kwc Posted September 4, 2015 at 12:14 AM Posted September 4, 2015 at 12:14 AM Attached is the Illinois State Police (ISP) response to my latest FOIA request regarding cancelled concealed carry licenses (CCLs) throughout the lifetime of the CCL program. As of Sep 2, 2015, between 202 and 278 licenses and applications had been cancelled as a result of a move to another state.ISP provided a list of all cancelled licenses and applications, regardless of the reason. Cancelled licenses are categorized separately from revoked licenses, as ISP confirmed in the cover letter. As a result, the cancellation list should not overlap with the revoked list previously posted. A tabulation of reasons for canceling is below:http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/09/03/5b64c6e2da4ab52e7cffeaae542e7c46.jpgThe first two categories clearly represent cancellations due to moving out of state (total: 202). Many cancellations reported in the second two categories are likely to include moves out of state, too (total: 76), for a maximum of 278. The last category (deceased) obviously shouldn't be counted, even though many of them will still vote in the next election. For the vast majority of cancellations, ISP was unable to provide the state into which the applicant or licensee moved. Known states explicitly identified in the list (frequency ranging from 1 to 4) include AL, AZ, CO, FL, GA, IA, IN, KS, KY, MN, MO, NC, NV, OH, TX, and WI. None of these states are ones deemed "substantially similar."I have a strong suspicion some of you will be able to find your own license on the list.Cancelled FCCAs - Sep 2 2015.pdf
mic6010 Posted September 4, 2015 at 02:01 AM Posted September 4, 2015 at 02:01 AM Wow, 7 people died before they ever got to legally carry in the state of IL. That's kinda sad.
kwc Posted September 4, 2015 at 02:19 AM Author Posted September 4, 2015 at 02:19 AM Wow, 7 people died before they ever got to legally carry in the state of IL. That's kinda sad. I hope all died from natural causes!
kwc Posted September 4, 2015 at 11:43 AM Author Posted September 4, 2015 at 11:43 AM You also gotta feel bad for those who applied, paid their hard-earned money, and moved before getting a license or had it for a month or less.

jmeyers Posted September 7, 2015 at 07:24 PM Posted September 7, 2015 at 07:24 PM Believe it or not, I have letters stating mine was revoked for moving out of state and Im not on that list
Tango7 Posted September 7, 2015 at 08:41 PM Posted September 7, 2015 at 08:41 PM Wow, 7 people died before they ever got to legally carry in the state of IL. That's kinda sad. What's worse is the hundreds of thousands of crime victims who died while their attackers were shielded by {D}a powers that be thanks to legislative disarmament. At least those 7 died in a freer state than the one they were born in.
kwc Posted September 7, 2015 at 08:45 PM Author Posted September 7, 2015 at 08:45 PM Believe it or not, I have letters stating mine was revoked for moving out of state and Im not on that list Does the wording in your letter use the words "revoked" or "cancelled"? Check the revoked list & see if you're on that one instead.

AlphaKoncepts aka CGS Posted September 9, 2015 at 11:11 PM Posted September 9, 2015 at 11:11 PM I am very happy that the 15 deceased were able to finally experience freedom through their CCL before they passed. KWC has one of the most interesting hobbies around. I bet they know him on a first name basis at the ISP FOIA office, they call him "Oh not him again" Alot more than 7 died in Illinois before tasting freedom!

Thanks for checking!
GM1(SW) Posted September 11, 2015 at 02:03 AM Posted September 11, 2015 at 02:03 AM The statistic that caught me off guard was the 27 people that surrendered their license.... Why would you go thru the training, apply for a license and then turn it in? Maybe I am missing something there.

Why would you go thru the training, apply for a license and then turn it in? Maybe I am missing something there. They probably called ISP to find out how to change their address after moving out-of-state, were told their licenses were no longer valid, and voluntarily surrendered their licenses in response. It was the licensee who initiated this cancellation instead of the ISP discovering the licensee had been issued a driver's license in another state.
