GarandFan Posted August 18, 2010 at 06:39 PM Posted August 18, 2010 at 06:39 PM Democratic poll PPP has Senator Brady up by 9 points in the governor race. http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2010/governor/il/illinois_governor_brady_vs_quinn-1361.html Here is hoping every gun-loving Illinoisan is actively engaged in helping Brady for Governor. Maybe even more willing to work on that than fret about churches in New York City! Edited to add: And it seems poor Dickie is worried. http://news.yahoo.com/s/cq/20100818/pl_cq_politics/politics3724069
Drylok Posted August 18, 2010 at 07:01 PM Posted August 18, 2010 at 07:01 PM That's encouraging, I hope he keeps his cool going into this fall and doesn't say something stupid and eff it up like so many repukeagains seem to do. I've heard more people than in any election cycle before have ask while out and about, "so who do we vote for to get this carry thing passed?" They don't want to hear the lecture and politcal jargin, they don't want to get involved they just want to know what to do at the voting booth. It's encouraging when folks you've never heard talk politics all of the sudden get wound up. And the number of women coming out for carry is just wow. I know this is rural small town USA but still.
Sigma Posted August 18, 2010 at 07:03 PM Posted August 18, 2010 at 07:03 PM I will keep saying this. Do not relax. Do not think this will be a clean sweep. They are crooks and they are willing to do anything to win. School buses of people will show up at the polls and vote the way Jesse Jackson tells them to. Dead people will vote. People who live in other states will vote. Keep campaigning, sending money making calls walking your streets. yard signs, social networks. Do not relax.
BigJim Posted August 18, 2010 at 07:09 PM Posted August 18, 2010 at 07:09 PM My wife is a nurse at an extended care / rehab facility and she says ever time before an election a group (some liberal voter organization) comes in and helps the residents fill out absentee ballots. These people not only help folks fill out the form but even tell them what boxes (candidates) to pick. Brady will loose, take it to the bank. Enough Quinn ballots will be created ...er... found in Chicago area election judge's car trunks to insure Quinn wins.
GarandFan Posted August 18, 2010 at 07:40 PM Author Posted August 18, 2010 at 07:40 PM Brady will loose, take it to the bank. Nice. It's nice to be so sure of something, isn't it? Makes life so much easier.

Bush to consider commuting Ryan's sentence to time served; Bush refused.I really glad Bush didn't fall for that little trap. As for Brady not being able to be elected because of Chicago Machine tricks, plenty of Republicans have won the goober-natorial race il IL. Just hasn't done us much good yet.

gingersnap1170 Posted August 19, 2010 at 05:09 PM Posted August 19, 2010 at 05:09 PM I am keeping my fingers crossed. I cannot handle much more election let down. Positive thinking only.

Ashes Posted August 21, 2010 at 07:53 PM Posted August 21, 2010 at 07:53 PM All we can do is vote. And make sure our family votes. And our friends, and their family, and their friends... etc.

I'm sure that will get him a lot of votes. Maybe everyone will forget before the election... It's not stupid. It's a good idea. The higher minimum wage has cost a lot of jobs in Illinois. The higher the wage is, fewer companies are hiring. I remember how hard it was when I was in high school and college to get a part-time job. It's 1000% harder now, because of this stupid minimum wage law.

Sigma Posted August 25, 2010 at 11:34 PM Posted August 25, 2010 at 11:34 PM If it aint up by at least 20 points, then we cant relax. 8 points mean nothing
Tvandermyde Posted August 26, 2010 at 02:41 AM Posted August 26, 2010 at 02:41 AM over the last 48 hours I have heard more talk and numbers that indicate the repubs may have a real shot at taking over the Illinois House. Things are heating up.

From talking to family and friends, Kirk could be up by 9 points also, if he wasn't "squishy" on the 2A. Seems like I'm not only one that may either sit on their hands or write in another name for US Senator from Illinois. MARK KIRK ARE YOU READING YOUR POLLS AND FEEDBACK FROM YOU CONSTITUENTS ?!?!?!?!? Apparently not.
GarandFan Posted September 5, 2010 at 12:47 PM Author Posted September 5, 2010 at 12:47 PM Found this on real clear politics website ... Bill Brady holds 5 point lead over Quinn based on Tribune poll. My link If there ever was a year when "get out the vote" campaigns could help elect someone like Bill Brady, this year is one of them!

Seems like I'm not only one that may either sit on their hands or write in another name for US Senator from Illinois. MARK KIRK ARE YOU READING YOUR POLLS AND FEEDBACK FROM YOU CONSTITUENTS ?!?!?!?!? Apparently not. So, you'll "sit on your hands" or vote for a candidate with no real chance of winning because Kirk is "squishy"?? You just as well go vote for Alexi. Kirk may be "squishy" on 2A and a couple of other issues. But Alexi isn't, he's decidely anti 2A, pro cap and trade and sits on the Dem side of the aisle which gives us more of Harry Reid or Dick Durbin as Senate leader! Kirk ain't perfect. But, he claims to have moderated his views on 2A and cap and trade to better reflect the statewide view. He's picked up the endorsement of several ® downstate U.S. Congressmen whose judgement I trust. HE SITS ON THE ® OF THE AISLE!!! Which cuts into the power that the (D) have to pass Obabma's garbage the next couple of years. I beg, implore, and scream at you.... please, hold your nose, swallow your pride, whatever it takes, but vote ® this fall in the major races. We simply must cut the power to the entitlement party of Obama before this country falls in upon itself. The Republicans aren't perfect, but they offer us a chance to temporarily slow down the Dems while we put the ®'s back together. A vote not cast for a candidate is as good as a vote cast for the challenger. AB
Sigma Posted September 5, 2010 at 02:01 PM Posted September 5, 2010 at 02:01 PM I agree 100% why in the world would you want the dems to hold a majority. If they had not held a majority we wouldnt have Obamacare and every other bad thing coming out of washington
GarandFan Posted September 5, 2010 at 03:24 PM Author Posted September 5, 2010 at 03:24 PM I agree 100% why in the world would you want the dems to hold a majority. If they had not held a majority we wouldnt have Obamacare and every other bad thing coming out of washington I understand your sentiment here, but disagree at a more fundamental level. I am certainly not so partisan to presume that Republicans are not capable of creating/enacting/enforcing bad things out of Washington. BUT this thread is about Bill Brady's polling numbers and the IL gubernatorial election. I don't know how it got high-jacked into a "whether to vote for Kirk or not." There are other threads for that.
