vito Posted October 25, 2018 at 03:18 PM Share Posted October 25, 2018 at 03:18 PM I was surprised not to see a thread started on the incident of a Chicago judge who dropped a gun in the courthouse having charges dismissed. I read that the presiding judge ruled that the video evidence was not conclusive that it was a gun that was dropped, even though no one seemed to doubt that this is in fact what happened. Seems a pretty clear case of "some of us are above the law". Something tells me that if I were to drop a concealed handgun while in the courthouse, and were arrested for having that gun in a GFZ, a judge wouldn't be so quick to drop the charges against me. Cases like this are what cause people to be cynical about the law, and to see restrictive laws as something of a game to be beaten rather than something to be respected and obeyed. Most of us would not be so careless as to drop the gun that we were carrying concealed, but I guess if you are a judge you don't have to really worry about being so concerned with compliance with the law for yourself.
