Talonap Posted March 21, 2015 at 08:19 PM Posted March 21, 2015 at 08:19 PM If you want a current production 9mm carbine, there are the various Hi-Point models:http://www.hi-pointfirearms.com/Hi-Point-carbines/9MM_carbine.htmlI recall reading a review of their product on thetruthaboutguns website.-Keith.I have a "friend" (yeah, that's the ticket!) who owns one of these (995TS 9mm, runs +p). $300, ran perfect out of the box, decent sights. My "friend" added a red dot, a foregrip and a 2 mag holder that attaches to the butt, along with two spare mags, still less than $500 into the carbine. Just to have something a bit more substantial and steady to have around for HD, this one is really worth it. Not something I'd put thousands of rounds through, but it seems as if it will hold up fine with moderate use. I've also heard good things about this one. It's on my, "List", for the future. Too bad I can't have one in Cook County.
milq Posted March 22, 2015 at 12:17 AM Posted March 22, 2015 at 12:17 AM Ahhh, I didn't realize you could change it over to 92 mags! I knew you could get a kit for Cougar mags.
quackersmacker Posted March 22, 2015 at 12:26 AM Posted March 22, 2015 at 12:26 AM The Hi Point 995TS runs great and is just a lot of fun to shoot. So is their .45 carbine. Never had a jam or any other issue with either one. They represent great value for the $. You can get the 9mm for $245 and the .45 for $269 at Bud's, and they're both frequently even cheaper at gunauction or gunbroker.
milq Posted March 22, 2015 at 12:48 AM Posted March 22, 2015 at 12:48 AM I've avoided Botach in the past after reading some horrible reviews (after making one purchase from them that was "ok"). I just read some more reviews, looks like they're still not very well rated.
handyflyer Posted March 22, 2015 at 01:27 AM Posted March 22, 2015 at 01:27 AM Not gonna lie, the people I've talked to at Botach probably haven't finished the 6th grade. But......if i get the rifle at that good of a price in new condition.....I can overlook it. Plus, it clearly states that shipping is at least 5 days from ordering.

If I recall correctly, their name has been banned from postings in AR15.com
tkroenlein Posted March 22, 2015 at 02:31 AM Posted March 22, 2015 at 02:31 AM I really ain't sure if I love or hate you guys sometimes. I got to looking at carbines again and I see Legacy (Citadel) is importing a 9mm version of the M1 Carbine. Takes 92 mags. ~$400.

TRJ Posted March 22, 2015 at 11:39 PM Author Posted March 22, 2015 at 11:39 PM Pdpsc has a keltec Sub2000 on his sight. Uses Glock mags. He also just got a Tavor, but its not 9mm. Geez I'm so confused.

