US that we will wanna shoot them for....hence the infringement. YMMV - my point is that unless we find a way to embrace all the gun owners in Illinois/the US and unify despite political philosophy we are done as gun owners. VooDoo

CCL-holder shoots home invader

Hopefully the firearm used was being carried concealed in the home at the time and not stored loaded and available for such emergencies. VooDoo -
For those who hate the Trump Administration...

https://www.wiley.law/alert-Executive-Order-Signals-Rollback-of-Biden-Era-Firearms-Regulations Now if we can just count on Trump to pressure SCOTUS to enforce Bruen and Heller and get the justices to push PICA and such off the roof we can breath easier. Most of what I have seen at this point is window shopping and lip service. We need to get SCOTUS to hear/rule on the unconstitutional stuff that States are enacting. We need a Federal law that protects US from marauding State legislatures who seek to rewrite the 2A and take my rights to keep and bear. He (Trump) needs to get much more aggressive because the current trend in America, in many states, is to normalize infringement to the point of virtual disarmament. It's blatantly unconstitutional and it needs to be addressed head on much more aggressively. Is Trump the best we have seen for many years on 2A issues? Of course he is. But that's a pretty low bar, IMO. He's still just the "lesser of two evils" as my 2nd, 5th, and 14th amendment rights have been usurped by past executives and the state of Illinois. VooDoo -

10 years in and only 3% in IL have CCL
Vodoun da Vinci replied to vito's topic in Illinois Right to Keep and Carry
I just have to add that most of the "ordinary" folks I know will never carry. It's just too expensive and convoluted/difficult to get all the legal requirements satisfied and purchase the necessary gun(s), holsters, training, accessories to be viable for the vast majority. Trying to follow the current laws and be law abiding and well equipped and trained is above and beyond what most folks I know are prepared to do. VooDoo -
"They" insist that disarmament is not the goal.....we'll always be allowed to have single shot .22's and single shot shotguns. "They" don't see infringement to the point of being impotent as being comparable to being disarmed. But "They" want US without guns as "They" force their will and unconstitutional laws ever more restrictive and infringing. And "They" aren't all Leftists or even Democrats. They are all around US. Disarming US is never off the table, especially now. There are simply bigger issues and more pungent headlines at this particular moment, I think. [sarc]They'll get back to gun grabber rhetoric shortly after this message from the sponsors. [/sarc] VooDoo
