Today (2/26/2013) marks the deadline for introduction of new Houses Bills. Though I didn't mention it at the time, the Senate deadline was 2/15/2013.

Tomorrow brings the potential for Judiciary hearings on quite a few firearm bills and Thursday hearings on "Expanding gun safety laws and UUW". Please continue to watch for action alerts on these and file witness slips as appropriate.

I am posting the ILGA thread early in order to provide as much notice as possible. The floor schedule is based on educated assumptions and will be verified when the calendar is posted.

27 amendments were filed and approved on HB1155 Monday with no opportunity for public comment. They are listed below with our position indicated on each.

As I watch this process unfold a lesson from childhood comes to mind; a lesson I've taught my own children. If you have to sneak around, if you don't want people to see what you're doing, then you don't need to be told it's wrong. You already know it is.

The House is scheduled for 12:00 Noon today. The Senate is not in.

hopefully we have more than 15 mintes to file witness slips..not sure thats even in the cards so i should be happy madigan gives me 5 minutes and 18 seconds to file opposition...soon as i hear specifics i am in...i am still holding as best action for my family is simply to call and oppose anything but isra, nra, IC backed bills...some are elderly and thats about all they can deal with...no worries,,my 80 year old dad is about to come unglued and all he is talking about is 1938 nazi germany in this state...kinda funny really but i agree with my dad on that

I already told my boss today that tomorrow, I will have the internet up nd my headphones on the entire day.....but I WILL still be getting work done!

He knows whatever is going on is important. And onces its over he will get his usually productive and hotheaded designer back. :D

It appears there will be no opportunity to file witness slips as the amendments are moving from Rules straight to the floor.

Thank you sir...

Ladies and gents - hold the line... at all costs.

They'd better play nice - IGOLD is right around the corner!

mause- You're awesome. Thank You for staying on top of these.

Question: Can we change Amend. 24 to at least Neutral? It's better than the anti amendments, but as is being discussed elsewhere it's still no good. Just a thought.

Mause, Is there some way you can list the status of each amendment after it is voted on, this way we that cant listen don't have to go scroll through pages of comments to keep up on the status of each since we may be busy at work or whatever. Maybe on your first post which you listed each amendment.

Thanks for your hard work and time

I usually do exactly that for bills as they are voted on. I plan to on these amendments as well.

Brandon Phelps is at the point of the spear right now. He needs to go into that chamber tomorrow firm in the knowledge that as a group, Illinois Carry supports his efforts. And we need to be firm in our knowledge that he will do the best possible job he can for the people of this state.

Thank you, Mauserme. Also, Abolt, Molly, Todd, and all the other people working for our rights in the face of this disgusting display. Thank you for not only your efforts but also your incredible patience and willingness to educate the rest of us. You're invaluable.

Also, much as 24 might be suboptimal, folks, its a place to begin if it comes to it.

Finally, heres to hoping Madigan et al choke on a cactus.

Please post video/audio links, for the House, when they become available.

Thank You

Based on experience from the 148 debate, anybody planning on paying attention to the debate may want to consider audio only. The video feed had some major buffering issues last time and getting the connection back up if you got kicked off was all but impossible. My thought is today will be 10x worse.

Here's what I'd like to hear someone ask one of these people from the floor today.

"Why is it that the list of places where Illinoisans go most often with their children is the same list of places where they're prohibited from protecting said children? Why were these amendments put together so that wherever kids might be, we've made sure that there will be no resistance for a criminal?"

This is what I have sent to my rep.

As a voter who believes in the U.S. Constitution, I am one of over 100 million law-abiding American citizens who responsibly owns firearms for target shooting, hunting, personal and home defense, and collecting. I care deeply about the Second Amendment, and I am closely monitoring amendments to Illinois House Bill 1155. Particularly Amendments that would restrict my right to keep and bear arms.

As such, I ask that you support the following Amendments:

House Amendment 1, Names of the Act

House Amendment 2, Preemption

House Amendment 24, Shall Issue

House Amendment 27, Language

These amendments are very important as they produce a bill that is fair to all Illinoisans, weather you live in Lake Forest or the City of Chicago. No one should be denied their Constitutional rights based upon their zip code, nor should our rights be decided upon by a nameless official under the guise of "may issue".

Do NOT pass more restrictive gun and magazine laws; instead, work to enforce the thousands of gun laws already on the books and help step up prosecution of criminals who commit violence and misuse firearms.

Best Regards,
