AkaBigO Posted March 5, 2014 at 11:00 PM Posted March 5, 2014 at 11:00 PM They just showed the teaser clip. Seems to be an anti piece for those that are interested in watching. Something along the lines, Moms fight back. Here's the link ... http://abclocal.go.com/wls/story?section=news/local/illinois&id=9455814
Winger Posted March 5, 2014 at 11:14 PM Posted March 5, 2014 at 11:14 PM I just watched it! The 2 women they interviewed for mda had crazy liberal eyes. It wasn't a slanted piece. You could tell the women were lacking knowledge when it came to guns. To paraphrase: I'm not against gun rights, I just don't feel safe for myself or my children when there is a loaded weapon around.
operator45 Posted March 5, 2014 at 11:17 PM Posted March 5, 2014 at 11:17 PM Better stay away from the police dept then!
WARFACE Posted March 5, 2014 at 11:21 PM Posted March 5, 2014 at 11:21 PM Maybe they should actually discuss how the fine folks who bother to spend a ton of cash and who have been deemed productive members of society might atually have a positive impact on reducing crime. Moms against this, Mom against that! Maybe more moms should be parents to their kids instead of trying to be friends and their little angels wouldn't be in harms way as much.
larryrxtx Posted March 5, 2014 at 11:29 PM Posted March 5, 2014 at 11:29 PM And they threw in a 5 second clip from IGOLD. Restaurant owner did not appear very enthusiastic. Wonder if the sign went up?
AkaBigO Posted March 5, 2014 at 11:31 PM Author Posted March 5, 2014 at 11:31 PM At lease the restaurant owner didn't give in 100%. He showed some restraint.
Kipp Jones Posted March 5, 2014 at 11:42 PM Posted March 5, 2014 at 11:42 PM Better stay away from the police dept then! Well said!
G214me Posted March 5, 2014 at 11:49 PM Posted March 5, 2014 at 11:49 PM When will the story about IGOLD be on ?

Often times, the anti's logic and statements are self contradictory.
KarlJ Posted March 6, 2014 at 12:12 AM Posted March 6, 2014 at 12:12 AM Have these people isolated themselves to Illinois? I can't believe they have a real concern about this if they have ever crossed the Illinois border seeing ho Illinois is the LAST state to restore our constitutional right to bear arms. through out history different groups of people have been subject to discrimination and prejudice. And as a result have been exploited, persecuted and violated. Jewish community, black community, women, muslims, minorities. some for who they are, what they believe or the color of their skin. Now society recognizes others as equals. Discrimination isnt tolerated. But when it comes to lawful gun owners, its open season and perfectly acceptable? Were often viewed no different than criminals. All we are is law abiding citizens who want to practice our Constitutionally protected right to bear arms but were constantly shamed for doing so. Citizens and government even pressure business not to do business with us. No one would post a sign that says "no Hispanics" or "no gays" but its perfectly acceptable turn away lawful citizens who practice a protected right. And its those attitudes that promote hate against the community of lawful gun owners. So when will our elected officials put an end to the discrimination?

BrowningHP Posted March 6, 2014 at 02:08 AM Posted March 6, 2014 at 02:08 AM They are doing what they think is best, it's out of ignorance (lack of familiarity with the subject), rather than stupidity. Ironically, the more signs are posted, the more awareness is brought to the new law and discussion about it, which might be a good thing to help raise public awareness.
Pete S Posted March 6, 2014 at 02:09 AM Posted March 6, 2014 at 02:09 AM It was nice to see these Moms who Don't get Action blather on, then cut to thousands of gun owners at IGOLD, then cut back to the 5 sad, lonely Moms
Blackhawk067 Posted March 6, 2014 at 02:49 AM Posted March 6, 2014 at 02:49 AM If you look on Mom's Demand Action - Illinois Facebook page, they have a little over 3,000 "likes".. If you type in "Illinois Conceal Carry", that page alone has over 90,000 "likes". Not real worried about a group of half a dozen dedicated, but misinformed "what about the children" emotionally compromised loons.