Haven't seen one in person, but the comments I've read on the Citadel over on arfcom have been disappointing.
tkroenlein Posted March 23, 2015 at 12:16 AM Posted March 23, 2015 at 12:16 AM Yeah, I think I'd have to get hands on before I plunked down the chips on the Citadel.
handyflyer Posted March 23, 2015 at 12:24 AM Posted March 23, 2015 at 12:24 AM I haven't heard great reviews on the citadel either. The 2015 Kel-Tec looks much better than the old one. But it won't be available until 3rd quarter of this year. I just couldn't get past that front site on the Kel-Tec. I feel like a kid on Xmas waiting for my new toy to show up. Come on Beretta......
tkroenlein Posted March 23, 2015 at 01:04 AM Posted March 23, 2015 at 01:04 AM The Beretta is probably the best choice all around. Ground up design by a reputable manufacturer.
Capt_Destro Posted March 23, 2015 at 01:57 AM Posted March 23, 2015 at 01:57 AM Pretty neat mod for the Beretta. Kinda costly, but cool. http://sierrapapacx4.com/new-collapsible-buttstock-conversion/Could be sweet with an Ace Folding Adapter. The Hipoint 45 is also a nice gun for the price. If you switch out a magazine catch it can take 1911 magazines. The Hi Point with a few 15 round magazines of 45 ACP would be real nice.
Kruz Posted March 24, 2015 at 01:50 AM Posted March 24, 2015 at 01:50 AM Great thread. Any firm dates on the 2ng gen Sub 2000?
UnderCover Posted March 24, 2015 at 02:06 AM Posted March 24, 2015 at 02:06 AM No firm dates on the release of 2nd Gen Sub2000. I called the company and they told me they want to get rid of their Old Sub2000's before producing the 2nd Gen Sub2000. The lady mentioned it may come slowly in the market in the middle of summer. I'll be getting one along with the CMR30.
Kruz Posted March 24, 2015 at 03:57 AM Posted March 24, 2015 at 03:57 AM Hmmm. How do they still have old stock and folks are still asking well above MSRP?
tkroenlein Posted March 24, 2015 at 04:02 AM Posted March 24, 2015 at 04:02 AM I think it's kind of funny, them saying they want to sell the old models first. The Glock models have to be one of the toughest guns to find of the decade.
Capt_Destro Posted March 24, 2015 at 04:43 AM Posted March 24, 2015 at 04:43 AM I'm waiting on the Gen 2 Sub 2000. It will be M&P magazine compatible. I have a good amount of 20 round magazines. Jury is still out on Promag 32 rounders though. I'll have to pick one up sometime.
C0untZer0 Posted March 28, 2015 at 12:04 AM Posted March 28, 2015 at 12:04 AM The thing I don't like about the Beretta is that you can't get rid of the fins on it. I have been thinking about getting a Tavor, is it possible to just buy the 9mm or do you have to purchase the 5.56 and then the 9mm conversion? Also here is a review of a 9mm AR that got high marks, the JP Enterprisess http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2013/12/foghorn/gun-review-jp-enterprises-gmr-12-9mm-carbine/

domin8 Posted March 28, 2015 at 04:42 AM Posted March 28, 2015 at 04:42 AM I'm waiting on the Gen 2 Sub 2000.And, I'm waiting on a woman. I'll let you know when she does what I'm waiting on. You let me know when that firearm is Al available. We'll see which happens first.
C0untZer0 Posted March 28, 2015 at 12:50 PM Posted March 28, 2015 at 12:50 PM It is so hard for me to drop $1500 on a 9mm carbine when the Hi-Point does basically the same thing. It is hard for me to drop $220 on a Hi-Point when they're so damn ugly.
Glock23 Posted March 28, 2015 at 02:49 PM Posted March 28, 2015 at 02:49 PM It is so hard for me to drop $1500 on a 9mm carbine when the Hi-Point does basically the same thing. It is hard for me to drop $220 on a Hi-Point when they're so damn ugly. So buy the 5.56 Tavor and the 9mm conversion kit for it, and you'll have both!
C0untZer0 Posted March 28, 2015 at 06:07 PM Posted March 28, 2015 at 06:07 PM The Tavor 9mm conversion kit costs 3 times more than a Hi-Point 9mm carbine

It is hard for me to drop $220 on a Hi-Point when they're so damn ugly.I'm having the same thought. For the price of a Tavor I could buy several Hipoint carbines and leave the all over the house and in my cars and still have money to feed them.
Glock23 Posted March 28, 2015 at 07:27 PM Posted March 28, 2015 at 07:27 PM The Tavor 9mm conversion kit costs 3 times more than a Hi-Point 9mm carbine Because the Tavor isn't a Hi-Point. You get what you pay for.
C0untZer0 Posted March 28, 2015 at 07:42 PM Posted March 28, 2015 at 07:42 PM The only thing wrong with the Hi-Point is the ugliness. Everyone I've ever talked to who owns one says they're reliable and accurate (for a carbine). They get great reviews, its just they look like the Planet of The Apes rifle. http://www.illinoiscarry.com/forum/uploads/monthly_11_2012/post-3474-0-07998800-1354316669.jpg

The mags break easily, and singlestack means the 15rd mags are the same length as a 33rd Glock hatestick. Sights are a disappointment, as is the trigger. They're fine at $200 as long as you only use factory mags. Any more money or options wanted, you're better off spending more money.
