Don't forget about Anjanette Young in Chicago.  CPD busted down her house in a no knock at night, caught her naked and wouldn't let her get dressed for quite some time.  They got the wrong house and the guy they were looking for hadn't been living there for over 4 years. Apparently because their CI was useless...

No knock warrants really need to end.

They actually did knock.

Yeah, they lightly knocked on the door and in under 2 seconds were bashing it open.

That hardly counts as "knocking".

Yeah, watch that last P&S modcast that I shared. They explain it well. Even if you said "Hey cop - you signed up to protect and serve, go protect and serve" you still have to protect the neighbors and the person themselves. This video where they could not break down the door, imagine if there was someone with a shotgun on the other side of that door.

The TLDR; of the video was that if you want to live in a civilized society, you are going to have to tolerate a certain amount of these mistakes.

I don't like it either, especially with the immunity that law enforcement has. At least Young got paid for her trouble.

Details of the shooting briefly discussed at -1:27:30. Good discussion overall.

LOL at 3:12:28 - 55

I disagree with some of their core arguments that eliminating no knocks will further lead America into a lawless dystopian. Because no knocks didn't exist until Nixon's war on drugs.

If I'm not mistaken, hostage rescue falls under exigent circumstances.

Cops aren't rescuing evidence except for child porn where the offender can wipe their phone with a button press.

So I guess the list is kiddie porn.

Pressing the delete button does not delete the data,  it is still there and can be recovered unless written over.  If it has not been written over several times, it can be recovered.  The data is not deleted, it is just marked as available to be written over.
