I don't imagine we can put together much of a "counter lobby" day, just one week after IGOLD, but I just thought I'd put this out there:

Lobby Day in Springfield for IL HB 48

Lobby Day in Springfield Illinois: for H.B. 48 Universal Background Checks

Wednesday March 18, 2009

Bus departs St. Sabina Church at 8 am Bus returns to St. Sabina Church at 6 pm

To Sign Up - Fill out the Registration Form and return it the church office.

'Bout time for him to come crawling out of the woodwork. He's been too quiet, too long. Hmmmmmm one bus. Wonder what will get more press, his one bus or our 5000 people??

Their bus leaves at 8am which means they will hit the sidewalk in Springfield around noon and they would have to leave by 2pm in order to get home by 6pm. That sound about right? If we were there from 11am to 3pm we could still counter their protest with twice as much pavement time and be effective even without a full bus load of people.

I could take off that day if enough people are game for the idea.

We need to get all of our people to fill their bus & let them pay for the gas to get us there. Wear a sweatshirt over your IGOLD t-shirt.

How are those kids supposed to get an education when they are taken out for stupid things like this? They need to get as much class time as possible.

Or, would it be considered a class in "How to violate the rights of citizens and trash the Constitution"?

I dont know you,

but if 10-20k of folks show up for IGOLD, it would make a big statement over Father Snuffy. :frantics:

Ten to twenty thousand people?

C-rock ... are you out of your fricking mind again?

Yes we can.

If I am crazy for believing that, so be it.

Your the one putting it out in the universe it cannot be that many, not I. :frantics:

Anyone want to bet that Fadder Snuffy gets more Chicago media coverage with 60 people than we get with 5,000 people?

He'll be the lead story on all the Chicago TV news programs and page 1 coverage on the Tribune. :frantics:

Ignore Snuffy. Totally ignore him.

It's by far the best tactic.

Believe me.

I see the merit in that strategy, but I'll submit that Snuffy probably has some idea of what the citizen disarmament advocates in the House are up to, and if he's planning their trip for Mar. 18, we should probably assume Osterman will move on it shortly after (or maybe on) that date. That's useful tactical intelligence.

This is the biggest threat we face--it already has 30 sponsors/co-sponsors.

This is where they think they can win, if nowhere else.

IGNORE THE ENEMY???? Are you totally freaking insane? That's EXACTLY the reason why this state has been able to grow the most imbedded anti-2A government in the country. OMFG - Ignore the Enemy of the Constitution?!?!?!.... Yeah, GREAT ADVICE there. You just might as well roll over, (edit) That is the single worst "tactic" I've read in my life.

BTW - Here's a bit of advice, MR Garandfan - You FIGHT THE ENEMY! Geesh - even a frickin third-grader knows that.

We need to ignore him and not inflate the media coverage. Then we need to pack the committee chamber when HB48 is heard.

Problem is - When Snuffy SNEEZES he gets coverage in every Chicago newspaper and TV station. You CANNOT ignore him. Ignoring the Enemy is recipe for defeat. YOU MEET The Enemy. YOU DEFEAT the enemy. You NEVER Ignore the Enemy. You FIGHT the Enemy!!!

WAKE UP. Ignoring the Anti-2A Enemy has worked great so far, don't ya think. Keep it up, and Illinois will be the ONLY state in the Union with a Total Firearm ban.

I think the thing is If he shows up with 30 people that is all he gets credit for. If he shows up with 30 people & we show up with 200 people all the news & headlines say 230 people showed up to protest guns (or whatever) but he gets credit for our people. That is why we did not go to Jessie Jacksons thing as DSA because there were over 500 people committed to going to that one then at the last minute DSA called everyone off & Jessie had 12 people there. He surely would have gotten credit for a lot more if we had 500 people there.

But how are you gonna get home afterwards??

Remember Jesse Jackson's "protests" of gun shops?

When gun owners showed to counter-protest, he got lots of coverage.

When gun owners ignored him (rightly suggested by the ISRA), Jesse quit protesting.

News thrives on controversy. Jesse thrives on news coverage.

Ignore the idiots.

Yes, you fight the enemy, and you use advanced tactics.

Garand, Farmer, GOAV, PredatorBaz, and I have all been there to see Snuffy's antics, as part of a counter protest, and later justona recon.

Trust us, when there's no confrontation, the press doesnt' care about Fr. Pfleger.

I still think this provides some potentially useful clues on when Osterman, et al, intend to bring this up for a vote. Not that we should wait until then to hammer them with our objections to it, but I think we should consider building up to a peak around that date.

I think 45Superman may be onto something here! You have to admit, both politicians and celebutards (e.g. SnuffDaddy) have an insatiable desire to gather together and always seem to show up when something important is going on. Their timing is impeccable - which can only mean that information is being shared and plans are made to further their agenda.

And the more sponsors HB48 gathers, the bigger the threat it is.

*edit* Oops. I meant to say a bigger threat and not bigger treat.

Don't feed the ego of the sociologically challenged priest. Ignore him by not staging a counter-protest march. Good reasons for not doing so have already been described in previous posts.

Ignoring the misguided priest's lobby day effort is not the same as ignoring the enemy. It is the suggestion of a different, more efficient attack on the enemy.

The most effective strategy is to attack the stupidity of HR 48 (Universal Background Checks) by emails and phone calls to our representatives, letters to editors, and testimony before legislative committees—tactics that have been fully described in this wonderful forum.

Again and again. None of the so-called gun control proposals address the deep rooted causes of violent crime. The milieu will not be changed by requiring universal background checks, and the violence will continue.

(I also skipped the third grade.)

Ok. The Elites here believe that the wisest thing to do is ignore the Anti-2A elements in this state, so I guess I'll capitulate to the wisdom of the site elders, they have been so successful thus far. I'm going to delete my posts and stay away from matters that require wisdom, intelligence and experience that is obviously above my humble abilities. I won't go against the grain here anymore and will step away and let the Big Boys play. See you all in the "I stubbed my big Toe" posts.