And its those attitudes that promote hate against the community of lawful gun owners. So when will our elected officials put an end to the discrimination? My mother (an angel) is a bit skiddish around guns. When I told her I applied for my ccl she seemed hesitant to "approve". She said shes a bit nervous that people will now have guns on them. My first reply to that was "mom remeber when we went to arizona and texas did you ever feel unsafe?" I think that simple question worked well as I explained that most states have this and were the last.... that menatality is what were up against. The majority of illinois that doesnt even realize this is common place in the rest of this country. I have since been able to get my mother to agree to take a basic pistol course and get familiar with a firearm rather than just be afraid. My father on the other hand well lets just say he has multiple safes.
Tango7 Posted March 6, 2014 at 03:07 AM Posted March 6, 2014 at 03:07 AM I just posted a version of my comment over at the Sun Times story that firepiper linked to in the thread about the Hinsdale Marxist Mommies from a few days ago. They base all their actions on "feelings" and hide behind their children to promote their totalitarian beliefs...a sadly common tactic when you cannot base your argument on any sort of statistic. While their comfort level may be increased, their safety really is in no danger from anyone who has gone through the longest training session (and paid the 2nd highest fee to exercise a right in the country) as well as submitted themselves to 6 background examinations. Nor are they in danger from CCW holders anywhere else. Take for example the number of studies that have indicated that Concealed Carry holders are 5.7 times less likely to commit a violent crime and 13 times less likely to commit any crime than non-permit holders...studies conducted by a number of agencies of different states that enacted CCW since 1986, not the NRA or anybody related to the firearms industry. If there were studies that supported the concept of CCW holders increasing crime don't you think the politicians who were fighting CCW would have brought them up in the hearings? Wouldn't the state have presented them when Moore v Madigan was being argued? Of course they would, and the news outlets in Chicago would have heralded the figures. They did not bring them up because they do not exist, just as the obligation for the government to protect the individual does not exist, and has not since South v Maryland in 1856. The people with guns doing the killing are the criminals, not the citizens who just want to be left alone. Although I find it amusing that they are continually referred to as an "anti-violence" group instead of a group that actually seeks to ban firearms... a group that was "deeply disappointed" and "outraged" that the sale of guns to law abiding citizens by licensed and registered dealers (complete with waiting period and background checks) was going to occur in Chicago after years of unconstitutional denial under color of authority. Despite the "grassroots" front, in reality they were a well funded (now wholly owned) subsidiary of Michael Bloomberg, run by a professional public relations executive with experience ranging from being public affairs officer for Missouri Governor Mel Carnahan, the Missouri House of Representatives, the Missouri Department of Economic Development, Vice President of Corporate and Public Affairs at Fleishman-Hillard, Director of Global and Public Affairs at Monsanto Corporation, Director of Global Communications for GE Healthcare, then Vice President of Corporate Communications at WellPoint, the nation's largest health insurance corporation. And despite their claims of wanting to encourage a "conversation", they also have a wonderful history of erasing any opinions from their website or Facebook pages that are not in lockstep with their public positions. But she's "just a concerned mommy" and an "accidental activist". Sure. Just like my having gone through the police academy (tying for top score in shooting qualification) becoming an multi-discipline instructor (both nationally and in multiple states) and having over 300 hours of additional training only gives me a "passing familiarity" with firearms.
Lou Posted March 6, 2014 at 03:08 AM Posted March 6, 2014 at 03:08 AM This is the arguement I use. It was a LTE printed in the Tribune. Taking precautionsThere has been a lot of press coverage and letters to the editor recently about Illinois becoming the last state to enact concealed-carry legislation. A common theme I hear and read is, "Why does anyone need to carry a loaded gun in public?"http://articles.chicagotribune.com/images/pixel.gifhttp://articles.chicagotribune.com/images/pixel.gif The answer isn't too complicated really, it's just taking precautions against something you hope and pray never happens to you.I always wear my seat belt and I carry auto insurance even if I hope I never need them. I equip my home with fire extinguishers, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and I carry homeowner's insurance all the while praying that I'll never need them. When my permit is finally approved, I plan to carry a loaded firearm wherever I legally can, all the while hoping and praying that I'll never need it.It's all about taking reasonable precautions.— Louis J. Neumann Posted March 6, 2014 at 03:09 AM Posted March 6, 2014 at 03:09 AM Most people know only of guns what they see on television or read in the crime reports. Celebrities like Nancy Grace, who should know better as a former prosecutor, do little to dispel illusions about self defense and the justification for deadly force. In popular opinion, anyone who seeks to carry a gun is a wannabe cop or justice league contender. Unfortunately, the same celebrities select guests who do little to present our side in a good light.

11ram06daytona Posted March 6, 2014 at 04:20 AM Posted March 6, 2014 at 04:20 AM The newscaster didnt have all of his facts in order either. He said 46,000 people have applied. However I applied on Febuary 15th & my application number is just shy of 50,000. I would guess that number is at least 60,000 by now.
domin8 Posted March 6, 2014 at 04:54 AM Posted March 6, 2014 at 04:54 AM 46,000 is at least consistent with the 45,000 number I was hearing earlier this week.
FarmHand357 Posted March 6, 2014 at 05:26 AM Posted March 6, 2014 at 05:26 AM Lou, I appreciate this great quote and have saved it and am working on committing it to memory. Well said in the original LTE; thanks.

But who gets the sympathy of the media, and who has Big Daddy Bloomberg's charge card to buy media time and distributable materials? I know, but they still ain't garnering a whole lot of support or air time. Frankly, I think people are tired of hearing about guns man. Our "stick with-it-ness" has really worn down the opposition. They're still trying, mind you, but cripes, if we could win even these initial battles here in ILLINOIS, then we're obviously more powerful and more determined when it comes down to it. Did you hear these women (moms against guns) when they sat in on and spoke during the final days of the deadline to implement this law? They were clueless, factless, pleading on emotion instead of logic. That goes for the women (and men) antis in the legislature as well. Baseless arguments, absurd assertions, irresponsible predictions, tears (literally) and straight up fear mongering that more and more people started to see right through. Oh wait, that was Drury.... The women on our side speak with conviction, speak in facts and command attention. Anyway, by the end, people were so tired of hearing about it, they just wanted it to be done with.
mata777 Posted March 6, 2014 at 05:56 AM Posted March 6, 2014 at 05:56 AM They are still in denial. If any antis are trolling and reading this I hope you cry yourselves to sleep every night.
