Loss of FOID means.....?

I started a thread about someone in my family recently having Their FOID revoked due to the mental health reporting. It was voluntary so he is not on the federal prohibited list from what I understand. My question is can this individual still go to the range with someone that has a valid FOID? Can this person hunt (say waterfowl) so long as he is with someone that possesses a valid FOID? Or does the fact his FOID was revoked due to a mental health reporting put him into the same category as a felon where he can't be in possession of a firearm at all even if he is in company of a valid FOID holder?

It might be worth your time to read through the FOID Act, specifically sections 2 and 3.

http://www.ilga.gov/legislation/ilcs/ilcs3.asp?ActID=1657

Section 2.b. has a list of exemptions for individuals who do not have a FOID card. Residents without one can shoot under the supervision of an adult (21 or older) who has a FOID. However, that person must be otherwise eligible for a FOID. That rules out the option you've suggested.

"(15) A person who is otherwise eligible to obtain a Firearm Owner's Identification Card under this Act and is under the direct supervision of a holder of a Firearm Owner's Identification Card who is 21 years of age or older while the person is on a firing or shooting range or is a participant in a firearms safety and training course recognized by a law enforcement agency or a national, statewide shooting sports organization"

Based upon your first thread, you really want him to have any firearm in his hands already?

And wouldn't this be like sending your child to his room as punishment along with his Xbox, Ps4, 60 inch flatscreen, cell phone, tablet, a bag of Oreos and a large Pepsi?

There's a reason based upon your own posts why this happened, stick to the plan!

You asked, others might not have followed your other post, I did, let it be its only been a month there's no lesson learned!

Removing firearms from the possession of a person alleged to be suffering from depression was never intended as a punishment, nor as an excuse to treat adults as children even when their father asks for advice on their behalf.

jkdkaliman101, you know him better than any of us possibly can. If you're comfortable with it now or at some point in the future, I'll point out that the FOID Act applies only within Illinois.

He will have to move to another state to legally possess and/or carry a gun as well as to legally hunt with one. It may be possible that he would legally be able to possess firearms in ILLINOIS as a non-resident but it is also possible that he could be prosecuted due to being ineligible for a FOID despite being exempt as a non-resident.

This is the perfect excuse for him to move another state preferably a bordering state that way you would be able to visit him as often as you wish. Which bordering state does he prefer to move to the most? If no preference which is the closest bordering state?
