transplant Posted December 17, 2013 at 10:42 PM Author Posted December 17, 2013 at 10:42 PM I plan to also. Let's let the snow deter the anti's, but may us be undeterred.
C0untZer0 Posted December 17, 2013 at 11:39 PM Posted December 17, 2013 at 11:39 PM Opening a new range means nice new ventilation and new everything. Bloomingdale is closer to me than Lombard. I WANT THAT RANGE !!!
TyGuy Posted December 17, 2013 at 11:43 PM Posted December 17, 2013 at 11:43 PM A gun range in Bloomingdale? NIMBY!
pdpsc Posted December 17, 2013 at 11:55 PM Posted December 17, 2013 at 11:55 PM The horror. Think of the children!!!
C0untZer0 Posted December 18, 2013 at 12:25 AM Posted December 18, 2013 at 12:25 AM What about people in the mall? Couldn't they get hit by bullets?

AlphaKoncepts aka CGS Posted December 18, 2013 at 01:39 AM Posted December 18, 2013 at 01:39 AM Any news?
Googe1227 Posted December 18, 2013 at 03:14 AM Posted December 18, 2013 at 03:14 AM That would be cool. My FFL is in Bloomingdale. Pick up a new gun, go right down the street to a new range for a quick test drive. Could there be anything better?
AdamRos19 Posted December 18, 2013 at 03:29 AM Posted December 18, 2013 at 03:29 AM Any news on this yet?
chevsuz12 Posted December 18, 2013 at 03:34 AM Posted December 18, 2013 at 03:34 AM Guys, this is meeting some resistance from a few locals. But i think it will go through. The location of the facility is in a pretty good area, not in residential area. There will be additional hearings about this as well.
45Badger Posted December 18, 2013 at 04:05 AM Posted December 18, 2013 at 04:05 AM Psyched! "Honey, do you need me to pick up anything from Costco on the way home from work?"
Lowbrid Posted December 18, 2013 at 04:27 AM Posted December 18, 2013 at 04:27 AM No wai! Bloomingdale be right next door to me. So from zoning approval to laying the final brick, about how long does it take to put up a gun range? I'm assuming there are a number of loops to jump through compared to any standard building.
InterestedBystander Posted December 18, 2013 at 05:19 AM Posted December 18, 2013 at 05:19 AM I'd love to see another range go up in DuPage giving an alternative to Article II that is reasonably close. Building a range is NOT cheap by any means. Talking to someone involved with a range many years ago, ventilation and lead exposure mitigation/waste clean-up was one of the biggest issues/hassles.
miztic Posted December 18, 2013 at 06:41 AM Posted December 18, 2013 at 06:41 AM Parking is going to be a challenge at the proposed location. But I'm excited, it'll be real close for me too. And only one anti gun goof showed up, the residents had some halfway legit concerns although I don't think noise will be one.

Can you please post when these additional hearings will take place? I have a few family members that live in Bloomingdale that would like to attend. Thanks

miztic Posted December 18, 2013 at 01:44 PM Posted December 18, 2013 at 01:44 PM The address is 7 Circle Ave., Bloomingdale. If you look it up on google maps, it drops the pin right on lake & circle, they are planning to renovate the warehouse building on the north east corner. it used to have a metal fabricator in there for 20 years prior, which went out of business in '09. the owner of the metal fabricator attended and he stated that at the height they used to run 3 shifts 24/7 operation there with no complaints. One of the residents claimed someone was revving a Harley at 7am in the morning there once for noise complaints. The village requires the driveway to the rear parking to be 24ft wide so it accommodates 2-way traffic, currently it's 17ft. Supposedly there's a ditch right next to it and the widening would cut into the ditch, I'm thinking get one of those big old concrete sewer pipes and run the whole thing under the parking lot.
miztic Posted December 18, 2013 at 02:53 PM Posted December 18, 2013 at 02:53 PM Also - I'm wishing I had recorded the hoplophobe lady speak, it was something to behold, she claimed the NRA was somehow behind this gun range opening, made it sound like some secret illuminati type thing was going on. And her whole argument against the gun range was "guns are bad" basically.
Danielm60660 Posted December 18, 2013 at 03:05 PM Posted December 18, 2013 at 03:05 PM You can barely hear the firearms from the parking lot of most ranges I've been to. Well, indoor ranges at least. Noise is a non-issue unless it's very residential. Probably couldn't get that past zoning anyway.
transplant Posted December 18, 2013 at 03:36 PM Author Posted December 18, 2013 at 03:36 PM You can barely hear the firearms from the parking lot of most ranges I've been to. Well, indoor ranges at least. Noise is a non-issue unless it's very residential. Probably couldn't get that past zoning anyway. The zoning exceptions they were asking for are virtually identical to the zoning exceptions used for the sheet metal fabrication business that used to be in the building. Most of the noise complaints were centered around the air conditioners and traffic from patrons.
RacerDave6 Posted January 7, 2014 at 02:47 AM Posted January 7, 2014 at 02:47 AM I just heard that this range has gotten past the first hurdle.Supposedly it will go to the board and the local residents plan to pack the place. They have concerns about the noise from what I hear.I don't have a for sure date, but the next village board meeting is next Monday the 13th.I will post more if I hear.Anyone in that area should attend.
C0untZer0 Posted January 7, 2014 at 03:00 AM Posted January 7, 2014 at 03:00 AM My neighbors make more noise with their snowblowers and their dogs that a gun range makes ever... And my idiotic neighbors are out at 2:00 a.m. blowing snow. I can see if you have to go to work in the morning at 6:00 you might need to clear your driveway at 5:00, but I swear these snowblowers are like some ego thing to some of these guys. One fricken snowflake falls any time of the night, and these yahoos are out there with their 500 hp snow blowers trying to prove to everyone who's got the biggest.
Colt guy Posted January 7, 2014 at 03:50 AM Posted January 7, 2014 at 03:50 AM Industrial areas are perfect locations. As long as it's not within a thousand miles of a school zone. Ask Shore Galleries how that went. We need more ranges. Countzero do you have a problem with my snowblower ? / purple http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v140/Belair62/image_zps2a1ac3cc.jpg

Very cool! Will be interesting to see if they have as much trouble as Article 2. I am still amazed the hoops A2 had to jump through. Looking forward to an additional range in the western suburbs. More == better.
RacerDave6 Posted January 9, 2014 at 05:48 PM Posted January 9, 2014 at 05:48 PM I have heard this I at the planning commission level. Their next meeting is Jan 21 @ 7pm. Anyone may attend but only residents can speak. Sent from my LG-P769 using Tapatalk 4
