Although it would have been possible for the 2025 Lame Duck Session to continue into the morning of 1/8/2025, that has not happened.  Instead, the House and Senate are scheduled to convene at 12:00 Noon for the purpose of swearing in members of the soon to start 104th General Assembly.  That 104th GA has session scheduled tomorrow, 1/9/2025, in bodies.  No new legislation has been filed thus far so, aside from possibly adopting some resolutions, we don't anticipate much in the way of floor action.

Additional posts will be made if the situation warrants.

The new and returning House and Senate members have been sworn and, shockingly, Senator Harmon has been elected to continue his role as Senate President and  Representative Welch has been elected to continue as House Speaker.

That should be illegal

It is, but enforcement of the prohibition is the responsibility of the IL Supreme Court, which defers to the legislative leadership. IOW, if the house speaker and senate president say that their practices and procedures follow the law, the court takes their word for it.
