Maybe these bad guys just didn't get the message from on high that Mayor Daley declared guns as illegal? 14 hurt, 1 dead in overnight shootings March 19, 2010 (CHICAGO) (WLS) -- Chicago police and fire department paramedics responded to a rash of shootings around the city that left 14 people wounded and one person dead Thursday night. A 22-year-old man was shot and killed on West Chicago near Lockwood. Police say the victim was involved in some type of argument with the gunman, who remains at large. Investigators suspect that deadly shooting may be gang related. In the South Austin neighborhood, gunfire wounded a 14-year-old boy. A 21-year-old and an 18-year-old man were also hit, as was a woman. They were in front of a home in the 5500-block of West Iowa when a gunman opened fire. The 14- and 18-year-olds are in critical condition. No one is in custody. And in the Englewood neighborhood, a shooter in a passing car wounded four men in the area around 78th and Loomis and 76th and Bishop. The gunfire left a 31-year-old man in critical condition. Yeah, things have been working real well. Me thinks it to be well past time to try something new, maybe something adopted by every other State in the Union. They already have the "wild west." There is already "blood in the streets," and "shoot outs over _______." When a bill finally gets put on the floor and honestly debated, what are they going to say, "well, 49 other States have right to carry, but ... <the sound of crickets>."

My thoughts are the lack of a two parent family unit, Proper moral guidance by surrounding adult roll models and the economy. Gangs then become a form of family unit , protection, and economic revenue all rolled up into one. Demanding loyalty to its own existence thru force of intimidation. But legislators attempt to blame objects rather than any attempt to affect deeper and much tougher issues.
