SAXD9 Posted June 13, 2013 at 08:22 PM Posted June 13, 2013 at 08:22 PM I found out today that Buffalo Grove will be considering an AWB on Monday night. They are modeling it after the Chicago ban. I don't live near there, but if anyone does, you might want to attend.
AlphaKoncepts aka CGS Posted June 13, 2013 at 08:32 PM Posted June 13, 2013 at 08:32 PM Isn't there a meeting there in Buffalo Grove TONIGHT by gun rights advocates?
Patriots & Tyrants Posted June 13, 2013 at 08:36 PM Posted June 13, 2013 at 08:36 PM I live pretty close to Buffalo Grove and can go if no one is available. It would probably be best to find some Buffalo Grove residents to speak at said meeting though. Honestly if half of these towns that are talking about it so far manage to pass an AWB the net result is going to be that online firearms retailers will just stop shipping "assault weapons" and "high capacity magazines" to Illinois because the list of AWB communities is too hard to keep up with and even more will simply refuse all sales to Illinois. As it stands now you have a lot of people online and on gun broker who just flat refuse any Illinois sales because of what Chicago and Cook County have on the books.

You don't need them anyways. Yes some of my distributors, including RRA, will not send me various items like "high cap" mags. Try explaining that it's ok, home rule, blah blah and nope sorry.

For whatever reason I would say a good 1/2-2/3 of Ammo sellers on Gunbroker simply refuse to sell any ammo, period to Illinois residents. Illinois is not quite as popular as NY or CA on the "we won't sell guns here" list of most sellers but I see it popping up more and more. Someone refresh my memory did the Chicago AWB have grandfathering? Buffalo Grove, Deerfield, Highland Park etc are going to run into some really serious expensive legal trouble if they try confiscation. Moreover your average joe being pulled over in Chicago and having his range toys illegally taken might not have the will or wallet to file a lawsuit against Chicago, but many residents of these more affluent suburbs have both.
SAXD9 Posted June 13, 2013 at 08:47 PM Author Posted June 13, 2013 at 08:47 PM Well I guess this thread answers the question about whether Buffalo Grove is considering the ban...

They didn't confiscate it though, they just refuse to let you register it. You can either store it out of town or take the risk that at some point in the future you will be caught with an unregistered firearm and have it confiscated then (and face prosecution)
dnocher Posted June 13, 2013 at 10:49 PM Posted June 13, 2013 at 10:49 PM I just had the problem with getting magazines from EAA out of Florida . I have a SARB6pc 13rd mag. and wanted 2 more. Well got a reply that they will not to sell High capacity mags to IL because of the uncertity of the laws. 10 rd mags not available for the Sar. Not in Chicago I'm in Will County Didn't matter to them .

Molly B. Posted June 14, 2013 at 03:37 PM Posted June 14, 2013 at 03:37 PM Please post the time and place for this city council meeting. We will want to get the word out. Also, we need members there to ask these questions:How much revenue are they setting aside for legal fees for the litigation sure to follow – keeping in mind the ban they are using as a model is in its 5th year of litigation – that’s 5 long years of legal fees just to this date? What is the number of crimes these firearms have been used in this city? How will they enforce this ban, especially when the new state law will allow safe transportation of these firearms through the community?

They will confiscate firearms from people traveling through and get sued thats how they will deal with it. This law doesn't stand a chance in heck in court. I will do my best to attend as well. Hopefully we can get some Buffalo Grove residents there with BIG pictures of the McDonald check.

miztic Posted June 14, 2013 at 04:55 PM Posted June 14, 2013 at 04:55 PM Same day as the Deerfield meeting, crafty bunch of stooges Confiscation makes this ordinance an ex-post-facto law and is clearly unconstitutional, in addition to the 2A issues. If they pass such a thing, I will be driving in circles in that town with an AR in my trunk, I could use a couple million $.

I think these guys must be stupid to go after it this way, i would have waited for a ruling in the Wilson case; then pushed Madigan to pass through a stand alone bill giving home rules a new 30 day window to pass it. It sounds far fetched but I bet if they gave us something like public transit carry or park carry then they could get it pulled off with enough votes.
