kevinmcc Posted July 31, 2018 at 12:25 AM Posted July 31, 2018 at 12:25 AM Here is the link. https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2018/07/20-states-take-aim-at-3d-gun-company-sue-to-get-files-off-the-internet/ Funniest part is these states think the 10th Amendment gives the the right to regulate arms. Forget all the other amendments and enumerated powers.
SiliconSorcerer Posted July 31, 2018 at 01:59 AM Posted July 31, 2018 at 01:59 AM And who didn't save a copy of every download to share?
kevinmcc Posted July 31, 2018 at 02:09 AM Author Posted July 31, 2018 at 02:09 AM And who didn't save a copy of every download to share? I am sure pirate bay and other open torrent sites have them. You can not stop information.
drumgod Posted July 31, 2018 at 01:31 PM Posted July 31, 2018 at 01:31 PM Frankly, it is terrifying... We think that it is important to put a stop to this right away and make it as difficult as humanly possible to access this information. Sheeple gonna' sheep. How can anyone listen to the mainstream infotainment heads without even questioning the garbage they're being fed? It's easier and way less expensive to make a "gun" (or more dangerously, a bomb) with a piece of pipe, but you don't see the sheep bleating about closing hardware stores. Heavy sigh... at least it's "only" 20 states that don't seem to realize this was already addressed.
Bitter Clinger Posted July 31, 2018 at 01:53 PM Posted July 31, 2018 at 01:53 PM Wasn't this already decided to be a 1A issue. They can't force people to delete this kind of information.
JTHunter Posted July 31, 2018 at 09:14 PM Posted July 31, 2018 at 09:14 PM Not having access to a 3D printer, I don't need those files. What I HAVE saved are an assortment of .pdf and/or webpages detailing the making of .32/.380 SMG, a 9mm SMG, home-made suppressors, etc. These might be called "frankenguns" because they are definitely on the ugly side but, if you can weld, grind, bend, and drill on various kinds of metals, you can make these from scratch. They might not last very long but, like the WW2 "Liberator", they would last long enough.
JTHunter Posted August 1, 2018 at 03:23 AM Posted August 1, 2018 at 03:23 AM And, I heard on the news tonight that some judge issued a TRO to keep these files off the web.

Some of these files have been out there for over 5 years. This is 2013 paranoia all over again. https://torrentfreak.com/pirate-bay-takes-over-distribution-of-censored-3d-printable-gun-130510/ And I really hope Illinois is not one of the 20 states wasting tax payer money over this.

Euler Posted August 28, 2018 at 01:43 AM Posted August 28, 2018 at 01:43 AM US Judge Extends Ban of Online 3D-Printed Gun Blueprints ... U.S. District Judge Robert Lasnik in Seattle issued the extension of a nationwide injunction, blocking a Texas-based group from disseminating files for printing plastic weapons on the internet. Lasnik's prior order, issued on July 31, blocked the release of the blueprints hours before they were set to hit the internet. That ban was due to expire Tuesday and the new one will remain in place until the case is resolved. ...
