The robberies began around 5:25 a.m. when three men stepped out of a black sedan and robbed a woman at gunpoint in the 2300 block of West North Avenue, according to a preliminary Chicago police report.

Six more robberies followed, with crews traveling in a stolen Kia and a second car, possibly an Audi.

...

Then, at 5:53 a.m., the stolen Kia that was used in some of the robberies rolled up on a man who was inside his vehicle on the 4700 block of West Arthington in the Austin neighborhood.

Three men got out, and one of them pointed a firearm at the man while demanding his belongings, according to a Chicago police statement. The would-be victim, who is a licensed concealed carry holder, drew his weapon and fired several rounds, striking the driver of the getaway car in the temple and another robber in the shoulder, according to police.

The stolen car traveled a short distance, then crashed, causing a passenger in its back seat to suffer a broken leg, the CPD statement said.

A total of four suspects are in police custody, all are believed to be males between 15- and 18-years-old, police said.

The driver, who was shot in the head, was in surgery at Mt. Sinai Hospital. He was in "bad" condition, an officer at the shooting scene said. According to police, the person with a broken leg is in fair condition, while the person shot in the shoulder is in critical condition.

Even after the concealed carry holder neutralized one carload of suspected robbers, the other carload continued to rob people, according to a source.

Let's see, under proposed legislation that would limit the victim to a 10 round magazine v 4 perps = 2.5 round per perp.  I guess they don't want the perps to be outgunned.

Thugs were out cruising to rob people on their way to work. Sheesh.

And bold enough to keep going after half their crew gets shot.

It turns out that two of the three [dead/injured] robbers tried to carjack an Uber driver earlier this year, but the hijacking failed when the driver shot and killed their accomplice.

The Uber hijacking occurred around 4:23 a.m. on April 27 in the 3900 block of West Jackson. At the time, the Chicago Police Department issued a media statement that said a 16-year-old boy had been shot in the head and killed by someone who opened fire from a vehicle.

...

A source confirmed that two teenagers involved in the April carjacking were also involved in the robbery attempt that went sideways on Monday morning. They were never charged with participating in the April crime. Both, however, have been arrested on other matters before, two sources said.

...

So basically they tried to carjack someone, but their accomplice got shot. So they tried again. This time it was their turn to get shot. It makes carjacking look like hard work.

Since everyone shot is between 16 and 18 the "moms" can list them as children injured by the horrors of "gun gang  violence".

FIFY.

I was once gunned down in traffic by 2 men with guns. If the experience taught me anything it’s that capacity is king.
