Illinois General Assembly 2024 Veto Session - Week 1 of 2
davel501 replied to mauserme's topic in Illinois Politics
Any word on what it's up to from the plaintiffs? -
Pretty much everything you propose will cost more money. Heck, even the safety act is an attempt by the dems to take credit for a cost saving measure. I wish someone would think to try adopting libertarian principles. Reagan promised us smaller government but got lost along the way.

I hope it goes just the way we think it will do scotus can just affirm McGlynns ruling. Ideally on the shadow docket so it hits stunningly fast.

Good case to put limits on Rahimi too. -
I haven't had a problem with firearms sitting a year or more dirty as long as they are in a spot where the oil can't collect dust. Even when I do a deep cleaning now, it's just Seafoam Deep Creep to soak it all down then paper towels to pull off the big dirt followed by a microfiber gun cloth to get the rest. Maybe a couple of passes of a bore snake if I'm worried about fouling but I just don't see any difference on the borescope so why add the work and wear for such little result. These needle oilers are the greatest thing: Amazon.com: TITGGI 5 Pcs Needle Oiler (1 OZ), Precision Gun Oil Bottle, LDPE Oil Applicator with Extra Long 1.5 Inch Stainless Needle Tip – Easy to Use for Gun Oil, Crafts, Hinges, Sewing Machines and More : Industrial & Scientific. I fill mine with this: Amazon.com : Hoppe's Elite Gun Oil, 4 oz. Bottle : Hunting Cleaning And Maintenance Products : Sports & Outdoors. Oil up the gun before you shoot following the directions that came with it, and you'll never have a problem. For those classes where you shoot 1000+ rounds in 2 days you'll probably want to oil after lunch too.

The more I learn, the less time I spend cleaning my firearms.

There are a lot of articles about judges saying they wish could hold someone but the safe t act prohibits it.
-
In fairness, I really don't clean or maintain my firearms. I just shoot them until they break then fix them. If she shoots like an average person, her 100 rounds per year will take a while to wear anything.

How great would it be if she meant to say 19 but said 18?

It's taking the "One innocent person assumption" a few steps too far. The assumption is that there is at least one innocent person being held for one reason or another. It makes a lot of sense when you are looking at the history of the death penalty and why life in prison is probably as far as we can go morally as a society. Big difference in scenarios though. Murderers stay locked up; we just don't put innocent people to death. Seems to me, the better fix here would have been to a system where the state pays legal fees, lost wages, etc. if you are acquitted. Suddenly, even the best lawyers are public defenders and bad police are a finacial liability.

Biden’s Executive Order: Backdoor To Gun Control Or Campaign Event?
davel501 replied to mauserme's topic in National Politics
There are quite a few towns where officers felt it prudent to spice up the drills by running around with air soft guns. They just did that for the faculty at the school my kids went to. The faculty made sure we heard their feelings about it on parent's night. It had been a few days and they were still all upset. I have heard of PDs doing it with kids in the building but don't know of any first-hand.
