Patriots & Tyrants Posted December 18, 2013 at 09:45 PM Posted December 18, 2013 at 09:45 PM God bless Lake County Courts; hopefully this ends up @ the SCOTUS in under 4 years. How long did it take from inception to SCOTUS with McDonald? The info I find online looks like 2 years but I know it must have been longer
Hap Posted December 18, 2013 at 09:47 PM Posted December 18, 2013 at 09:47 PM The long-awaited HP lawsuit, a.k.a. The Skinny Full Employment Act of 2014
skinnyb82 Posted December 18, 2013 at 10:13 PM Posted December 18, 2013 at 10:13 PM If its state I'm gonna have problems pulling briefs. There's no uniform system for that like with the federal district and circuit courts. I bet I can figure out how, will just take some time. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk 2

mauserme Posted December 18, 2013 at 10:29 PM Posted December 18, 2013 at 10:29 PM Is that the same Dr. Friedman that ran for the Senate a couple years ago?
transplant Posted December 18, 2013 at 10:32 PM Posted December 18, 2013 at 10:32 PM pdf of lawsuit added to opening post. Thanks Molly! Here we go! Looks like it challenges the AWB.

Mike A Posted December 18, 2013 at 11:19 PM Posted December 18, 2013 at 11:19 PM Good to see this, but they should really proof read it before they file it... There are three different dates, when does this take effect? 2013, 2014 or 2103? Point #4 under "STANDING" says "Plaintiff must take certain actions by December 14, 2014"Point #9 under "THE ORDINANCE" says "Effective December 14, 2103Point #10 under "THE ORDINANCE" says "Failure to take any of the above actions by December 14, 2013"
NakPPI Posted December 19, 2013 at 12:49 AM Posted December 19, 2013 at 12:49 AM Judge Berrones! heck yeah. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk
transplant Posted December 19, 2013 at 12:53 AM Posted December 19, 2013 at 12:53 AM What's the background on Berrones? Curious why that is good for us.
NakPPI Posted December 19, 2013 at 12:57 AM Posted December 19, 2013 at 12:57 AM Berrones is a very good judge. By the book. Rule follower. He's not going to tolerate the shenanigans we typically see from the government on these cases. Can't say that he's pro or anti, just that he's good. Got a favorable decision from him this morning in fact on a totally unrelated matter. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk
transplant Posted December 19, 2013 at 01:00 AM Posted December 19, 2013 at 01:00 AM Sounds like the kind of judge we want. Doesn't mean we'll always get what we want (Posner scolding us on process), but following the proper processes is good.
Patriots & Tyrants Posted December 19, 2013 at 01:13 AM Posted December 19, 2013 at 01:13 AM Glad to see this! if any funding is needed to help the lawsuit along please let us know, if this lawsuit goes well it could be another Heller or McDonald in regards to 2a rights.
Hap Posted December 19, 2013 at 02:10 AM Posted December 19, 2013 at 02:10 AM The Highland Park City Council has a special meeting tomorrow at 7:45am. The agenda is blank, possibly indicating that it will all be closed session.
transplant Posted December 19, 2013 at 02:13 AM Posted December 19, 2013 at 02:13 AM lololol Does it look like it was freshly scheduled?
Hap Posted December 19, 2013 at 02:22 AM Posted December 19, 2013 at 02:22 AM False alarm - the agenda is blank but there is an agenda packet listing typical city stuff. Obviously they can talk about anything they want but it wasn't called specifically to discuss this matter.
transplant Posted December 19, 2013 at 02:24 AM Posted December 19, 2013 at 02:24 AM Agenda and minutes (still blank): http://www.cityhpil.com/index.aspx?nid=96
Hap Posted December 19, 2013 at 02:38 AM Posted December 19, 2013 at 02:38 AM Look inside the agenda packet. Bunch of stuff, all uninteresting.
